3 stars!
The synopsis of the story really interested me significantly and I was like yeah I want to read this. Overall the book was a really speed read where there isn't much depth to the story that deeply hooks you in. The character aren't really deep as well! This book is predictable as well as there aren't much likeable characters. This book doesn't have much emotional character attachment but the narration was well done because this book had 3 POV and the narration really helped and I definitely enjoyed it!

A brilliant who-done-it novel in which the reader is taken on a journey of multiple povs of a crazy incident, which connects all of the characters.

Unfortunately I didn’t like this book. I didn’t connect with any of the characters at all. And there’s a lot of characters. After 25% I still didn’t feel invested. All the different pov’s were kind of confusing as well.

This book was absolutely insane. It hooked me in from the very first chapter and kept me guessing the whole time.

What an epic letdown after loving this authors debut. I held on as it felt like it had potential but ultimately I just didn’t care. That ending too? What a mess!

A drawn out story that just completely missed the mark for me. Moving on!

I was really drawn into the story initially, but there were a few too many back and forths between the POVs for my liking. This made it a bit confusing to follow. I also didn't really care for the ending. I did think this was a good story and I was really intrigued by the characters, but it didn't quite deliver the way I was hoping. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I listened to the audiobook, which I felt was well done by narrators.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I found having the different POVs kept me engaged throughout the entire storyline. Without giving away spoilers, I will say I thought the final conclusion of the book fell flat. But the path to get there was very well done!

This book has that feeling of “I’ve read this before” and I know which books it reminded me of immediately. That just tells me it fit into its niche quite well.

I definitely enjoyed the inserts of the interviews surrounding the crime, which gave us a sort of dual timeline - watching the story unfold and the criminal investigation after the fact.

This book is a bit wordy and too much for me at times. I did find myself wondering when it was going to get to the point. While the suspense was there, it wasn’t always enough to keep me interested.

I listened to this novel on audiobook and really enjoyed it. The story starts out with the mysterious deaths of a wealthy couple named Steven and Regina Rytter. It then goes back and forth from past to present day in the different voices of the three main narrators: Bill who is recently widowed and struggling to get by with his young daughter Sally. Karla, who is a student studying law and cleaning homes on the side for money. She ends up renting a room from Bill. And Jennica, a student who holds a position as a sort of psychic counselor through a telephone service who also enjoys finding dates on Tinder in her free time. The three characters storylines all converge with the common factor of the Rytters. Karla is a cleaning person at the wealthy residence, Jennica starts dating Steven on Tinder and is unaware that his wife is still alive, and Bill who ,desperate for money, tries to blackmail Steven Rytter. All have motives and are being questioned in the murders of the couple. So who is the murderer ? And did they act alone? This was a twisty read with such a great ending! I gave this novel 4 stars.

This started out very “Verity” like but quickly developed into its own story. Who did it kept me guessing until the end and I liked how the characters lives crossed paths. Looking back I’m not even sure who was lying and who was telling the truth. The main characters see themselves in a different view the way those around them do. While I was surprised on the “who” I wish it was a more dramatic outcome. That gasp was really what I wanted and felt like it lacked. Even at the end if there would have been a sudden revelation into a deeper why I would have been satisfied. Overall good story just lacking in shock value.

This has been posed to Goodreads.

A deceptive and devious plot that thickens as fast as a runaway train.
The story is told in 4 alternative main character prospectives that leave you utterly perplexed until the very end. The writer has such talent in describing their inexplicable stories with the wonders of her pen and weaving them into one deliciously suspenseful read.

Karla, a law student distances herself from her drug-addicted mother so she can concentrate on her studies and journey to become a judge. She takes on a job as a housekeeper at a wealthy couple’s estate, where the wife, Regina is ill and never leaves her bedroom. Her husband, Steven, is a pediatrician with a philandering eye and he seems to participate in its quest for extracurricular activities. To better concentrate on her studies, Karla moves out of the school dorms and finds a room to rent at a single father, Bill Olsoons’s home. Bill just recently widowed, has a young daughter and is struggling to make ends meet.

Drama ensues when there is a theft from the residence of the wealthy couple that leads to all-out turmoil and a bunch of questions. Why is Regina so ill and always kept in her room, while her husband is up to no good? And does Karla have any involvement in the theft at their mansion? Bill, who’s out of work and desperate for cash, decides to gamble his few reserves hoping to set a more secure life for his daughter and himself.

All these lives collide when a murder takes place and brings into question whose version of the truth you choose to believe.

This is a slow burn of a book about a "family tragedy" that may not be all it seems. The characters and writing are very compelling, and the backstory takes awhile to build, but the reader is rewarded with an excellent ending. Edvardsson is a skillful plotter and a master of characterization with great insight into the human condition. I very much look forward to his next book.

The story is a little slow initially. Once invested, I found the characters’ lives and interactions quite interesting. It held my attention.
I enjoyed listening to the audiobook version of The Woman Inside. The narration is clear and well paced. It is very easy to listen to.
Thank You NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and M.T. Edvardsson for the opportunity to enjoy the audiobook version of this this ARC.

Thank you BookishFirst for the hardcopy and Celadon Books and NetGalley for the digital copy. I thought this was an interesting premise that sounds like a few popular books smashed together but it was very drawn out and could have been shorter. Definitely a book to take notes because there's quite a few characters. I did like the short chapters and the mix of police interviews and newspaper articles that were added in between chapters to add new information or change directions.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Bill is recently widowed and struggling to care for his young daughter, Sally. He finds himself unable to find a job and falling behind on his bill payments. Perhaps his gambling addiction does not help the situation. One day he decides to advertise a room for rent to help him pay the bills and feed his daughter. Karla is quickly welcomed into their home and of course Sally is immediately attached to Karla which is very helpful to Bill. Karla finds a job working for Steven Rytter and his seriously ill wife and becomes their housekeeper in their beautiful mansion. There is one rule for Karla and that is not to bother Mrs. Rytter as she needs her rest and no one can find out what she is ailing from. Even with Steven being a doctor they still can't find the answers, or can they? Another part of this thriller is Steven is having an affair with a woman from Bill's past yet she does not know she is having an affair as Steven told her his wife is dead.....was he just pointing out his future plans or was it just an innocent secret??? Enjoy!!

What does 'family tragedy' mean to you?

Bill - Alone since his partner died, now raising their daughter alone. Money is tight and the jobs are few. Maybe he needs to take in a lodger to help pay his rent?

Karla - Balancing school with her job cleaning homes. Her latest job is maintaining the home of a wealthy couple who appear to have a lot of secrets that she finds hard to ignore. Oh, and she just moved in with Bill and his daughter as their new tenant. (Small world, huh?)

Jennica - Lives alone with her cat named Dog! She recently met yet another new man on Tinder who seems sooo different! Come on Jennica! Really!?

I love the way the author wove these stories together. The only thing you know for certain is it was all going to end badly. But how were we going to get there, and why? Well you’ll have all your answers by the end.

I came so close to missing out on this book. I’d read the previous book by this author and honestly was hesitant to pick up another. But after my buddy Susanne read it, she encouraged me to give this author another try. I came away loving this book!

I listened to the audio and enjoyed all the narrators equally.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio

Having absolutely been gripped by A Nearly Normal Family, I was excited for the opportunity to read the authors next work and I was not disappointed. My only complaint, if you could even call it that, is that it probably could be edited down to make it a little shorter/tighter. Other than that, a solid read.
This is a multiple POV murder mystery that takes place in Sweden. It’s told from the POV of our 3 main characters - Karla, Bill and Jennica, as well as transcripts of police interrogations.
Bill is a single parent and unemployed and struggling to lay the bills so he decides to rent out a room in his house as a source of income. Karla’s a student who also works part time as a cleaning lady, rents the room in Bill’s house. Jennica was a friend of Bill’s late wife, and is now dating the owner of the house that Karla cleans twice a week because Steven’s wife is I’ll and cannot take care of the house herself.
The story starts out with Steven and his wife Regina found dead in this home and the progression of the story is who did it and why. Everyone had motive and opportunity and the investigators have their work cut out for them.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this audiobook arc in exchange for my review.

This story starts with the murder investigation of Regina and Steven Rytter, a wealthy couple who were found murdered. Regina is bedridden and was bludgeoned to death and husband Steven a doctor overdosed.
Story is told from the POV of Karla, Bill, and Jennica. They all have a connection to the Rytters whom we find out also have a secret.
However, it appears our trio may have had a reason to do away with one or both of the Rytter's.
Karla cleans the Rytter’s home twice a week. (Steven has always been obsessed about the cleaning of the house which is always immaculate.)
Bill is a widow. Jennica was seeing Doctor Steven via Tinder.
Bill Olsson is struggling to raise his little eight year old daughter Sally. His wife died a year ago and he is still grieving’ the doctor bills connected with her illness put Bill in a financial situation that lead to gambling – which of course, was not a good idea. . His connection to the Rytter’s is Karla the Rytter’s cleaning lady. Olsson is renting a room to her in his home.

Karla is a twenty-two-year-old law student who has had the responsibility of caring for her drug-addict mother- her dream is to be a judge. However, while at work she took jewelry from the Rytters and gave to Bill to sell. Now
Bill is main person of interest in the murder as his finger prints were found in the Ryttter’s bedroom.

Jennica is a thirty-year old mess; she is from a wealthy family and not on good terms with them. . She was a friend of Miranda, Bill’s wife since they were children.
She currently is dating Dr. Steven Rytter whom she met on Tinder- he posted he was a widower,
(But we know better!)

Although the story had me curious, I had a hard time with most of these unlikeable nasty mouth characters. They seem to believe that a sentence contains a subject, verb and f-bomb! They challenged my low tolerance for profanity.
I haven’t read many ‘Nordic Noir’. Did read and liked [author: Jo Nesbo]. My favorite was [book: The Snowman]. I cannot remember if there was a lot of profanity however, if I really like the story I can tolerate it!!!!!
~ (I know I am in the minority regarding this as most readers don’t ever notice the over use of profanity.)

I hung in there as I saw some great Goodreads reviews from readers I trust.

The narrators were all great in performing their characters! 😊

Although I had a hard time with this story as well as rating it; I am glad I stuck with it.
The ending was bizarre and I am sure there will be a lot of great Book Club discussions.
~I did like Bill who certainly mad bad choices but loved his’s relationship with Sally
~ I also liked Karla and hopes she becoming a Judge
~ hmmm cannot come up with anything nice to say about Jennica~😔

Want to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for granting me this unusual early audio Galley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for June 13, 2023.

3.5⭐
Genre ~ domestic thriller
Publication date ~ June 13, 2023
Page Count ~ 384
Audio length ~ 10 hours 45 minutes
Narrators ~ Josh Dylan, Nathalie Buscombe, Sofia Engstrand ~ all enjoyable
POV ~ multiple 1st
Featuring ~ infidelity, controlling spouse, drugs

We have a few main characters, so hallelujah for multiple narrators.
Steven ~ husband of Regina, who is home bound.
Karla ~ rents from Bill and cleans Steven & Regina's house.
Jennica ~ is dating Steven (yup, the same one that's married)

Who killed Steven & Regina is slowly revealed as we go through the multiple pov's, with some interrogation transcripts thrown in. There's a whole cast of unlikable characters that'll keep you wondering. Overall, this wasn't a perfect thriller, but I was invested. I'd give this author a go again.

Told with chapters alternating among the main and some minor characters, The Woman Inside doesn't live up to its promise. In the hands of a more skilled writer, The Woman Inside could have been a wonderful book. Regrettably, it is not. While the format works well and the narrators do an excellent job, the story is not as interesting or complex as it could have been - and the clues point to the resolution well before we listeners/readers get there; the characters, too, are under-developed. Even the young recent widower and father of an 8-year-old girl becomes an unsympathetic figure. By the end, I was rooting for police investigation to turn out differently, although it was clear from the start that it wouldn't. I have not read any of Edvardsson's previous work and I won't be rushing to read whatever he produces next.
