Grab your apple cider, your best smelling fall candle, and this book. It's the perfect read to get you in the mood for Fall.

I loved the storyline and premise of this book, I mean what a fun and spooky way to have a bit of romance. This is a light read that will make you smile and keep you turning the page for more. Riley was a cute character and I loved her finding out her heritage and "gift".

I did feel like something was missing for me, I wanted more depth to Riley's journey...the plot...the characters, just something. I just wanted more. This is like a cute Hallmark movie, which isn't a bad thing if that's your vibe.

"Juggling newfound witchy powers, a house full of ghosts, and verbal battles with the handsome local librarian is almost too much for a new witch to manage. A new witch with a coven, however, can get so much more done...

From the moment Riley Everett set foot in Starfall Point, magic bubbled inside of her. But with only her late aunt's journals and a cantankerous live-in ghost butler to instruct her on all things witchy - including her newly inherited Victorian haunted house - Riley seeks out a coven for sisterhood and support. The last person she expects to be drawn to is the town's frustrating, yet ridiculously attractive head librarian.

Edison Held knows almost everything there is to know about Starfall Point, but Shaddow House was always off-limits, thanks to its elusive owner. If he can convince the new owner, Riley, to let him take a peek inside, there's so much he could learn. But as he gets closer to Riley, he's fascinated by her dazzling wit and fiery spirit. Edison will do whatever he can to help Riley keep her family legacy alive, especially if it means spending more time with the captivating new witch in town.

Bestselling author Molly Harper wields a magical pen in this hilarious, delightful witchy romcom perfect for readers of The Ex Hex and Payback's a Witch."

It's September, which means it's "officially" fall, which means you now need to read only books with witches, AKA read this book.

I haven’t smiled this much with a book in a really long time. It was such a cozy, witchy read that kept me grinning from ear to ear the whole time. From the main characters to the coven, townspeople, and ghosts…I adored every single character, even the “villain” of the story. The backdrop of the island and haunted mansion set the mood perfectly while the underlying story of grief and a need to connect really hit home.

I left my review on goodreads

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. The cover is cute. The novel itself was okay. I was just not really clicking with the main characters as much as I would have liked. But if you are looking for a good magical story you might want to give this a try. Would be good for Halloween month coming up.

Witchy perfection! So witchy books are my weakness and I cannot resist anything that has magic, cute romances and witches. This book did not disappoint, I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book, I will not spoil it but trust me, you need to read it ASAP!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks/Casablanca for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I believe this is the first in a new series. It is a fun, quirky read. I think if you like reading about ghosts/witches you might enjoy this. I loved the house and the house ghosts. The romance was just so so. There is a mystery as well. I enjoyed her exploring and growing into her new role as a witch. There is sort of a cliff hanger. 3.5 stars I would want to read the next book.

I picked this book up because I enjoy books about witches and this one sounded like fun. Molly Harper is a new author for me, but I enjoyed this book so I will be looking for the next installment in this series.

Description:
Riley Denton-Everett always felt like something was missing in her life—and her numerous odd jobs and short-lived relationships haven’t brought her any closer to finding it. Everything changes when she receives a mysterious message: You’re a Denton. You belong on Starfall Point. Once you’re here, I’ll tell you everything you need to know.

When Riley arrives on the island, she learns her aunt has left her a historic mansion brimming with haunted antiques. Turns out, that’s not the only thing she’s inherited. Riley also hails from a long line of witches whose magic is critical to protecting the living.

Edison Held, the town’s frustratingly hot librarian, is completely unaware of the ghosts in Riley’s ancestral home and is determined to convince her to open it up to the public. Riley starts to wonder if Edison’s knowledge of the island’s history can help her get a handle on her new powers—but can she trust him with her secrets? And can she trust herself with the simmering attraction brewing between them?

My Thoughts:

This was both a paranormal romance and a mystery. This house Riley has inherited is full of ghosts, so the book is a bit different in that respect. The romance was fun and the mystery surrounting Riley's aunt and her history was really interesting to me. This was a book with a different sort of twist. I hope the next book comes out soon because I'm ready for it!

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book is expected to be published on September 5, 2023.

It was a nice, refreshing, novel take on witchcraft and the witches. I liked how the Shaddow house is described. Magic used in a different way and the way Riley's struggles were explained kept the book real and under a different light. Good work by the author and so I'm Going with a 4 star.

I received this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. This book had a very interesting plot but it seemed very rushed. I think if the book had more details about her time getting used to the house/island and building the relationship with the MMC it would have been much more enjoyable. I would definitely call it a romance subplot since it wasn’t the main focus of the book. I will keep reading the series as I have read all of Molly Harper’s books but I hope future books don’t feel so rushed.

I really loved other books by Molly harper so I was really excited to start this one. Unfortunately it just didn’t grab me like some of her other books and I kinda just felt blah while forcing myself to finish.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read an eARC of Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper!

What’s this book about?

Riley travels to Starfall to meet her long-lost aunt, who remains the last familial connection to her late mother. Her venture to the island starts off rocky between her sea sicknesses and interaction with a grumpy yet gorgeous librarian,Edison. Riley arrives only to discover that her aunt has passed and left her mysterious home to Riley.

Once she steps foot on Starfall, everything changes for Riley. She must learn how to manage her new discovery of magic and also her new home, which is piled high with disgruntled ghosts. Riley goes through a journey of finding a new family on the island with her friends who make her stronger, and her budding relationship with the grumpy librarian.

My review:

Giving this one a 3 out of 5-star review. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t captivate me. At some points in the story, it felt very chaotic and just a lot going on. I enjoyed watching Riley find her family as well as her place on the island with her friends as well as Edison. Her relationship with the ghost in the house was also special. It showed her true personality in that she wanted to help them find the peace they were searching for.

I would have loved for there to be a longer explanation of kind of why her family ended up with this role of ghost caretaker. It was explained a little, but I think it could have been expanded upon. I’m looking forward to the follow up of this series to see where the story goes!

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca & NetGalley for this eArc!

I liked this! I really enjoyed the setting - a cozy, touristy island where even cars aren't allowed on some parts. It felt historical, small & really cute.

Riley comes to Starfall Point after she learns she has an aunt -- but before she can meet her, she passes away & leaves her to inherit a Victorian haunted house. It's full of ghosts & her late aunt's journals - all whom want to teach her on all things witch=related. Along the way, she meets MMC Edison, who is the handsome librarian on the island. He's always wanted to see inside Shaddow House - and he knows his way in is through Riley. What he doesn't expect is to fall for her.

I had a hard time getting into the romance - it was such a slow burn - and while I typically enjoy that, there was just something here that wasn't for me. I'm not sure if I'll pick up the next book, but overall I had a decent time with this.

Definite first of a new series vibe with this story. Doesn't take away from the pleasure as I overall enjoyed the mystery and light romance of the plot. Looking forward to the sequel.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for providing an eARC for a honest review.

Well, this book was a gosh dang delight and I can't wait to get my hands on the next in the series. It's not huge on the romance aspect, instead focusing a lot of time on the house and the new life and circumstances our characters find themselves in. Still, there was enough of the romance storyline to keep this reader interested.

I loved this book! My husband and I recently visited Mackinac Island and I was able to visualize everything Molly Harper described. The cast of characters are so endearing and I can't wait for the, "Scooby Gang," to return for book two. I'm hoping the author's move to Michigan doesn't mean she will stop writing her Kentucky series because those books are awesome too!

I love Molly Harper and Witches Get Things Done did not disappoint.

It is delightfully quirky, funny, suspenseful, and filled to the brim with ghosts.

I love the relationship between Riley and Edison and don't worry there is HEA at the end of the book.

I'm looking forward to reading about the continued relationship with Riley's new ghostly friends as well as Caroline and Alice.

I cannot wait to read the continued adventures of this crew....

Witches Get Stuff Done in the first book in Molly Harper's newest series.

I really liked the premise of the book. Riley is contacted by her long lost aunt to reconnect and she goes to Starfall Point to meet her. However, when she arrives she finds out her aunt passed away and she is the new steward of her family house which happens to be a home for a lot of haunted objects and that she is a witch.

As I mentioned before, I enjoyed the premise which is kind of a mix of BBC Ghosts the tv show meets a paranormal rom com. I think this book suffers from "first book in the series" syndrome though. It has to set up the setting, all the characters, etc... which leaves very little time for the romance in the book. There were so many subplots and characters that it was difficult to really feel much from the romance. I did enjoy the book and will probably continue the series but it certainly wasn't a new favorite.

Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper was a fun story of a family of witches who do live in secret. I grew up loving Harry Potter so a story of contemporary witches living among us is a win for me. The lead characters have interesting stories and chemistry and I liked the new friends that were made to help protect the secrets of the house.

This was such a fun witchy book! it was a lighthearted quick read with a romance plot that REALLY WOROKED. I was really enjoying it down to the maybe like last quarter? last fifth? of the book and then it just didn't hit the same as the start, I can't pinpoint exactly what happened but I ended up skimming some pages as I still wanted to finish it but I just also wanted it to be done! It's not a bad book by any means but personally I might have done some things slightly differently! Still very enjoyable if you want a cosy witchy read
