Definitely hooked me in. I enjoyed the multiple points of view and seeing all the characters lives intersect as the story went on. I more or less figured it out midway through, but still enjoyed getting to the end. The ending wasn't as satisfactory as I thought it would be, but it tied up all loose ends I guess and I did appreciate that.
I really appreciated that it was a multicast narration. That definitely added to the story and made the audiobook a success I think.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc.

This thriller takes readers into the lives of a handful of individuals who are connected to a wealthy couple, the Rytters, who are murdered in an upscale neighborhood. The story is told from different perspectives and the various threads are untangled with each chapter.
The police investigate Karla, a law student who cleans for the Rytters; Jennica, who was Steven Rytter's girlfriend; and Bill, a widower with a young daughter, Sally, who rents a room to Karla.
Karla, who worked hard to make ends meet while studying to become a lawyer, had her own secrets and burdens to bear. Bill, with his gambling problems, struggles to make a good life for his daughter. Jennica, a psychic, thought she had found the perfect man in Steven. Steven Rytter was a married doctor who was passing off as a grieving widower. Regina Rytter, the scion of a wealthy family was an addict.
In an unexpected twist, a perfect storm of passion, motive and means leads to the double murder.
I enjoyed listening to the advance copy of this audiobook.
The Woman Inside by M.T. Edvardsson is a domestic suspense. This story was a bit of a slow burn for me which I don't typically have the patience to read. I also had trouble connecting with the characters. That being said, the storyline and plot itself was decent. I just don't think this type of a whodunnit story is for me. It was a nice palette cleanser.
The narrators had very nice intonation, but the accents had me lost from time to time.

MT Edvardsson debuted in America in 2019 with A Nearly Normal Family, a novel that had it’s ups and downs but I recall liking it. The Woman Inside is a super readable mystery & domestic thriller that’s perfect for a summer weekend.
I think the synopsis says it all. There are three points of view being told by Bill, Karla, and Jennika. I really liked the narrators too, Josh Dylan, Sofia Engstrand, and Nathalie Buscombe have authentic accents and it was nice to have the actual pronunciations of places and names.
I like the three points of view because they each start as sympathetic characters. Eventually you find out that they all have dark pasts and a bit of a crazy streak. Desperation leads people to do things they probably wouldn’t usually, right?
So a murder occurs and we start seeing the lives and situations of the people around the murdered couple. We get glimpses of the police investigation which sheds further light on people’s pasts. It was a little bit hard to guess who did the first murder, and the thing that I probably like the most is that even at the end we are not 100% certain what occurred, even though the case was closed.
While many of these types of books happen in cold Nordic settings, I liked Lund in the summer. People are out on bicycles and the botanical gardens are in bloom, but there’s a darkness going on in one of the gorgeous palatial houses in the rich section of town.
Overall, this audiobook is easy to consume over the course of a weekend. I would have been flying through the pages too. I like mysteries within mysteries and Edvardsson did a great job unrolling this one. I’ll definitely be looking for any more books we get from him in the future!

Thank you @celadonbooks for a gifted copy and @macmillan.audio for the complimentary audiobook.
I read this along with some lovely ladies in the #booksncoffeebookclub and I appreciated hearing their thoughts.
I love a good domestic thriller; I was invested early on when the book opened with the double murder of a wealthy couple, staged to look like a murder-suicide.
This is one where I didn’t trust any of the characters, and I didn’t particularly like them either. But the author did a great job of slowly letting us into the characters' lives to give us the bigger picture - it created atmosphere through the characters. You have to be patient, but the brief police interrogations peppered throughout help to move things along. I did find the chaotic and messy ending surprisingly entertaining!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Celadon Books and Macmillan Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of the new thriller by M. T. Edvardsson and wonderfully narrated by Josh Dylan; Nathalie Buscombe; and Sofia Engstrand - 4 stars!
Bill, recently widowed and single parent to Sally, is desperate for money so takes in a boarder, Karla, to help with expenses. Karla is an aspiring law student and works as a housekeeper for a wealthy couple. the Rytters. The husband, who appears very controlling, has given Karla strict orders about not disturbing his ill wife, who seems intent on engaging Karla, leaving Karla to question if she is really ill. Jennica lives along with her cat, Dog, and works on a phone advice line. She meets a new man on Tinder but is he what he professes to be? When the Rytters are both found dead, all these characters are questioned about their activities.
I loved the way this story spooled out - interwoven with the events leading up to the crime from their different POV are police interrogation tapes with all the suspects, so you get lots of different sources of information. It's a bit of a slow burn as we learn how interwoven these characters are and learn all the secrets they are keeping. And that ending - you won't see it coming!
Needed more thrills.
I like how this was based on a true crime. However, as an avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, this was an average read. The ending was a tad predictable and the characters were one-dimensional.
If you're new to the genre, you might enjoy this.
***Thank you to NetGalley, M.T. Edvardsson, and Macmillan Audio for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

Worlds collide at one twisted murder suicide scene but what really happened in the house?
Bill Olsson and his precocious daughter, Sally, are struggling to put their lives together after Sally's mother recently passed away. He has lost his job and they have decided to take in a local student as a lodger. Karla is the student and has been working as a cleaning lady for The Rytters, a wealthy doctor and his very sick wife. Karla has seen the woman a few times around the house but has been given strict warnings not to disturb her as her condition is dire from this mysterious illness. Karla's suspicions are raised as the woman's symptoms begin to look a lot like her mother's addictions.
Across town Jennica, a phone psychic with a cat named "Dog" has recently started dating a wonderful wealthy man ... Dr Rytter.
This is a decent mystery with a few twists at the end but it is slow moving with a lot of interconnected plotlines that left a few gapping holes. The author talks about the inspiration behind writing this story, "a family tragedy" but it was a flimsy connection to the actual story and felt unnecessary. None of the characters are all that likable, which is okay when two end up dead and others accused of their murder, but made it a struggle to want to finish. Bill was whiny and complained about moving his daughter but would rather gamble away any money he made than to secure their futures. He and Jennica have a connection through his deceased wife, who may or may not have cheated on him with Jennica's Ex...but we never find out as that bone of contention disappears in a poof of smoke. Karla ping pongs around so much deciding what to do with her mother and her addiction that she, and I, cant tell if she's coming or going. The POV is from all three characters and a few neutral sources like the interrogation interviews. The ending was better than I anticipated and had a couple of surprises.
I had the audio version read by Josh Dylan; Nathalie Buscombe; Sofia Engstrand who all did a good job. I found Dylan to be the most enjoyable to listen to.
this book had me wanting more & more! i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. it was multiple pov's while we also learned more about the case. it was nice to learn the background of everyone involved separately. i was wrong about what happened to regina & steven, but i did enjoy the twist about what actually happened. i also really loved sally. i'm not usually one for enjoying kids in books, but sally was so sweet! i would definitely recommend to those who like thrillers!
Second try for this author and I've realized maybe they're not for me. I tried but couldn't continue at 31%.
Wow! I did not see that twist at the end coming! And I didn't expect all the cooperation between the players to happen. And honestly, it kinda felt like Dr. Rytter gets what he deserves in the end. I love that Karla is going to finally get away from the strangle-hold of emotional manipulation of her mother! Can't wait to read another book by M.T. Edvardsson!
I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple pov and the dynamic between the different characters. This one had me on my toes the entire time. I knew that with a book like this there were only a few ways for the plot to go, and still, I was surprised a little by the turn of events.
This is a slower paced mystery/thriller with more of a procedural feel, and it worked so well for the story. It took a little while to get into the story and to get a feel for the characters, but once I did, it was interesting to see how the relationships affected one another. And then closing line???
Fantastic!
This is a murder mystery of sorts, with all the deception, betrayal, detects and infidelities that go along with it. I enjoyed this one and recommend it to anyone looking for a domestic thriller that has a slower pace, but a good character development and dynamic.
I love a full cast narration so I was excited to get an advanced listeners copy of this book. This would have been one that I should have read along with my physical copy because I found myself confused at times about who was speaking, but with that said, I loved how it was broken up into different chapters that also included police interrogations, newspaper articles, and how it all came together in the end.
This was a well written thriller, and the author did an amazing job of keeping me guessing throughout the entire book. The way the four main characters’ lives intersected in unexpected ways was the perfect way to write this story. I look forward to reading more from Edvardsson.
Thank you Celadon Books, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for advanced copies in exchange for my honest review.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Would highly recommend, pretty great "keep you guessing" mystery/thriller!
The Woman Inside was a twisty and confusing read, in the best way. You follow multiple points of view, while simultaneously questioning everyone's motives.
There's murder, drama, adultery, theft, drugs, violence, sex, lies, college life, new friendships and family disputes. It has everything.
This was a really good psychological suspense, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for the audio ARC!

We read this with our book club and there was a lot to talk about.
This was definitely a slow burn, twisty and full of secrets; the characters were complex and well developed and the ending was definitely unexpected.

Bill Olson is a widowed father of a young girl, Sally. When his wife died, he was met with incredible medical debt. When he lost his job at the movie theater, he was approaching despair. Determined not to let Sally become aware of how desperate heir situation had become, he decided to rent Sally's room to bring in extra money.
Karla took the illegal rental because it was all she could afford. She was studying to be a lawyer with the goal of becoming a judge. Karla works a job cleaning houses. One of her clients was an extremely wealthy couple, the Rytters. The husband is a Dr. and the wife an heiress. Mrs. Rytter was very ill, Karla was told. Doctors had been unable to identify and teat her condition, so she was kept sedated and just slept in her room while Karla cleaned.
Things did not quite add up in the Rytter household. For one thing, the house was always spotless. Why did they need a cleaner twice a week? Dr. Rytter seemed to be a very controlling man and Karla felt uneasy around him. There are secrets in this house.
As Bill's financial situation becomes more dire, Karla makes a risky decision to find a way to help. When the Rytters are found dead, the police bring in Karla and Bill for questioning, It appears that everyone has secrets. But would they kill to keep them? How quiet is their desperation?
With multiple POVs, this is a very well told story, The characters are well developed although flawed. The Woman Inside will have you knocking down the door to see exactly what is going on,
This is a twisty story where the chapters move from Karla, who moves in with Bill and his daughter, the Rytters, whose home Karla cleans, and Jennica, a single woman who lives with her cat and is looking for love. When Jennica meets the man of her dreams, Steven, she can't believe her luck. As these stories overlap and we learn more about their lives, the anticipation of what's to come increases. I really enjoyed reading this one until reading was just not fast enough and I switched to the audio version. The different voices and accerating climax was so well done, I could not put this one down. I'm glad I started off reading it because the different people could be hard to keep straight. Fans of his other book, 'A Nearly Normal Family,' will also enjoy this one. A lot of the words translated into english arent exactly apples to apples but, easy to figure out anyway.
I didn’t love or hate this book. I know many people who have really enjoyed it, and I really liked Nearly Normal Family, so I would certainly read more by MT Edvardsson.
For me, this book is just, ok. I wasn’t particularly invested in the characters, and while I normally really like dual timelines, this one felt a little clunky. I listened to the audio and it may be that I needed to listen in larger segments to not feel a little confused with the back and forth.
Ultimately, it was enough to keep me going and see how it ended, but it just wasn’t a compelling story for me.
Kayla- the student the house cleaner
Bill- no job rents a room to Kayla
Regina- lives in a house that Kayla cleans
Steven- the employer of Kayla. Regina husband
Jeniaca- Steven's girlfriend
All the characters eventually collide together when Regina and Steven end up dead at their home
The police don't know who did it
Everyone has a different story. Everyone also has their own personal reasons why they want 1 or both of them dead.
Who killed this couple, and why
