Poor Death. He is just really misunderstood. Then he meets Lazarus and she can't die and they seem so perfect for each other. But a world can't be perfect when you're the only ones left, so Lazarus is determined to save humanity. But Death has a duty and that's more important to him than anything else. It's just like life... complicated. This was the perfect ending to the series. We get to see all of the brothers one last time and I still can't pick which was my favorite. I really enjoyed this whole series. 5 stars from me.

Slowly but surely making my way down Laura Thalassa's backlist. I read War awhile back when it was a bookclub pick. I like her stories because they are all unique and completely different. I never know what i'm going to get!

What a way to end this series! This has to be my favourite of the horsemen. Death was not at all what I was expecting at the end of book 3; he was better! I’m glad we got to see all the horsemen again in this finale.
There were times when it felt like the story was dragging a bit around the middle of the book but the ending was so good. The love story between Laz and Death was really moving. Thalassa did a wonderful job crafting their story.
I will admit the route they move along throughout the book didn’t make a lot of sense to me. It seemed like they were just circling the central United States whereas the other horsemen journeyed in a more purposeful way.
I didn’t cry in the other books but I was getting weepy during the last quarter of this book. I’m glad she added some levity through the sibling antics of the 4 horsemen. I also have to mention how much I loved the way she normalized adoption; those relationships have just as much love as biological ones. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this perfect ending to this interesting and unique series.

Death was an excellent conclusion to the Four Horsemen series. It was my favourite of the four volumes, but, I confess, I am always drawn to stories of romance with Death/death-like figures, so that was probably a factor too. General preferences aside, though, I enjoyed the relationship between Lazarus and Death, and this finale to the series also had a slightly more philosophical bent than the previous novels in its discussion of death and the nature of humanity (and mortality). The pacing was good throughout and at the end of each chapter, I always wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next, so I finished the book (the longest in the series) in just two nights. I am giving this volume 4.5 stars, and I would rank the series as a whole at 4 stars.

I love pretty much every book Thalassa has written so far, so it wasn't a big surprise that I loved this one as well.
I liked the characters, the plot was great, and the enemies to lovers romance... loved it.
This book is definitely worth reading.

would definitely recommend reading this to finish if the series, but it didn’t go exactly in the way I had hoped. And so I ended the series with some mixed feelings. First Famine is still my favorite. I loved that we got to see all of the brothers together again, especially with the wolves and kids. I feel like in beginning, Lazarus was there most interesting. The middle of the book got a little déjà vu for me, and I can only read so much traveling, fighting, etc. this book reminded me the most of War, and I didn’t love that their relationship felt like it was out of obligation. For as long as this book is, the ending felt rushed and kind of suddenly over. In the end, I think the author had a unique take on the four horseman. And I recommend reading them all! If you are finding them a bit repetitive, read a few books in between to break it up! Also Deaths book was spicier then I felt like the others were, so just be warned of that!

I really wanted to love this series because it's been on my TBR forever and I loved these new covers, but unfortunately it's been incredibly underwhelming and they're all pretty much rinse and repeats of each other but with just a new horseman.

Death wasn’t my favorite book of the series but I did enjoy it a lot. I liked how Lazarus and Death symbolized life and death. I think they had great chemistry and connection. I enjoyed this series and have come to love this author.

I was lucky enough to be blessed with an ARC of this from NetGalley and Bloom! The review of this is of my own person thoughts and opinions

In Book 4 of The Four Horseman we are with the last brother Death also known as Thanatos. We follow Lazarus as shes trying to avenge the loss of her whole family. She starts to hunt death which is a comical thought but she is full of determination that no matter how much devastation she watches she will not stop. Death is intrigued and captivated by the human hunting him. He is dedicated to seeing this through and will not let anyone stop him. This becomes tricky when Lazarus cannot be killed even by death himself and he’s tries, multiple times. This truly the most severe enemies to lovers book I have read. They eventually let the walls down and open themselves up to each other. They are both so lonely and despondent they underestimated their need for each other. The ending theme that Death is beautiful and inescapable resonated and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will most definitely recommend the series.

My love for you is eternal and unfaltering, Lazarus. Do not doubt that. Stars will form and die, and what I feel for you will remain undimmed."
Where the HECK has Death been this whole series because he is wayyyy better than all of his brothers (no offense). Talk about ending the series with a bang! This was sooo good!
"Let me show you what it means to be mine.”
I don't even have words to describe how much I loved this. When I started it, I was a little skeptical but then I fell hook, line, and sinker into this story. Death and Lazarus are amazing characters and watching their relationship develop was the sweetest torture. Not only that, but we get to see all of the other horsemen reunite and I was living for these interactions. Also did I mention Death has wings. WINGS. I was done for right there.
Life and death are lovers, kismet. They always choose each other in the end.”
The bottom line is: if you love enemies to lovers, morally grey characters, and flaming romance you have to read this!

This series…. I never felt that I should like it as much as I did. There was just something so unexpected about it all in the beginning and I kept coming back for more. I am glad that I waited awhile before for reading the conclusion of the series because I think I would have been even more annoyed about how formulaic these books are. Instead I was more annoyed at how bloated this book felt. So many pages all saying the same thing….. What I did love was seeing the other Horsemen show up and their interactions with each other. That alone was worth the price of admission (which, granted, for me was free). It was a fun shakeup from what I have been reading. I just wish it hadn’t felt so predictable.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a good ending to this series, I'm quite satisfied with it. This book was fast-paced and had more action than the rest of the series to me. We had the last horseman, Death, who doesn't understand why his brothers have abandoned their task and is here to finally finish destroying the world. Our fmc Lazarus's main goal is to stop Death from wiping out as many people as she can, which leads to them constantly meeting, sparring, and attacking each other. Lazurus, as her name suggests, is special and cannot be killed but can be hurt. She is on a mission to seduce Death into giving up his task.
Lazurus was great, she gave her mission her all and also got sexy time out of it! Death was frustrating, but I understood him and why he was adamant about doing his job despite his love for Lazurus. I really enjoyed the romance. What not to love about a winged virgin mc who, of course, knows what he's doing despite having never done that before🫢. We got to see the other horseman, which was so much fun. I wish we got more of the women from the other books, but overall I liked how this book ended and recommend this series.
Thank you, Bloom Books, for this arc for an honest review.
Rating: 4.25

Omg. I didn’t think I could love another horseman more. I stand corrected. Death was hinted at from the others, but omgggg was he worth the wait. His story was so GOOD!!
The FMC? I adored her. The fact that she had that interesting quirk about her (idk want to spoil haha) and how Death was basically stumped by her, but still did what he does best anyway. 🤣 and how even through that all, they still fell in love. 😭 OBSESSED. I loved this book. Incredible finale. OUTSTANDING series!!! READ 👏🏻 THIS 👏🏻 SERIES 👏🏻

I really enjoyed reading this book and did not want to put it down. I have read many Laura Thalassa books and this one did not disappoint. Death is the final book in The Four Horseman Series. I have read every book in the series and have thoroughly enjoyed them all and thought that they were all 5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley, Laura Thalassa and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this rerelease.

A one-star review - and that's for writing the same plot four times in a row! Girl and angelic being hellbent on destroying human life fight over armageddon while travelling from mansion to mansion - then bone. Sounds familiar. While Pestilence, War and Famine all had their little highlights, the conclusion to the series was a bunch of recycled ideas and repetitive sex scenes, which couldn't be salvaged by the writing skills of someone who omits the "I" in inner monologues. This point, though, I take personally: not a single Horseman was topped.
One star for the best cover in the series.
P.S. Famine is my favourite LI after all, and not Death. Can you believe it?!

“if i could i would devour that laughter of yours. there is nothing sweeter.”
wow what a way to end this series. Laura thalassa you are a genius for writing this series i had such a good time reading these and i’m kinda sad that it’s over now. i was hooked through the whole book and i really enjoyed all the tension between death & lazarus.

Omg these books, this author!!!!! This world is pure gold! I devoured this book in one sitting! Thank you for the ARC.

Death was so much sweeter than I was expecting, which of course made it so hard for Laz not to fall hard for him. Their story spanned over years, and I really enjoyed their dynamic, and the push and pull of their relationship.
I was definitely misty-eyed by the time I made it to the Epilogue. This was definitely a unique series that I’m sure I’ll look back at fondly.

Death has arrived to finish what his brothers couldn’t and he will not be swayed from his mission. However, he didn’t expect to come across Lazarus, the only person that cannot die. And Lazarus is determined to ruin his plans for humanity no matter how many times she has to kill him.
A great ending to this amazing series! Lazarus is one of my favorite FMC. She didn’t give up and continued to give it her all. Since everyone she loved had been taken from her, she had nothing to lose and was determined to stop Death. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say I loved Death and Lazarus. I laughed and cried as I read it and the ending was perfect even if I could hardly read through the tears. I’m glad we got a chance to revisit some of the characters from the previous books.
Overall, I absolutely loved this series and have re-read it several times! If you love enemies to lovers, I highly recommend you pick it up. It is one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read and I enjoyed every book in the series.

Edit: I was lucky enough to receive ARCs from NetGalley for the beautiful new editions!

Is this series repetitive? Yep.
Is Death objectively the hardest to love of the four? Probably.
Did I fucking melt every time Thanatos called Lazarus "Laz"? Very much.
I don't know what to say about this that hasn't already been said by people much funnier and insightful than I am. I loved Lazarus - TELL ME HOW A GIRL WHO CAN'T DIE IS RELATABLE AF - I thought the baby subplot was totally unnecessary, and I squee'd when all four horsemen battled at the end. The ending was anti-climactic, but I wasn't reading this book for the action anyway and, come on, how the hell else could it have ended?
