This was weird. A lot of awful people being weird. It was good though. I loved all the narrators.
Bill was whiny and self centered.
I was invested in finding out who did the murder, so that is cool. Bill needs to get his shiz together though.

I loved A Nearly Normal Family so I jumped at the opportunity to review The Woman Inside. I like how the author started the story with a discussion about how Sweden has a terminology, “Family Tragedy”, for a crime committed within a family unit that has no outside interference/connection. And thus begins this tale. There are a lot of characters and moving pieces so it’s not always the easiest story to follow. But the author definitely pulled things off at the end. Kudos and applause! 👏
As for the audiobook, I found it a bit weird how the narrators were British and sometimes they gave side characters different British accents and they always pronounced Swedish words in a Swedish accent. I would have preferred Swedish narrators as they would have been able to lend authenticity to accents from different regions and pronunciations of Swedish words.

*Thanks to MacMillan Audio & NetGalley for this advance audiobook copy for review.

The Woman Inside
- Mystery
- Slow Burning Suspense
- Twists & Turns
- Great Characters
I enjoyed the storyline of this book! I also liked how it flipped through characters with each chapter. I thought the characters were all excellent! Loved all of the twists and turns each of them took! I wasn’t exactly sure how the end was going to turn out so it kept me in suspense! I had the audiobook version of this and all of the narrators did great! I think it definitely complimented this story and it’s characters!

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!

M.T. Edvardsson's "The Woman Inside" was not as interesting to me as his previous book; "A nearly Normal Family". That being said I did enjoy the intrigue and the character descriptions - if only they hadn't all been so unlikable!
The book opens with a double murder in an expensive villa in Lund, Sweden. It is pretty obvious from the beginning that the murderer(s) should be found among a small group of people, thrown together by circumstance. All of them has their own flaws and baggage, and a tendency to make the wrong choices every time! It makes it difficult to really care what will happen to any of them, and the reveal of the murders fall a little flat at the end.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to listen to and review this audiobook..

Thank you M. T. Edvardsson for writing this twisted novel about a "cheating" doctor in a twisted relationship outside his marriage and a pathetic middle-aged father who probably never really amounted to much other than being a great dad and probably a loving partner. I liked the way the author put together a story line that brought friends from long ago into present day. I particularly liked Carla, a career minded woman willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead and not end up like her addicted mother, who is compassionate and hardworking. I am grateful to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook before it is released. It was one of those books where you definitely didn't see the ending coming. (Rounding up)

Thank you Netgalley & MacMillan Audio for an ALC of The Woman Inside by M.T. Edvardsson. I recently read A Nearly Normal Family, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands - and ears - on this author’s latest novel prior to pub day.

I really enjoyed the multiple narrators in this one to bring the story to life. A wealthy couple ends up murdered in the nicest part of town - What on earth could’ve happened?

Bill Olsson is a recently widowed single dad. He has a lower, Karla, stay in his home to make ends meet. As a housekeeper, she works for the Rytters - A wealthy couple who seems to be a mystery in so many ways. The plot gets a LOT more complicated than this, but I hate to give something away.

Multiple POVs and a true psychological thriller that will keep you guessing, I really enjoyed how everything came together in the end and felt satisfied. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

This book started off confusing with all the characters and storylines but once I took notes I was able to keep track. I really liked the story and how it all came together. I listened to this one and liked the narrator. The accent was a little difficult to understand in the beginning but again once I got into it it was good!

This was a slower burn, but it kept me engaged the whole time. I enjoyed the story, trying to guess who did what, and the narration was great. I always worry about books that are translated, but this one was really well done.

I gave myself a few days to digest this read. It was just so good. My only point deduction was because it truly was a slow burn.

Multiple POVs can sometimes be a bit much when it’s more than two, but this one had 5 and every single story was fascinating. It takes a while to connect them all. It feels predictable and you think you’re right, BUT there is a twist you might not expect.

A fun read and listen of who done it that will keep you invested. It might feel like it’s dragging out but it’s worth continuing.

Thanks so much NetGalley and Macmillan audio for the ARC audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the arc! I confess I haven’t read Edvardsson’s previous novel, even though it’s been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. So, this is my first read of his. I found the introduction interesting and the characters were set up well for their various motives in the murder we soon find out occurred. I enjoyed the interwoven police interviews and brief articles about the murder and thought it added flair. Unfortunately, while the motives themselves were clear, I didn’t feel as though there was enough development of the characters and the “reveal” while intriguing, felt slightly unearned since we didn’t really know any of the characters well. Overall, this was an enjoyable, quick read. 3 ⭐️. This releases June 13th!

This was my first M.T. Edvardsson and when I started I wasn't sure, but then I was hooked. I needed the answers. How in the world did this perfect storm of crazy pan out. Now I know and I think that if you like a Suspense Thriller then you'd like it too.

This book follows a few "main characters". Bill who is recently widowed with a young daughter. He is struggling financially and decides to take on a room renter for the money. Enter Karla who is a college student looking to move out of a loud house-share so she can study in peace. She takes on a job as a cleaner for a rich couple. The Dr. Steven Rytter and his wife, Regina, who suffers from long term issues after a virus...or does she? Also in this mix is Jennica who ties in because she is dating Dr. Steven and was friends with Bill's late wife. She has no idea that Steven is married but that's basically her only redeeming quality in this situation.

I wish there were a follow up a few years from the end of this book. I'd be very interested to see how things were going with everyone.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I unfortunately couldn’t get into this book. Around the halfway point I was so lost and confused to who was who. I wouldn’t blame that on the author but some books don’t translate to audiobooks as well. This book might just be one of those books that audio was too hard to follow.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
So I had to stop and re start this one a few times because I struggled to really get into it.
Once I was able to really follow all the storylines and characters I was able to kind of put things together and it made sense.
A complicated but good book.
Narrators did a great job. Just takes a bit to put it all together.

This book was very hard for me to get into. The narrator just wasn’t doing it for me. The story has potential it was honestly just really monotone and boring. I DNF probably around 35% through. I tried to finish it I really did.

You Won’t Believe Me by Cyn Balog is one of my favorite mystery/thrillers to date. We meet many characters who are individually flawed and well meshed at the same time. Bill Olson is taking care of his daughter Sally and decides to rent out a room in his home to make some extra money. Karla, a law student and aspiring Judge, is just the perfect fit. Karla, outside of school, is a housekeeper who works for a very rich doctor and his wife who are never seen due to the wife’s illness. As Karla works for them longer she becomes very sympathetic to their situation. That is until they are both found deceased.

The book changes at this point where we start to get a glimpse of who the characters really are and your mind wonders who actually could have killed them or could the police have it all wrong. They said it was murder after all. There are multiple story tellers, each giving an account of their lives. There are triggers such as addiction and abuse but I don’t think it would affect someone’s ability to read and love this book.

I found it to be one hell of a ride that I did not want off of. The writer did an amazing job of keeping the characters likable with a twist of suspense. The ending was not what I expected and I enjoyed the narrator telling the story.

The Woman Inside by M.T. Edvardsson, when a rich Doctor and his wife were found dead in their home the police think it’s murder. Throughout the book we meet the people that could be considered suspects. First up is Bill Youngston A single dad to eight-year-old sally, who recently lost the love of his life Miranda to a brain tumor he’s been struggling with unemployment since staying home with a sick wife he’s a nice guy and he would rather owe you then cheat you out of it. Because he needs to make extra money he decides to rent out the second bedroom since his daughter Sally sleeps with him at night anyway.. this is how he meets law student Carly she moved to Lunde from Northern Switzerland her mom has been addicted to drugs her whole life so being a caretaker comes natural to Carly to make extra money she cleans houses and one of the houses she cleans is for Steven and Regina but we also get to know Stephen from the third and final POV and that is Jenika They meet on a date set up on Tinder and Jenica is swept away on the first night she falls and falls hard but Jenica has a pet peeve that is men who cheat so when Stephen tells her his wife died after a long struggle with an immune illness her heart goes out to him she thinks he is too good to be true it while she’s getting to know Steven Carly on Mondays and Wednesdays shows up to clean the house in Regina insist she drink tea with her and despite Steven telling Carly not to speak to his wife and to send her back to bed Regina insist in the more Carly talks to Regina the more sympathy she has for the sick woman. Lunde Switzerland seems to be a very small place where most people know each other and that includes Bill and Jenica. Jenica was once Miranda‘s best friend but due to something that happened at a party Jenica not only stopped being Marandas friend but got her other friends to stop being friends with Miranda as well. Bill has never forgotten nor for Gabe Jenica for hurting his beloved Miranda. Throughout the narrative of us getting to know who and why they are suspects they also have bits of the interrogation from the police unlike the authors first book where we got to know the police quite well in this book they’re just side characters with no names but irregardless the tension and suspense was still there and every time you would think oh they must’ve done it something else happens and you’re like oh wait maybe they did it? I wish I was really good at writing reviews because I would love to get this one a great review to convince everyone they should read this book this book is over 10 hours long and I am telling the truth when I say I didn’t press pause except for one time and that was to go brush my teeth because I thought I was going to bed but once I got coffee in my bed I turn the book back on and it’s five hours later and I still haven’t gone to sleep. This book is so good and I really loved his first book A Nearly Normal Family and thought that was a stellar read but this one was so much better this is a great book and one I will probably read again in the future because it is just that good! I cannot end this review without saying something about the three awesome narrators the one who did Bill, Carly and Jenica were all great top-notch narrators and brought so much awesomeness to the book I truly truly enjoyed their narration. A total five star listen! I received this book from NetGalley and McMillan audio but I am leaving this review voluntarily. Please forgive any mistakes I am blind and dictate my review.

I know I'm the Lone wolf here and to be honest I couldn't get past the half way mark. There were just too many characters that I was never able to get a hold of, which is unlike me.

Also, I think (but no expert) the translation was clunky and didn't help

Thank you MacMillan for the audiobook review copy of The Woman Inside! This is a moody, edgy audiobook but... I just could not follow the plot for some reason. The narration and production were fine but it was a case of feeling disengaged from the writing, never drawn in enough to get invested in the story.

I think the writing, not the audiobook, just wasn't there for me and I couldn't easily follow along with the different POVs and wasn't feeling all that connected to many characters outside of Karla. I found it particularly hard to follow along with Bill's story.
This might be the case of wrong reader/listener but I made it about 50% and felt like I just didn't know what was going on and not because it was a slow burn anticipation of what was going to happen.

Newly widowed Bill Olsson is trying to provide for his young daughter Sally, when he rents a room to Karla, a law student, to make a little extra money. Karla works as a housekeeper to make ends meet, and her clients are the Rytters, an incredibly wealthy couple who lives in a beautiful home. But something about the husband doesn’t sit right with Karla, as he insists on keeping his sick wife locked away in her room. The more Karla gets to know his wife and Bill, the more sympathetic she becomes to both of their situations. But when the Rytters end up murdered, it becomes apparent that everyone in this story is hiding something. But which of them would murder them I keep their secret?

Simply put: I just really enjoyed this thriller. I switched between the audiobook and physical book easily, as the chapters from each characters’ point of view made it easy to follow along. The characters drew me in immediately, as they were regular, everyday people in a desperate situation. I also liked the “work backwards” approach the author took, where we knew the couple had been murdered and work back through the events leading up to it. It was a unique and refreshing read.

“The Woman Inside” releases June 13th! Thanks to MacMillan Audio and Celadon for the ALC/ARC! This review will be shared to my Instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

I felt like this book was more of a mystery who done it verses thriller. The doctor and his wife are found dead in their house but who murdered them and why? This had a cleaning lady and sick wife which you weren't sure if she was really sick or was husband making her sick? Bill, Karla and Jennica all have reasons to do it.

I did this as an audiobook and it was long over 10 hours. Thankfully I could speed it up to 3 times normal to get through it but some of it just seemed very drawn out and it was hard for me to stay focused as I wanted more action.

I liked the different POV's and overall good book. I liked the ending as it was a surprise. If you like to try and figure out who the killer is you will like this book.
