I haven’t been to Disney since I was a tiny kid, so I was super excited to see this book. I always hear about how amazing the food is there.
The book is beautiful, the layout is pretty good. I really liked the first few pages telling you what you would need in the kitchen to be able to make all these recipes.
Now, I did not like the lack of pictures, and the ones chosen were fairly basic for the most part (food items most are already familiar with). However, they were beautiful pictures.
Some of these recipes should be fairly easy to make at home, and some will probably go up to a more seasoned chef’s knowledge.
Overall, this a is a very solid cookbook and I’m very excited to try these recipes. Note to cookbook authors though, please include pictures for all recipes. We eat with our eyes first, and it really does help for home cooks and beginners to know if we are doing it right!
So excited to receive this cookbook as an ARC and so ready to try the recipes. I have always dreamed of going to Disney but have never been able to make it. I couldn’t wait to see what wonderful treats the book had in store. I was able to try a few of the dishes, however for a lot of them I dont have the equipment at home to do them. I was also unfamiliar with most of the dishes since I have never been. It would have been great to have a picture for each recipe. I did try several and they were amazing. The desserts and snacks are my favorite sections. I think this book is perfect for those Disney park fans out there. I can’t wait to try more.
I am such a fan of Ashley Craft's Unofficial Disney Parks cookbooks, so I was really looking forward to the newest addition. The Restaurants edition is likewise fantastic. I continue to love the layout--it's great that park maps are included and there's a wonderful assortment of recipes, from breakfast through dinner as well as desserts and drinks from Disneyland and Disney World. I'm looking forward to trying all them, though, like many cookbooks, I'll need to collect many ingredients that I don't necessarily on hand. But they're all easy to follow. The only thing I wish were included is more photographs of the foods and beverages made. But otherwise this is a great piece of Disney memorabilia to remember your trips by.
Thanks so much to Adams Media for allowing me to review a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for a review.
I received a free copy of, The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook, by Ashley Craft, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This cookbook looks so good, I just wish it had more pictures of the foods. From shakes, to martinis, to breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts this book is crammed with recipes from the Disney parks, and ever recipes sounds so good.
I, like many others, was the most excited for the food when I went to Disney World. It is probably impossible and financially unfeasible to eat everything. So this cookbook is a great opportunity to try to replicate it. Overall I was really intrigued to see this, but it was a little bit of a let down. There are a lot of familiar recipes and the locations where they come from, which is super helpful. The layout of it did not impress me. I know with Disney copyrights, it can't be super authentic but it could have used a little more something. There were not a lot of images of the recipes, which is something I really don't like. I know you can probably look online what it should look like. Lastly, on top of not enough images, the ones that were included did not look appetizing. They were super basic and boring. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, I was expecting some silly themed recipes but this book blew me away! It is incredibly well researched, with history of different Disney Parks restaurants and multiple Disney Parks tips scattered throughout. Find your favorite things to eat from the parks in this detailed cookbook!
These recipes were super fun and mostly easy. The only thing that is not ideal would be the need for a lot of tools that not everyone might have but it’s good they recommend alternatives for those of us who don’t have it.
Thank yall so much for this. I recently went to Disneyworld for the first time in Feburary 2023 and had to try so many foods. So of course I needed this to replicate those the best I can now that im not in the most magical place on earth. I've already made so many recipes from this and im beyond satisfied
I am the biggest Disney nerd and own all the other Disney cookbooks. When I saw this I knew I had to check it out! I definitely will be adding a hard copy to my collection! Just as good as the other unofficial cookbooks!
I’ve never been to Disney but I love being able to make some of the foods from there at home! This recipe book is so cute
Very pretty with clear, easy recipes. There is a bit of a reliance on some grocery store short-cuts, but well within the realm of acceptable. Recipes are clear, steps are easy to follow. My major knock is that Disney cookbooks are really serving a nostalgia niche, and this one leans very heavily into some of newest restaurants (Avengers Island area) as Disneyland. I'm sure they are great and nailing the execution, but I those aren't my comfort Disney recipes that I want to make at home to get a little of that magic for myself.
Fun book of recipes from US Disney Parks. The book includes some background and history info on some of the restaurants. Recipes are in chapters on Breakfast, Lunch, Appetizers and Snacks, Main Dishes, Desserts, and Drinks. I appreciated that some of the drink recipes that contained alcohol had a cocktail variation. Some, but nowhere near all, of the recipes had color photos - I wish they all did. And some of the recipes used store-bought items as ingredients (i.e. refrigerated cinnamon rolls or tubs of frosting).
There were park tips sprinkled throughout the book. This would be great for park enthusiasts and a nice gift book.
I am a huge Disney fan, especially their food. This book has some great recipes to recreate some of the park favorites in Disney World as well as Disneyland!
It has everything from the Monte Cristo in Cafe Orleans in Disneyland to the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake from Liberty Tree Tavern in Disney World.
I loved the Disney tips throughout the book. From restuarants secrets to some hidden ride features.
Everything looks so good! I can’t wait to recreate some of these recipes!
Thank you to NetGalley and Adams Media for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I thought this book was amazing. The book has detailed photos of the food which is very helpful especially if this is the first time making it. I tried almost all the recipes in this book. The directions are clear and concise. The food is just scrumptious. My whole family loved it.
This book was such a cute read. The recipes were fun and easy to follow. We will be using and trying many more in the future.
I'm a HUGE Disney World fan and have my fav dishes from many of the restaurants, but I was a bit disappointed by this cookbook.
I was hoping for some of the really special recipes and meals I've tried, but many of these I'd never seen nor heard of. I do appreciate that they listed the park/on site restaurant where they pulled the recipe from, it just was a miss for me.
However you might LOVE the options they chose to include and really enjoy this book.
This is a fun and quirky little cookbook that makes you feel like a child again, exploring, with eyes wide and also bigger than your stomach, never able to decide what you want.
I love that the book doesn't just give you a recipe but also a bit of help in finding out where in each park you can find these delightful treats. It is such fun and and tells each recipes origins which is fascinating and fun as well. But I must say the recipes are not 'From Scratch' which I would prefer.
Enjoyable, fun, entertaining and tasty, a book that takes you back to fun times and fun food. 3 1/2 stars from me.
Thank you NetGalley and Adams Media for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thank you NetGalley, Ashley Craft, and Adams Media for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook. I received an advanced reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have loved going to Disney World every since my first visit as a small child. What I love even more than the rides is, of course, the food. Having a cookbook that can help someone make a Disney meal or snack at home is fantastic.
The introduction of this cookbook is great. The book also describes where each dish can be found throughout either Disney World or Disneyland. It has everything one could hope for, from breakfast to dinner, from appetizers to desserts.
I do wish there were a little more "from scratch" recipes though. For example, one dish enhances a glazed doughnut. Instead of learning to make an actual glazed doughnut, the recipe says to use a store bought one. Other than that, everything sounds delicious and I cannot wait to try making a lot of the meals found in this cookbook.
The good things about this book are the introduction to all of the different eateries at Disney featured in the book and the map to locate them in relation to the recipes shared. I also appreciate that the recipes were done with a lot of shortcuts which makes it an easy book for anyone to pick up especially if they aren't likely to do scratch cooking.
But for me, that was where it kind of fell short. The first few recipes were more a way of putting store bought items together which I guess mimics what the food at Disney would taste like. It was disappointing though, because I truly hope that Disney would make, for example, their cinnamon rolls from scratch. I did find that the recipes were easy to follow and had good variety. I'm just not sure I would really want to make any of them myself. And in some cases, I feel like the fact that I now know what the process is to mimic them actually made me not want to even pop by the real deal when I'm next at a Park.
I don't think I will be testing these recipes out on my peeps. I am confident that, like the Dollywood book, they will turn out and taste good. Nothing, though, was to the taste of my family unfortunately. I'd have to mix and match too much and swap things out to make them happy.
I will say that the big introduction with the description of the restaurants featured did a lot to get me excited about the Parks and about going to try these places out for the ambiance (and hopefully the food too). So, that's a definite win. The little introductions for each recipe were also typically helpful. The Disney tips on various pages less so because they felt a lot like marketing. Or maybe they were just very basic tips for someone who has been to Disney more than once.
A wonderful addition to any cookbook library. This allows you to either experience the park at home prior to going or if you can't make it. Also another way to keep the vacation going when you return from the park and make some of your favorites with the children at home. Lots of photos and creative recipes that will be sure to become your favorites.
Thanks to netgalley, the author and publisher.
