Despite that, I still enjoyed this story; I just wish I hadnโ€™t gone in with such high expectations. This book had more characters than the last, so it was more of a stretch to weave all the pieces together and thatโ€™s where my faults with it lie. Nothing about it was eye-roll worthy, but nothing in its resolution wowed me either.โฃ

I did a (rare for me) read/listen on this and both formats worked well, so I canโ€™t recommend one over the other. Iโ€™m anxious to find more reviews out there as Iโ€™m quite curious to see how this book worked for other readers. So, pick it up and let me know what you think! โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

This one was intriguing and kept my attention. I struggled keeping up with characters for the first 1/4 of the book but once it was clear who was who it was a fast read/listen. This was one I enjoyed the plot overall but found the ending to be kind of weak.

Thank you to the publisher for the ALC. So creepy and the full cast audio narration truly adds to that atmosphere.

I enjoyed listening to The Woman Inside! I liked the cast of narrators and the story. It's a mystery so I don't want to give too much away, but I recommend if you like suspense!

Thank you @celedonbooks for my gifted digital and audio copies. I was delighted to receive them and my thoughts are my own.

A psychological suspense novel that opens with a murder sceneโ€ฆthis one had my attention from the first page!

The story unfolds at a good pace through police interviews, newspaper articles, and the perspectives of Bill, Karla, and Jennica. We learn early on the identity of the victims.

REGINA RYTTER is very sick and STEVEN is her controlling husband who is possibly over-medicating Regina. Then, we wonder, is Regina really sick, or is her โ€œillnessโ€ the result of her meds?

BILL is a widower struggling to make ends meet and take care of his young daughter. He takes on KARLA as a boarder to help with his expenses.

KARLA is the housekeeper for the Rytters. She is studying law.

JENNICA is having an affair with Steven.

ALL of the characters are somehow connected and all of the characters are hiding a secret. I didnโ€™t particularly like any of the characters as the story developed but I did want Bill to be able to care for his daughter. The ending caught me by surprise!

The audiobook was particularly enjoyable with four narrators and an authorโ€™s note read by the author.

Read (or listen to) this if you enjoy:
*Multiple perspectives
*Character-driven novels
*Characters with secrets
*Twists
*Surprising conclusions

I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook of The Woman Inside by MT Edvardsson, narrated by. Josh Dylan and Nathalie Buscombe. This is my second novel from Edvardsson (after A Nearly Normal Summer, which I devoured!) and it will definitely not be my last. The author has a way of hiding what will become huge twists in plain sight. The "reveal" is shocking but also satisfying. The narrators were fantastic. Highly recommend!

The Woman Inside tells the story of the investigation into the murders of Steven and Regina. It follows Jennica, Bill, and Karla who all had a relationship in one way or another with the couple and may be connected somehow. Is everything as it seems?

I loved the story being told from different perspectives and different timelines throughout. I also loved getting the transcripts from the interviews. The writing style of this book was very good. I really felt for Bill and Sally and Karla. I had no idea what had happened until the moment that the author laid it out for me. It was the perfect mystery and I was so intrigued. This is my second book by this author and I will read as many as he writes! I had access to the audiobook as well and I loved it as well. it helped with the pronunciation of names and places immensely!

A wealthy couple is found inside their home, but is everything as it seems? This slow burn crime thriller unfolded beautifully. The last twist came with the last words of the novel. Just when I thought I figured it out another twist would be thrown my way that I never saw coming. The Audiobook had a full cast of characters and I was very happy with narration. Would definitely read from this author again.

When I first started listening to the audiobook of "The Woman Inside" by M.T. Evardsson, I was enthralled and couldnโ€™t stop listening, however, about halfway through, I had to convince myself to keep listening.

In the end, I struggled to connect and empathize with the characters, and therefore donโ€™t think this was a good book choice for me, but I do think others will enjoy - the multiple narrators did a great job and the book was well written.

Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A wealthy heiress and her husband are found dead in their home in Lund, Sweden. The woman has died from a head injury, the husband from an apparent drug overdose. Fingerprints are found in their house from their cleaner, Karla, a woman going to school to become a judge, and Bill, a man how is down on his luck. After Bill was widowed, his bills overwhelmed him and Karla came to lodge with Bill and his daughter. But why are his fingerprints in the dead coupleโ€™s home? And then thereโ€™s Jennica, a woman who met the deceased man on Tinder (he was soooo different ๐Ÿ˜).
Told from the perspectives of Bill, Karla, and Jennica, this novel begins and ends with this โ€˜family tragedyโ€™ and how it came about. The audiobook was really well done with the different narrators bringing this to life. I enjoyed this, it could have been a bit shorter, and itโ€™s more of a mystery than a thriller, but it was a good summer evening well spent.

Plenty of twists and turns in this story which revolves around a widower and his daughter. There were a few storylines going on in this novel, and eventually, all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This was a slow burn but kept me interested to find out the ending..

Thank you M. T. Edvardsson, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for this audiobook arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I'm not sure this book was for me. This audiobook had a full cast or narrators, which I enjoyed, However, I had a hard time telling the characters apart in the beginning, By the time I could keep them straight, I hadn't connected to any of the characters. I found them really unlikeable. I did think it was interesting to know from the beginning what happened to the couple. Slowly everything falls into placed to see how the other characters are linked to the couple.

Overall, even though I had a hard time connecting with the story and the characters, I think it was still well written and that others will enjoy it.

Thanks to NetGalley and macmillan.audio for gifting me an audio ARC of the new thriller by MT Edvardsson which is atmospherically narrated by Josh Dylan; Nathalie Buscombe; and Sofia Engstrand - this was captivating and dark.
Thereโ€˜s an authorโ€™s note right at the front that I appreciated a lot about familial murder-suicides being deemed a โ€žfamily tragedyโ€œ in the news even though that is a very euphemistic usage of words.
Here it is what things seem like at the start of the book when a wealthy couple is found dead in their home with no obvious signs of intruders- but from there on out things unravel. What was really going on behind close doors and what kind of marriage were they leadingโ€ฆ Was the husband the caring pediatrician people thought him to be ? Was the wife so sick she was confined to her bed ? What about their cleaner Karla an aspiring law student with her own special baggage ? Or the man whoโ€˜s taken her in as a lodger since heโ€˜s desperate for money after loosing his wife and his job and confronting the threat of loosing his daughter as well if he doesnโ€™t find money fast. What about the pediatrician โ€˜s girlfriend Jennika can she cope with the fact sheโ€˜s been played when she discovers the pediatricianโ€˜s wife is sick but not dead like he told her โ€ฆ

When the Rytters are both found dead, all these characters are questioned about their activities. These police questionings are interspersed as short chapters in between things actually building up.
I loved the way this story was laid out - interspersed with the events leading up to the crime are the police interrogation tapes with all the potential suspects, as readers we get lots of different sources of information. It's a slow burn as we start learning how interwoven these characters are and learn about the secrets they are keeping. And that last twist - it is hard to see it coming.

Thank you Celadonbooks and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read, listen, and review!

This book started out great. I was hooked. I enjoyed the narrator's accents. I loved reading and listening at the same time. The bit of foreign language was interesting. I liked the different characters even though Bill annoyed me most of the time. Karla's character was good. There's a lesson to be learned from her. Being helpful like her is definitely not rewarding. The ending of the story was a bit disappointing to me. I was hoping for a story about "the woman inside" in her view with her personal vendetta or something but there weren't any.

This story followed Karla. She grew up with a drug addict mother. She just moved away from her mom trying to make a life for herself by going to school. She cleans wealthy people's house to support herself. She rented a room from Bill's apartment where he shared with his daughter. Bill is running low on cash and having a hard time landing a job. There's Jennica who hated men who cheats. She met Steven on tinder and they started dating. Steven is the main subject at the start of the book. In between characters' views, there are police interviews into the murder that was announced early on.

I still enjoyed the story though, not as much as the beginning.

I recently embarked on an audiobook adventure with great anticipation, eager to dive into the mysterious world of "The Woman Inside" by M.T. Evardsson Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I found myself unable to finish the audiobook. However, I firmly believe that my struggle was a personal issue with the narration, rather than a reflection of the book's potential appeal to others.

"The Woman Inside" promised an enthralling and suspenseful tale, woven with intricate layers of mystery and psychological tension. The premise was intriguing, with the potential to captivate listeners looking for a gripping thriller. M.T. Evardsson writing style showed great promise, evoking a palpable sense of unease and anticipation in the early chapters.

However, the true test of an audiobook lies in its narration, which can make or break the listener's experience and despite my personal struggles with the narration, I firmly believe that "The Woman Inside" has the potential to be an enjoyable and thrilling experience for many others. The foundation of an intriguing plot is undoubtedly present, and MT Evardsson storytelling skills show promise. For those who can resonate with the narrator's style when it comes to narration preferences, this audiobook could provide a gripping and suspenseful journey.

In conclusion, I regretfully admit that I couldn't finish "The Woman Inside" due to my difficulty in finding a rhythm with the narration. However, I genuinely believe that many others will find enjoyment within its pages.

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley. I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters. Only issue was it was a big long winded. It could have been a bit shorter.

I read Edvardsson's previous book, A Nearly Normal Family, not long ago, and found it fascinating. So I was happy to have the opportunity to read this, his newest US release, and I wasn't disappointed. Like the first book, this is set in Lund, Sweden. At the beginning of the audiobook, Edvardsson himself tells us it's a story inspired by a news story about "family tragedy", a term used in Sweden to describe family murder-suicides. What follows is a book told from three points of view - those of Bill, Karla and Jennica. I really enjoyed the way Edvardsson lets the story unfold, gradually showing us how the lives of these three people come to intersect, gradually telling their backgrounds and secrets dreams for the future - and revealing the lies they've told themselves and each other. I really enjoyed the way he wove all these elements together. I also very much enjoy his window into Swedish life and the law.
The audio version of this book is excellent, with three narrators, all of whom do a very good job of making us feel the characters' growing frustrations and desperation, without being over the top.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

The Woman Inside is told in multiple points of view, through the eyes of Bill, Karla and Jennica. The story starts immediately with a couple found murdered in their home. This story is very character driven as we learn about these three characters, their life, their involvement with each other and also the couple.ย
โ€ข
This is the definition of a slow burn popcorn thriller. Being that this one was so character driven, this definitely felt like it dragged on at parts. I loved the segments where we read witness statements, newspaper clippings, even police reports, I'm a huge sucker for some epistolary writing styles. The characters, well they were okay to me, they honestly weren't all that likeable. Bill seemed like a big old weeny that was always used to being catered to. Jennica - that woman irked my soul with herself righteousness even though she was 30 and still didn't have a job.ย  Karla was the only one (besides Sally) that I felt any kind of connection to. The fact she worked her butt of, would do anything for people she cared about and her determination to become a judge was really fun to watch throughout this read.
โ€ข
I will say that this one kept my attention, I liked the little pieces of information that were given in order to keep you reading. One of the twists I was easily able to call from the start of the book, but the execution was there. The final twist was one that I was satisfied with, though it wasn't anything overly shocking. This isn't one of those "thrilling" novels, so those of you who are looking to start to get into mystery/thrillers this would be a good one to start with.
โ€ข
I was able to listen to this one and read the physical copy. This one had a full cast (my favorite!). Josh Dylan, Nathalie Buscombe and Sofia Engstrand really made this book for me! They kept my interest, and they were a huge huge huge help with pronunciations of the names of the characters and of the places. They depicted these characters perfectly.ย
โ€ข
Overall, this was an average run of the mill popcorn thriller that is more on the character driven side. Recommending this one to all my friends that are fans of popcorn thrillers/ character driven novels. The Woman Inside was just released last week on 6/13. Huge thank you to @netgalley, @celadonbooks, @macmillinaudio and M. T. Edvardsson for the ALC and eARC in exchange for my honest review.

"Isn't that always the way; no one notices a thing until it's too late."

In the cleverly plotted The Woman Inside by Nordic noir author M.T. Edvardsson there are five main characters all flawed and some more toxic than others. By the end two of them are dead and two of them are killers.

Bill is a widower raising his young daughter Sally after his wife Miranda dies of cancer. He is in debt from all the medical bills, unemployment and a definite gambling problem.

Enter law student Karla who rents a room to help Bill with his finances. To earn money she cleans the home of the wealthy Rytters

Dr. Steven Rytter is a renowned pediatric surgeon whose severely ill wife Regina hasn't left her room, let alone the house, in a very long time.

Then there is Jennica who desperately wants a man. Her only companion is a cat named Dog. She meets a handsome rich surgeon who says he is a widower...you see where this going right? But wait, in a coincidence, Jennica use to be best friends with Bill's wife Miranda but they had a serious falling out and never reconciled before Miranda died.

Like the thread of a murder board the interconnected relationships get twisted and knotted and narrators Josh Dylan Nathalie Buscombe and Sofia Engstrand are perfectly cast as these combustible, often unredeemable characters.

This writer creatively reveals the twisty outcome with police interrogations interwoven into the events leading up to murder. Like in his best seller, A Nearly Normal Family, he leaves it up to the reader/listener if justice was served but one thing is clear, the woman inside is not always the same woman outside.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from MacMillan Audio via #, NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

For the audiobook, it was interesting to have three distinct voices. Personally, I didn't think they were all necessary since there was so much overlap in the stories, and each one was fine of their own. 1.75x speed caused no issues.

The Woman Inside reads like any mainstream thriller. The story has some flaws (the three-degrees-of-separation in terms of believability) and some perks (intrigue about the reliability of the narrators). I also really enjoyed the interspersed police investigation interrogations and the newspaper clippings with the story itself.

There's a bit of a pacing issue in terms of getting the story going, and the end comes quickly. While not entirely memorable, it's worth the time to read.

Overall: 4 stars

I'll tell my students about: alcohol, sex, language mental health/trauma, violence
