Holy Moly! This book was utterly absorbing and I didn't get up from my reading chair until I had finished, once I started it. It is absolutely worthy of the hype it is sure to receive. I was entertained throughout and blown away with the most incredible plot twist that literally hit me out of nowhere. The tension in this book had my heart racing and I just could not stop reading! I could go on and on but this is best read with fresh perspectives so you can have those out loud gasping moments that I did! I cannot wait to get this into the hands of my patrons. They are going to be THRILLED!

Wow, this book. I think it's going to have a lot of people talking. It takes some very hot-button, complicated issues and puts its characters into some very difficult predicaments where there are no easy answers. I loved the premise and thought it was well-executed but that didn't mean it wasn't a challenging read at times.

I'd definitely recommend it to readers who are up for a thought-provoking read. I will say that this felt like a really long book at times while it really isn't.

I'll also not that there was a lot of slag and cultural references that I was unfamiliar with as I'm not the race, age, or nationality of the characters, but I felt that grounded the book in a very authentic way and added to the writing-style's success.

I almost put this down at many different points because it was so stressful to read! I wanted to find out what happened but yikes, this book is TENSE.

This was honestly very nearly unreadable. It redeemed itself a little bit by having a point that is probably worth making, but, make no mistake, that point was just as garbled and difficult to parse meaning from as the rest of the text.

It could be my age, I don't know, but I don't think I "got" this book. I liked Ola, although I felt like if she really loved Michael she would have supported him. That being said, I'm sure it would have been devastating to think of your fiancée as an abuser and of course as the book progressed MIchael was found to be far (far) from perfect. I found the contradiction of the way Michael and his friends spoke and the way when the author was describing his thoughts a little distracting (but again that may be an age thing again). I also thought the ending was rather disjointed from the rest of the book with a character coming almost from left field to have started everything. I guess my one take away is to be very very careful with everything you do as once it is on the Internet it is there for good!

I inhaled this debut in less than two days. This novel was provided such good and timely social commentary regarding #MeeToo and Cancel Culture. The two leads frustrated me up until the very last page, but I felt it served the purpose that they were both flawed in their own ways. It made it harder to know whom I should root for and if I should root for either of them. The ending left me gagged but brought home the overall point behind "word of mouth"

This is the most thought provoking book I have read this year. The premise plays off of the MeToo movement when the main character finds her fiancé on a list of “predators.” Very interesting to see how the story plays out. Highly recommend.

The concept of this book was immediately intriguing; and this book was nothing if not intriguing. Yomi Adegoke has an incredibly powerful voice that lent itself well to this eerie and unsettling book.

What happens if your fiancé shows up on a viral Me Too list, accused of sexual harassment? 5 years ago, no one could have predicted this as even an option, but in 2023, it very much is, and The List by Yomi Adegoke explores this modern human dilemma. Ola, a proud feminist, is counting down the days to her wedding- excited to be part of an influencer power couple. Days before the Nigerian-Ghanaian showstopper wedding, her world is rocked when her fiancé's name shows up on The List, an anonymous online list of alleged sexual abusers, rapists, and harassers. Suddenly on a spiral, this novel focused on the aftermath of The List from Ola's perspective as well as her fiancé's Michael. Alternative back and forth in the days leading up to the wedding. This novel is raw, but there is a lot going on. At times it drug on, and I pushed myself to read it. I don’t want to add spoilers, but at times the dual perspectives on the same timeframe were unnecessary. I felt the same way about the Lewis Hale storyline. It seemed like an add-on that I felt I could do without.
Overall, The List asks some very compelling questions and commentary on society today with social media and the Me Too movement.

This book is as much about the culture of the moment as it is the exploration of a young couple's relationship.

One morning the couple wake up to a text that says "Have You Seen The List." It is a list of rapists and bad actors in the entertainment industry. His name is on it.

It brings up the issues around this kind of accusation without proof. What does a woman do when this happens? Who do you trust?

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The List.

The premise is a good twist referencing the #MeToo movement.

What happens when a woman discovers her fiance is on a list of predators?

I had different expectations about this book, thinking perhaps Ola might launch a personal investigation to determine if Michael was guilty or not.

Instead, the narrative was a long, tedious slog about Ola and Michael's relationship, if her belief in his innocence passively encouraged predators to continue preying, and subplots involving the other predators on the list.

You know you're reading a book when the main male character is such a hottie, as Michael apparently is.

I didn't like Ola or Michael; I found Ola pretty naive for a reporter who was aware of #MeToo, almost meek in her belief that Michael was innocent.

I also wasn't a fan of how Ola forgave Michael's previous indiscretions, but that's a personal opinion.

And what's up with the long paragraphs? is this a new trend? Or just a UK thing?

The narrative was full of descriptions about the wedding, Ola's friends, their appearance, where they met, lots of dreary exposition that read as filler and did nothing to move the story forward.

The writing was good, but dry, lacking warmth, like I was reading a textbook full of facts.

I was so excited to read this and was sorely disappointed. I could barely finish it. While the premise excited me, the writing was stale and hard to read. The characters act as archetypes, they lack depth and movement. They talk in ways that seem out of time and unnatural.

I thought this book was a fascinating exploration of a fraught nightmare. There were so many forks in the road where people made stupid but understandable choices. But it really wrestled with something unfathomable in an impressive way. The one quibble I had was about Michael and Ola's relationship. I wish there was a little more showing than telling -- while I'm happy we were mostly dropped right in the middle of the action, I had a little bit of a hard time believing how much they loved each other. The prologue helped a bit, but the dramatic foreshadowing was a little heavy-handed.
