I recently discovered that I enjoy books about witches and when I saw that it was mixed with some mystery, I was very curious.
I was gladly surprised by this book, it's a nice romance and the mystery was fun to read. I look forward to the second book!
A big thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a fun read. Nothing groundbreaking but a nice light read between my normal fantasy series reads!

I had fun with this. Giving it a 3.25/5 stars. I enjoyed some of the characters, the magic aspect, found family vibes, & the setting of the book.
I didn’t love the romance between the two characters, it felt a bit off. It was an enjoyable read but something was missing for me.

Riley thinks she’s gonna get some answers from an Aunt she never existed, instead her Aunt has passed away and left her a house filled with ghosts, oh and the knowledge she’s a witch!
Edison is a librarian who wants to get inside Riley’s mysterious house for historical purposes, he has no idea of the magic inside.
A charming love story with ghosts, magic, and love after loss. I liked this book. Riley and Edison were both characters to root for which made rooting for their love story even all the easier to enjoy.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Molly Harper has long been a favorite author of mine and I was so excited to dive into her newest series. Witches Get Stuff Done is another super fun series about a woman who finds out she has magic. She has a core group of friends and hilarious conversations with ghosts. The dialogue in this book is everything snarky that I love about Molly Harper’s books. Add in a nefarious bad guy, a cute love interest, and her hilarious struggles to come to terms with her new magic and you have a super fun book. For a real treat, listen to this one with narration by Amanda Ranconi and Teddy Hamilton. Both were perfectly cast for their roles.
When Riley Everett travels to a small island town to meet her aunt she discovers that her aunt has passed away and left the keeping of an estate house no one else is allowed into in her care. Oh and she also finds out that ghosts exist and she’s a witch. She meets the town’s infuriating librarian, who she slowly begins to realize isn’t so awful as he first seemed. Then things start to get interesting. She meets some of her fellow residents in the town, and becomes friends with two women who wind up being part of her coven. Together they begin to untangle the web of secrets that is Shadow House, help ghosts move on, and start to tackle her aunt’s final mission.
I love how I can grab a book by Molly Harper and know I’m going to enjoy it. She combines humor, intrigue, snark, and paranormal happenings together to write stories that are impossible to put down. I’ve even reread several of her titles which given how many books I have on my TBR is a serious compliment to her fantastic stories. When I want a laugh and fantastic story, I can always find that in Molly’s books.

I really wanted to like this book. I love a good witchy book and I have heard great things about Molly Harper as an author. Unfortunately this book fell very flat for me.
We are following Riley who is traveling to Starfall Point, Michigan with hopes of meeting an aunt she didn’t know she had. When she arrives she learns her aunt has passed away and she has inherited Shaddow House, which turns out to be a house full of ghosts. We area also following local librarian, Eddison, who has been trying to get a glimpse of Shaddow House for years.
The premise of this book was very promising, but I did not feel that the book lived up to the promising premise.
Nearly every character seemed to have some sort of tragic background to the point that it felt that the tragic backgrounds were being used to give the characters depth rather than relying on true character development.
There were quite a few things that came across as very nonsensical and made me roll my eyes. Riley and Eddison have a very awkward first meeting as Eddison is terrified of boats and stays in the ferry bathroom to help him through the trip, but Riley is quite seasick and needs to use the bathroom. That alone has the potential to create a fun and lighthearted enemies to lovers vibe, but instead, even though everyone in town seems to know why Eddison struggles with boats, they turn against him instantly because he offended Riley, who they have never met.
We learn that Eddison’s fear of boats stems from a boating accident that led to the death of his fiancé. Again, that alone was fine, but then it turns out that adds to what seems to be a very toxic relationship with his parents that really didn’t add to the story. His parents have been disappointed in him for not having a more powerful career. On the day of the boat accident, they pushed Eddison to go out on the boat despite a storm coming in, promising they would be back before the storm hit. They get stuck in the storm and the boat capsized and fell apart. Somehow, if his parents had not called the coast guard so quickly, he would have been blamed for his fiancé’s death, so now he owes his parents and maintains the toxic relationship with them. It just made no sense to me and added nothing to the actual plot of the book.
Overall, this was just not the book for me, and I struggled to finish it. I liked many of the side characters more than the main characters. There were some sweet found family vibes that were slightly redeeming.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first time reading this author and I found her style catchy. The little island community with its quirks and quirkier residents. The newcomer set to visit her long last aunt only to find she lives in a strange home with odd needs. The chemistry between the ladies was instant and necessary for their newfound tasks. I really wanted the chemistry to be off the charts for Edison and Riley but it seemed a little forced. I enjoyed the mystery of the house, the friendships and the storytelling was easy to lost in. I read an early copy from NetGalley and wrote my review voluntarily and honestly.

This is my first read from Molly Harper
Riley inherits a house from her Aunt that holds many secrets. When Riley lands in Starfall Point she instantly feels a pull to magic.
Edison had been trying to get into the house for many years to learn its history. Without giving away the story, Riley must learn to navigate her new home, finding her witch coven and the mysterious lurker around her house.
While some aspects of the book seemed a rushed, I really enjoyed the romance and mystery this book had. I’ll definitely read more from this series

This was fun though there is a LOT to get your mind around. Witches! ghosts! secrets! but it's a good set up for a series, this could be a very fun bunch of books.

I’ve been obsessed with Molly Harper’s stories for as long as I can remember. I’ve listened to the Half-Moon Hollow series twice. So of course, I had to jump into this new series from one of my favorite authors! Starfall Point is just as fun, unique, and quirky little town. Molly writes so descriptively that it was easy to picture every detail of the town and especially Riley’s new mansion. The ghosts are all just as unique and interesting as the town. Riley and Edison’s connection was easy and real. They are both witty, loyal, and kind. Riley’s cute quirkiness was a great match for Edison’s library brain. I loved their chemistry and fun banter. An exciting start to a new series.
I’m grateful to NetGalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. As an audiobook lover and fan of Amanda Ronconi, I just had to purchase the audiobook. Amanda and Teddy Hamilton nailed this performance. I can’t imagine Molly’s books without Amanda Ronconi. Both narrators expertly embodied each character. They brought them, the haunted mansion, and the whole town to life. Their timing, pitch, pace, and tone were perfect. Their character distinction and vocalization are unparalleled.

Riley Everett is on a boat to meet a long lost aunt. Desperate to have a connection to her mother who has passed, Riley is battling sea sickness and can’t get into the bathroom. Someone has locked themselves in and won’t come out. As the door opens, Riley can’t help but yell at the jerk and then vomit all over his shoes. What a way to make your presence known! As Riley arrives, she finds out her aunt has passed away and left her this huge house with lots of secrets. The whole town is hopeful that a Riley will be the one to let them in and see what’s inside. Even Edison, the jerk and head librarian of the town. What Riley soon finds out is that her blood has a haunted history with the house. As usual Molly Harper creates lovable characters and funny situations.

This was a fun read!
I loved Riley and the characters, and the storyline and humor were great. It was easy to read since it sucked you in and kept you interested.
I'd definitely read this again and look for the next book!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing team for this ARC!
This was an easy quick read! Riley is invited to Starfall by a long-lost aunt and discovers much more than she bargained for with magic, ghosts, and witchy powers. I enjoyed the writing style, Riley and her coven, Starfall as a lovely small town, and the shenanigans that come with it. I did not enjoy the romance. Edison and Riley were way too insta-love for me. They had an awful first meet and had zero chemistry that carried them along the way. I don't know why they wanted each other so if this was a story only about Riley and her family without the romance.

Who doesn’t love a witchy romance in the middle of July? This book was tons of fun! It’s heavy on the magical storyline and lighter on the romance, but I didn’t mind because the concept of the Shaddow House was so interesting.
This book has:
• A small-town romance 🏠
• Low angst: The characters got together almost immediately, so if you’re looking for an angsty slow-burn, this is not for you
• The found family trope

3 stars

This book was... fine, just fine. There were parts that I liked about it-- Riley and her coven, Starfall, Plover, the non-gross ghosts in Shaddows house. There were things that I didn't like about it-- I could have really done without Riley's relationship with Edison because there was absolutely zero chemistry between them and I felt like I've read books exactly like this before that were done better. But in the end there wasn't anything driving me forward to read about their escapades. Its very unlikely that I pick up the second one unless someone places it in my hands on vacation and I don't have anything else to read on hand. Overall, great premise, so-so execution.

Molly Harper's Witches Get Stuff Done is a captivating novel with something for everyone; witches, ghosts, romance, secrets, mystery, and intrigue. It follows the story of Riley, who inherits an unusual Victorian home called Shadow House from her eccentric Aunt. To her surprise, she discovers the house is filled with ghosts and haunted objects and that she is a witch in charge of maintaining her family's long legacy. The mystery surrounding her Aunt and the secrets she left behind make the story even more fascinating. The book is the first in the Starfall Point series, and the town of Starfall Point provides a charming and enigmatic backdrop for the story. I enjoyed seeing the island through Riley's eyes and how she found a sense of belonging and her people. The friendship forged between Riley, Alice, and Caroline was heartwarming. Naturally, my romantic heart couldn't help but root for the budding romance between Riley and Edison. Given their shared past of heartbreak and solitude, they make a perfect match, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for them. The unexpected twist at the end left me eagerly anticipating the second book's release. If you're a fan of paranormal stories with a touch of romance and mystery, I strongly suggest reading this book.

Riley feels like something is missing from her life. She received the message that She needs Go somewhere. When she arrives, she learns that her aunt has passed and she inherits the house from her aunt.
She also learns that she is from a long line of witches whose magic is important to the protection of the living.
I was expecting a paranormal romance. And this book definitely had that. But it also had a really great mystery at the core.
And it was absolutely delightful that the house that Riley inherited is full of ghosts. Who are very much their own characters.
She meets Edison who is the town librarian and he is blissfully unaware of the haunted status of her house. He's trying to convince her to open the house up to the public. And she is wondering if his knowledge of the town history can help her.
The romance was a very fun to read and the mystery was quite intriguing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This read like a bad Lifetime movie, which is not to say the book itself was bad. It was just a little cheesy, some things seemed like they were just thrown together, and the writing was akin to bad acting. But at the same time, I still liked the book. The plot was fun, and sometimes cheesy is sweet. If some things could be cleaned up a bit, I think this series in general could be enjoyable. If you’re looking for something easy to read, like a bit of magic and ghost dealings, this book is a cute read.
Thanks NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC of this book.

Book Review
Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper
This book is easy to read with a really strong start! I thought the intro chapters sucked me in and I wanted to know more about each of the characters... including the house! However, as the story went on, it felt more and more low stakes and not like any rule was really set in stone.
Overall, it was an easy enjoyable read.

Witches Get Stuff Done my Molly Harper is great! I really enjoyed all of the the characters and the story line, and of course Molly's signature humor.
