A good start to a new series. Riley finds out that her mother's sister, who she didn't know existed, invites her to the family home on an island in Michigan. Sadly her aunt dies days before she comes, but she finds out she also a witch, and can converse with ghosts. Meeting new friends, including Edison the librarian, gets things off to a good start. Liked it overall, although a few gaps at times (may be explained in future books). Liked most of the ghosts, including Plover the butler, and would be happy to see more in this series. Would recommend this book and author.

Thank you to sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this eArc!
This started off super cute, and I’m always jumping at the opportunity to read another witchy rom com. The premise was different, and the setting was picturesque and cozy, and I liked the humor.
Unfortunately the romance and the overall plot fell a bit flat. It felt like very little had actually happened by the 75% mark, and the conflict for the couple was very contrived and felt like it came out of left field. The “magic” was also very vague, and while the audience is told that Riley has gotten better at it with time, we don’t actually see much of that on page.
I’m sure some would enjoy this, and I had a fine enough time but it ultimately fell flat for me!

I love a good witchy read. This was cute and fun. This gives me hope for potential continuation of the town.

This book was a fun read, but the conflict was pretty much nonexistent until the last few chapters. It was a fun witchy story and perfect for spooky season, but it's not my favorite. The characters didn't feel very accurate and the opportunities for conflict were passed over to make the story easier. Not everything has to be a explosion in the story, but it just didn't feel real.
Juggling newfound witchy powers, a house full of ghosts, and verbal battles with the handsome local librarian is almost too much for a new witch to manage. A new witch with a coven, however, can get so much more done...
From the moment Riley Everett set foot in Starfall Point, magic bubbled inside of her. But with only her late aunt's journals and a cantankerous live-in ghost butler to instruct her on all things witchy—including her newly inherited Victorian haunted house—Riley seeks out a coven for sisterhood and support. The last person she expects to be drawn to is the town's frustrating, yet ridiculously attractive head librarian.
Edison Held knows almost everything there is to know about Starfall Point, but Shaddow House was always off-limits, thanks to its elusive owner. If he can convince the new owner, Riley, to let him take a peek inside, there's so much he could learn. But as he gets closer to Riley, he's fascinated by her dazzling wit and fiery spirit. Edison will do whatever he can to help Riley keep her family legacy alive, especially if it means spending more time with the captivating new witch in town.

This was such a warm read okay, I loved it 😭 it's a very slow-burn new girl comes into town, finds out she's a witch and gathers her cover / falls in love with a local librarian plotline, and it was truly so good.
TWs - death, paranormal activity (there are ghosts, both friendly and unfriendly), death of a parent, death of a fiance, estranged parent

Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper is a delightful and enchanting paranormal romance that immerses readers in a world of magic, ghosts, and unexpected love. Riley Everett, a new witch with a haunted house and a coven to navigate, finds herself drawn to the handsome yet frustrating head librarian, Edison Held.
Molly Harper expertly blends humour, romance, and supernatural elements in this captivating story. The witty banter between Riley and Edison adds a delightful charm to the narrative, while the exploration of Riley's newfound powers and the mysteries surrounding Shaddow House keeps the plot engaging.
The characters are well-developed, with Riley's feisty personality and Edison's intellect creating a compelling dynamic. Harper's writing style is engaging and light-hearted, making Witches Get Stuff Done a joy to read.
With its blend of magic, romance, and quirky characters, Witches Get Stuff Done offers a delightful escape into a world where witchcraft and love collide. Molly Harper's storytelling prowess shines through, making this book a treat for fans of paranormal romance and witchy tales.

I really enjoyed this book, and I’ll be looking forward to any book that comes after it. I’ll also be checking out Molly Harper’s previous books.
Thank you Molly Harper, NetGalley, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~

3.5 stars. This was fun! I love the setting and Shadow House. This book gives Practical Magic vibes but not as dark. And I love a good found family story. I’m glad it’s a series and I’m eager to read the next book. Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy

I really wanted to love this because I enjoyed most of Molly Harper's other titles and have been reading a lot of witchy rom-coms lately, but I quit reading this one at 20% because it was just so cheesy and unrealistic that I couldn't get into the story.

Such a quick and cute read. It's funny, full of (mostly) friendly ghosts, a bit of mystery, and is surprisingly sad in places.
This would have been a solid four star read for me if Riley and Edison's relationship was fleshed out a bit more. I felt no spark or chemistry - certainly not enough to explain how quickly they get together. The ghosts getting in the way of their spicy plans was really funny though.
Even though this was only okay to me, I'm planning to read the next in series in hopes we get some deeper world building and more magical fun.

unfortunately I just could not get through it. It has a cute concept but when the characters think/ notice things they really drag on and on about it. Just not the book for me.

I received this as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so cute & fun! A perfect spooky season rom com.
If you like small picturesque towns, New England coastal vibes, and ghost stories with generational trauma mixed in, this book is for you! It's light, it's fun, it has found family, & a very well written mystery that will carry on for at least 1 more book!
The magic system was well thought out, and I thoroughly enjoyed unfolding it with our heroine.

I really, really wanted to love this. I was so excited to see a new fantasy series by Molly Harper that I immediately requested, but unfortunately it's not starting as strong as the Jane Jameson series. I felt that the entire book was a bit rushed and very shallow. I didn't care about the romance, because we were told about it, not shown. Developing friendships? Insta besties because of magic. The setup and the premise are so promising that I hope we'll get more depth in later books,

Witches Get Stuff Done was a fun twist on magic and the supernatural. Riley's whole life changes when she gets a mysterious email from an aunt she didn't know she had. After losing her mother she decides to go Starfall Point to meet her Aunt. Unfortunately, her aunt passed away before Riley could make the trip. Riley suddenly finds herself the keeper of a haunted house and discovers she's a witch. She's forced to stay and take care of the manor and its ghostly occupants but she finds her coven along the way. Riley is determined to make Starfall her home so she makes friends and a romance with the cute librarian. I thought this story was cute. It was an easy read with a unique take on magic and witches.

I was so excited but this was just not it. I feel like witchy romcoms are getting super popular and maybe a little too similar, because I felt like I've read this before. The material just wasn't that unique and I didn't like or care about the potential pairing. Only a few chapters in and I realized I didn't care about the story. 2.75 stars.

This was a super cute read!! At times the writing fell a bit flat for me, but the characters and plot were great and entertaining

Recovering from the recent loss of her mother and struggling to connect with her, Riley accepts her Aunts invitation to her mothers hometown. Unfortunately things dont start off on the right foot, with said aunt dying unexpectedly and finding out that Riley has magic and can see and talk to ghosts. What could go wrong in a haunted house?

A magical, humorous read filled with the paranormal, a small town, romance, and a villain in their midst.
'You're not going to explain the toaster ghost to me, are you?' 'You're not ready to meet the toaster ghost, Miss'.
Synopsis
Riley is visiting Starfall Point to see her Aunt, but when she arrives, she discovers that her Aunt has unfortunately passed away - without Riley ever getting the chance to know her.
She discovers that her Aunt has left her Shaddow House to take care of. But when she gets there, Shaddow House is a little bit different to normal houses. For one, there are ghosts everywhere - all tied to objects, and a lovely ghost butler called Plover.
'Really, Miss. There's no need for theatrics. If you're this excitable, perhaps overseeing a house full of spirits is not a suitable position for you'.
Set on a mission by her Aunt to keep the family legacy alive, Riley makes friends with Alice and Caroline to help her in the quest. At the same time, a simmering romance is brewing with the towns handsome librarian..
Thoughts
I adore anything witchy and magical, and this story drew me in. Give a girl some magic, a brewing romance, small town and friendships.. and I'm sold.
I loved seeing the relationships blossom between Riley, Alice and Caroline, alongside the romance blooming with Edison. The pacing jumps around a little bit, in terms of months or days passing, would have liked to see it more linear instead of the time jumps.
There's a definite cliffhanger waiting to set the next book right up and I'll definitely be reading!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this copy. This review is voluntary.

Such a unique book, I loved the plot, and oh my god the characters were so amazing!! I definitely will be recommending it!!

Hooray!!! The Queen of Paranormal Romance is back!
I love Ms Harper's novels and I am beyond excited to read more of Riley, Edison, Caroline & Alice's adventures (with the delightfully quirky Plover as the unapproving sidekick, of course).
Love the setting and the home.
