This is a lovely summer read, full of animals especially two incredibly lovely dogs that I had a real soft spot for, a gorgeous Greek guy and a whole lot of fun.
I loved getting to know Tania and her aunt Judith, as well as all the other volunteers at this Greek animal rescue.
It was a joy to read, and I always love Sue Roberts descriptions of Greece and this was no exception. I felt transported to Crete and just really wish I had been able to read this in the sun myself.
I loved how Tania was able to see how everyone else's lives could be improved but she couldn't initially work out what it is she really wanted to do, and whether she could trust her instincts.
Always a pleasure to read a book from this author and this was no exception.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This is a lovely relaxed book, with romance, humour and lots of lovely rescue dogs.
I've never been to Greece and now I want to go. The descriptions of where Tania is staying, it sounds idyllic and so beautiful. I really want to visit Greece after reading some of what it's like.
A stunning setting, so well written that you truly feel like you're exploring Greece. I was completely captivated by the story and could not put it down. Literally looking at flights to Greece right now thanks to the amazing descriptive writing!
Sue Roberts is back to brighten up your summertime with her latest wonderfully romantic new novel, There’s Something About Greece.
When Tania’s aunt Judith asks her to accompany her to Crete for the summer, she finds herself torn between excitement and trepidation. She has barely managed to recover from the acrimonious end to her last holiday romance, but thinks that the time has come for her to draw a line under the past and embrace new experiences. The second she sets foot on Crete, Tania falls under the island’s spell – until she realises that her aunt is unwell. Needing to unwind and to stop herself from worrying, Tania heads off for a dip in the sea and bumps – literally! – into a handsome Greek God called Nicos! Could Tania’s holiday be looking up?
With fate conspiring to throw the two of them together, Tania and Nicos begin to spend more and more time together and as temperatures rise and feelings intensify, they find themselves falling head over heels in love with one another. As Aunt Judith’s health improves, Tania realises that her time on Crete is coming to an end. But is she ready to bid farewell to the man who has come to mean everything to her? Can she leave her old life behind and begin to call Crete home? Tania’s last holiday romance had almost destroyed her, but is she ready to risk her heart again? Or will her fears and doubts cost her the man she is meant to be with?
Sue Roberts’ books are the next best thing to a holiday and she has outdone herself with There’s Something About Greece. Witty, sparkling and romantic, There’s Something About Greece is a magical and enchanting tale with wonderfully drawn characters, laugh out loud humour and heart-warming emotion.
A terrific romantic comedy that will make you laugh out loud, summertime escapism doesn’t come any better than Sue Roberts’ There’s Something About Greece.
I love Sue Roberts and thats probabaly because Greece has my heart and i have toured all over the country, mainland and islands and sues books are just amazing.
This book is set on Crete and i couldnt put it down, once i read a chapter i was age turning so quickly i almost finished it in a day in the Greek heatwave.
We have the usual pre story of heartache that sends Tania onto the island, Her parents dont live in the UK anymore so shes feels alone, her aunt offers her an opptunity to help her out with the animal sanctuary she runsa and Tania jumps at the chance. She meets Nico, but what happoens is for everyone else to read this summer read.
What a lovely story. The descriptions were so vivid that I felt I was there in sunny Greece. Beautifully written and very addictive wor5h more than 5 stars. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Allow this book to transport you to the shores of Greece and indulge in a beautiful romantic novel. The descriptive writing style envelopes you in warmth and sunshine. The characters are delightful and this is book to be enjoyed with a glass of something cool.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
This was a great little vacation read. A heartwarming story with good characters, good food, great scenery and a dog rescue, what more could you need. Tania offers to go to Greece to help her aunt Judith out with her dog rescue while she has knee surgery. I loved the idea of the rescue taking on volunteers from anywhere on an at least six week basis, what interesting people you would meet. As Tania settles in to the routine, she meets handsome neighbour, Nicos, could he be just what her heart needed. Could she start over in Greece and have the life she has always wanted. It was a lovely story and I enjoyed reading it.
I absolutely loved this book, fantastic characters which come alive to the reader, quirky animals, great plot and some sensational locations. Sue Roberts writing style makes the reader feel they are there.
Tania’s aunt Judith runs a rescue centre and the whole book revolves around this. Loved the community feel of the book. Overall a book I can highly recommend, entertaining and enjoyable, perfect reading ! and there’s a second book in the pipeline!
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookoutre and Sue Roberts for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Loved it !
When Tania's aunt Judith invites her to stay for the summer, Tania simply can't say no. Especially as the stay is to spend the summer in Greece. The sun, the history, the food, the atmosphere, the music. How could she possibly say no.
Once Tania arrives however she descovers that her aunt is actually having alot of trouble getting around and is in alot of pain. Having put off having a knee operation for far too long. So Tania tells her aunt that she will take over the running of the animal rescue centre so that Judith can go and have her operation, and Tania can look after her while she is recovering.
It is while here that Tania meets Nico's who is her aunt's next door neighbour who wants to do all he can to help out.
As they spend more time together they spend more time together. Will Tania end up staying and making a new life for herself in Greece.
A great if predictable summer read. But another good read by Sue Roberts.
love sue roberts books about greece, it’s like losing yourself with old friends.
currently on holiday and have binge read 2 of her books and i would recommend both.
a fun read full of warm characters you want to be friends with
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. It was so fun and it makes me want to go to Greece.
I am so glad there is another book after this one. I did not want this one to end. I wanted the journey to continue.
If you're looking for a summer read than I definately recommend this one.
A great summer read, with great location – now I want to book a holiday to Crete!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Another Greek corker!
I always wait impatiently for a new Sue Roberts book to come out as they always make me laugh out loud and are usually based in my favourite place on Earth 🇬🇷 Greece. Although none as yet have been set in Kos which I would love to read!
This has all the ingredients for a fabulous story, great characters, lovely animals, fabulous scenery and landscapes described perfectly so I can picture them.
The only reason I have given this a 4 instead of a 5 is I did not find as much humour in this book. This did not take away from the story at all. I loved every page but for me I always look forward to a tummy tickler from Sue x
This was a good read. A slower pace than I usually go for which made it a bit difficult to read at times but I think that is more me and my preferences rather than the book itself.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a review.
Tania’s aunt Judith invites her to spend the summer with her in Greece and after evaluating her reasons not to go, Tania really can’t find any. Her job is going nowhere and a summer on Crete might be just what the doctor ordered.
Once Tania arrives at the villa, she sees that her aunt Judith is having trouble getting around and has been putting off having knee replacement surgery. Tania doesn’t want to see her aunt in pain, so she offers to take over running the animal rescue so that Judith is able to have the surgery she desperately needs and has time to recover.
Tania meets Nicos, a handsome local when she is out one day. He also happens to be her aunt’s next-door neighbour and is quick to offer a helping hand when needed.
As the weeks pass, Tania spends more time with Nicos and tries not to think about her time in Greece coming to a close…until he offers her a life together if she were to stay. She doesn’t want to chance getting her heart broken, but can she pass up the opportunity of forever?
This is a perfect summer read! I enjoyed this novel by Sue Roberts as much as I have enjoyed the others she has written about Greece. I will definitely recommend it to others and look forward to my next opportunity to explore a part of Greece through the pages of a book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #TheresSomethingaboutGreece
TBH, this was a DNF for me and I had to give up at the halfway point.
I tried so hard to enjoy this book as it takes place in Greece and involves a canine rescue, but sadly it was not for me.
Take a trip to Crete with Tania, who is in need of a fresh start. The book is an easy read, but don't expect a rom-com where misunderstandings quickly pile up and ultimately lead to a happily ever after. This is a very slow burn summer read, ideal for a little escape from reality.
I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.
I read so many thrillers that it was nice to read a feel good story. It’s a book about taking a leap, friendships and love. I loved the setting and all the descriptions of the places they went. I could feel the beautiful backdrop and almost feel the heat. I liked Tania. She’s so willing to help others and listen like a good friend. She opened up so easy to everyone. Telling her life story and helping other figure out problems they did not know they had.
I either hadn’t read the synopsis or had forgotten it by the time I read it, because I also liked the tease over all the eligible men that Tania met. And I am always going to love a book with a dog rescue. While I liked all the characters in this one, Smudge might be my favorite. A Hungarian Vizsla, which I had to look up, that is overly excited all the time.
This really was a great book to bring my reading back to reality and give me a smile and a good character to root for.
let me say first and foremost that the following review is not a reflection of the author's work but more of my experience with the book. bad experience🤺
maybe it's my fault for expecting a romcom? or a novel where anything happens?? I didn't expect a detailed vacation in Greece and that's it nothing else😐
the love interest felt like a background character for the entirety of the book, MC is just vibing and chatting with all the co-workers on and on and on.😴
if I had to describe this book in a few words I'd say : imagine a bunch of characters with life stories and plans, and all they do is talk about it. 🧍♀️
very long read despite the moderate amount of pages, I wanted to DNF so bad I almost fell asleep reading at some point because of how bored I was.
judging by the crazy amount of books from this author centered around Greece I'm guessing she LOVES the place but when writing a book it's nice to have some sort of plot too 🥰
