𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹: 'How is the book?' 'YES.'
This book has everything, and I mean ev-ery-thing. It's gutwrenching, heartclutching, and -warming, endlessly spicy, enthralling, just damn. Laura, girl, you've really outdone yourself on this one. Totes recommend, Quadrillion/10 stars. Everyone, go read this book!
𝗜𝗻-𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹: First off, synopsis.
Death–the final horseman–has come to earth and while he plucks the souls of every mortal crossing his path he cannot cleavage young Lazarus's soul from her body. And his desire to take her is overpoweringly carnal. Meanwhile Lazarus fights with the numerous losses dealt to her by Death's hands, and in her resolve to stop winged death, the other horsemen guide her towards the only path to salvation: Seduce Death, because as we have seen; Love is the death of duty. But is it really?
Damn, but this book.. Laura has again proven her ability to bring unique characters and stories to live, and with every new book of her you can feel the growth she takes as an author.
The emotions in the book are exquisite and the love of Thanatos and Lazarus is a palpable, tangible, living thing that reverberates in every dialogue and interaction between them. So is the conflict driving them both and it. is. MESMERISING. The fight both heroines carry out between their pull towards one another and their duties & loyalties is heartwrenching and gutclenching. 💔 The spicyness of the book also greatly overshadows the previous books. 🔥
I definitely know why I have been waiting for this book.
Especially the Epilogue is beautifully haunting. It's a perfect end to an amazing series, that opened a chasm in my chest, and filled it with a hollow, blissful void and an agonizing bittersweetness.
If you excuse me now, I'll go lay in the corner and ugly cry to digest this massive book hangover. QvQ
Death by Laura Thalassa
This is the 2nd time I've read this book. I received an ARC from NetGalley for the rerelease.
The end of the series. A story in four parts. Will humanity be redeemed? Who could fall in love with Death? Who could spend time with Death? Touch Death? Lazarus, who can't die. Lazarus, who regenerates like the Horsemen.
I've read this series twice, and it won't be the last time. I have so many highlights in this book, these two are favorites.
“Life and death are lovers, kismet,”
“People bend, Thanatos,” I say fervently. “When they care for each other, they bend.”
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ahh, this was my favourite book out of the four, the intricate plot and the romance and the final resolution of the horsemen were all so so cool. The MCs are - Thanatos, who's well, Death, and Lazarus, who is a spin on Life (!!). Having two MCs who are basically antiheroes to each other but who are insanely attracted to each other was one of the best parts of this book. This book was a proper rivals to lovers trope, and Laura Thalassa has written it so well 😭 I was also super satisfied and in love with the final ending for the four horsemen!
TWs - death, violence, gore
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!
Whew. What a finale for the series! The MMC is actually a good hearted hero that I just melted for, which given his title I was surprised by this. I love how we got glimpses into the other couples from the series and felt like that really tied together the finale. This series is a must read!
4 stars
Omg yes! I knew I was going to love Death!
He was such a cinnamon roll! One that can definitely unalive you but a cinnamon roll either way.
I love that he was sweet and caring. Even if he was murderous at the beginning of the book, I just adored him.
Laz was fantastic, too. I feel like this couple was definitely my favorite because they fit perfectly with each other in every way.
I wish someone had told me this series wasn't interconnected and the books can be read as standalone because then I'd read this months ago.
Overall, yes, this series has basically the same plot but with different couples and settings, and yet... this book stood out for me.
I had a blast reading this, and I'll definitely reread it in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Death by Laura Thalassa, the thrilling conclusion to the Four Horsemen series, delivers an ending that will leave readers breathless. As the fourth and final horseman, Death takes center stage, bringing an unparalleled level of commitment to his task and an internal struggle that adds depth to his character.
The relationship between Death and Lazarus, the sole survivor with an extraordinary gift, is a delicious slow burn that keeps readers eagerly turning the pages. The chemistry between them is palpable, and the spiciness of their connection adds a thrilling element to the story. Thalassa skillfully portrays the enemies-to-lovers trope, showcasing Death's resistance to his undeniable feelings and the triumph when he finally succumbs to love.
One of the highlights of Death is the return of the three other horsemen, who stay true to their original stories and retain their unique personalities. Their presence adds depth and continuity to the series, creating a sense of cohesion and familiarity.
Thalassa deviates from the established structure of the previous books, providing a fresh perspective and making Death feel like a new and distinct story rather than a repetition of the previous instalments. This departure from the formula enhances the reading experience, keeping readers engaged and surprised.
As the final book in the series, Death delivers a satisfying ending that defies expectations. Thalassa masterfully builds tension, leading to a pivotal decision that leaves readers in shock. The unpredictability and unexpected twists make for a captivating finale, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
The culmination of the Four Horsemen quartet is beautifully executed in Death. The clash between Death and Lazarus, their emotional journey, and their ultimate choice regarding the fate of humanity create a poignant and thought-provoking narrative.
Laura Thalassa successfully concludes the series with a powerful and gripping tale, leaving readers with a sense of fulfillment and appreciation for the journey they've embarked upon. Death is a worthy finale to the Four Horsemen series, showcasing Thalassa's talent for crafting compelling stories within a richly imagined world.
Thank you to NetGalley and Source Bloom books for allowing me to read Death. While I enjoyed the first three Death was a masterpiece! I was gripped into its hold from the first page and devoured this book! I haven't cried from a story in a while and I cried throughout. The ending was a perfect way to wrap this up!
This is book 4/4 of the four horseman. The 4. Books are about Death, Pestilence, Famine and War. As a disclaimer I haven’t read the other 3 books in the series. I was expecting a dark gothic book about the character Death, instead I got a book that wasn’t dark and had the same sex scenes repeatedly. Lazarus is the female character that he calls Kismet as in destiny. The first half of the book is her running away and Death finding her. She seduces him, he has sex for the first time and that’s the rest of the book. I admit that I skimmed the repeated sex scenes as they became quite tedious. The parts of the book that included the other horseman were more interesting, I particularly like famine he was dry and quite amusing.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this but it wasn’t my up of tea, gave it a generous 3.
Thank you to Netgalley, Laura Thalassa, and the publisher for giving me an eARC of Death in exchange for my honest review.
As far of the end of a series goes, I really appreciated this book. In general, series usually end with a bang, and let me tell you Death is no exception. From the start this book is different. It does not follow the same structure that the first three books did, which really aided in my enjoyment. It felt like I was reading a new book rather than a different version of the same book for the fourth time.
There is something that is really lovely about getting towards the end of the book, and having the ending go down no where near like you expected it to. I kept waiting for the moment that occurred in every book where a decision needed to be made, and when it did come, let me tell you I was left in shock!
If I say much more I will without a doubt spoil this book but let me just say that this book is definitely my favorite in the series. As a whole The Four Horseman is a series that I will reread time and time again, but I have a feeling that Death will always hold that number one spot for me.
A great ending to the 4 Horsemen quartet! Death has met his match when he plays a game of cat and mouse with a woman named Lazarus, the only person he has met who is immune to dying. However, Death is committed to his task, especially since his other 3 brothers have failed, choosing paths of love instead of destruction. Lazarus eventually tears down Death’s defenses and the two must decide how to move forward.. with or without the rest of humanity.
This may sound weird, but I’ve always been a fan of Death as a character in books. I have yet to find a book where this concept doesn’t convince me. It wasn’t any different with this book. I know the main consensus seems to be that Famine is the best horseman, and even though I see his pros. Still Death is my favorite horseman.
If we’re honest here, all four books follow the same pattern, there aren’t any big surprises and I kinda had hoped we would get something new, but I’m also not really disappointed, because I liked the story.
This book made me feel so many emotions. I laughed, I cried and at the end I’m glad that I read this series. The end was bittersweet and exactly what I had hoped for.
I really didn’t like this book . I found the writing to be very clunky and formulaic. The entire book and characters didn’t feel fleshed out at all.
Thanatos is up there as one of my favorite horsemen He’s obsessive, possessive, and surprisingly sweet. This was a great end to the series!
This series is so freaking good! I think that this book is my favorite. I loved this. Totally obsessed with this series!
I just reviewed Death by Laura Thalassa. #NetGalley

I wanted to love this series because it had been on my TBR forever. Unfortunately I found it underwhelming due to the repetitiveness of the stories. Death is the fourth and final installment. It started out promising and different from the others: Lazarus (FMC) is hunting down death. But that didn't last long and it turned into a repeat of the plot from books 1-3 (girl gets kidnapped and rides with horseman, they have sex, they fall in love, guy saves humanity for her). I really with the personalities and the inner struggles were more differentiated between the horsemen and the love interests.
I appreciated that the other horsemen come back in this book, and I ended up liking them more in this book than in their own stories! I especially appreciated that we saw their growth (hello, Famine).
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for providing an eARC of this book!
This series is such a journey! I highly recommend picking all of these stories up. I have devoured this whole series and book four may be a favorite! I love the new covers that Laura is getting and cant wait to display them on my shelves!

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review
What an ENDING to this four book series!
Death has existed since the beginning of life in its smallest form. He has taken his job seriously as God has commanded. Which adds another level of commitment to his task that the earlier horsemen did not have.
The internal struggle with this character and his love interest Lazarus was *chef’s kiss*. I love the name of Lazarus as it throws in some biblical references to our character.
The slow burn between Death and Lazarus was worth the wait. I think this book was the spiciest in the series. At certain points it felt like every other page was our main characters connecting in a physical manner.
The tropes of enemies to lovers is common in each story in the series. But as Death is the final horseman, he fights the destiny of his mate so hard. When he finally caves to his feelings it feels like an even bigger triumph.
I enjoyed that the three other horseman come back in this story and stay true to their characters in their original stories.
I'm so sad I've finished this series I have absolutely adored every single book. Death is an amazing ending to this wonderful series and once again I loved every single character and especially seeing how everyone comes together in the end which was really fun to see their futures and the dynamics between the brothers. Laz was also once again an amazing female lead and I love how strong her character was yet also so empathetic. The only bad thing was that this series has ended but I cannot recommend Laura's books enough and I HIGHLY recommend.
a wonderful endof this series. I have immensely enjoyed it and am sad it is over. great strong characters in every single one of these books.
Out of all 4 books this was by far my favorite. Laz and Deaths relationship was steamy and hot, but the whole life vs death symbolism was represented well between them.
I did feel at times the book was redundant meaning each book follows on mmc and one fmc. But the chemistry in each were good.
