Honestly, this wasn't my favorite book of this series. I think my current ranking is as follows:
- War
- Famine
- Pestilence

That said, this was absolutely worth reading and I really loved our MC, a super funny prostitute named Ana.

Also, can we just please get to effing Death already?!?! I've been waiting for this for so long!!!

The slow burn, the romance omg , dark romance indeed , like please a need a fan in this place. Loved the book , like this horsemen’s 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Famine wants to end humanity and Ana wants to save it. They are clearly on opposite sides but they are drawn to each other....

This book is bloody violent... It's dramatic and suspenseful. lots of steamy scenes too. It lives up to the hype... :) Terrific characters... they are complex and complicated... kept my interest from the beginning to the end. A great read.

I already read the previous two books and couldn't wait to get my hands on this third one. Famine by L. Thalassa is the third stand-alone in the Four Horsemen Series, re-published by Sourcebooks Bloom Books.
Ana and Famine have nothing in common, but she refuses to submit to the big destroyer. Fights against the mighty warrior that he is.
An incredible dystopian read in a series that is best read in order. The previous book is Pestilence and War, the next one is Death.
I ecommend the book and the series, 5 stars.

This book really starts off with a bang compared to the others which was really really good. I truly enjoyed the third book in this series-I still gave a 5 stars because it deserves it, but but it was not my favorite of the 3 I have read so far in this series. I'm not sure why, in truth it had all the elements that I loved about the other books but I couldn't seem to connect to our heroine as much.

Like I commented on my other reviews of this series, I love the new cover art!

This was fun and definitely what I’ve come to expect from Laura Thalassa. It’s a good series!

In Famine, Ana meets the horseman for the second time in her life when he arrives in her town. She's hoping he remembers the first time they met and she saved his life. However, after their second meeting, she ends up stabbed and left for dead. Ana doesn't give up that easily though. She hunts him down and is determined to make him pay.

I absolutely love this book! Famine is my favorite horseman and the banter between him and Ana is everything. I thought this book was darker than Pestilence and War. You could feel how much Famine hated humanity and wanted to make everyone suffer. However, Ana wasn't going to back down and I love how she continued to stand up to him. Even though Ana was falling for him, you could see how conflicted she was with what he was doing.

This book will make you fall in love with the horseman even though you know what he's doing is terrible. I loved watching him and Ana slowly fall for each other and begin to notice the little changes in him. The world building, of course, was great and Famine really sets everything up for Death.

I highly recommend Famine! It's my favorite book by Laura Thalassa and definitely one of my most re-read!

This book is proof that Laura Thalassa can write the most terrible characters and make you fall for them anyways.

Famine and Ana just KILLED ME DEAD! I love love loved this book and this world and UGH JUST EVERYTHING! If you haven’t read The Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa, then you better set aside some time and get to it.

This was my favorite book of 2020 and deservedly so. I can’t wait to get this version on my bookshelf.

I definitely enjoyed this book more than I did the second book in this series. I enjoyed both Ana and Famine characters. The back-and-forth banter between Ana and Famine was hilarious. They had me laughing a lot at their antics and witty comebacks. I think I loved this story even more because there was history between these two characters, so it wasn't a love or lust at first sight. This was a friendship, hate to love type of story. I enjoyed the surprises within this story, the steamy scenes and the story overall. I think this story ends with a major cliffhanger compared to the previous books. It does, however, leave you wondering how things will play out with the brothers because Death didn't give Famine or Ana much of a choice. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the last book in this series, not only to see if all of the brothers come face to face, but to see if there will be a human character that will brings Death to his knees and instead of death, she brings life.

Famine was the hardest book for me to read. It is so gritty, graphic, and downright gross. Famine is a beast of a Horseman and he has come to do some serious damage. But tried and true to the series Ana shows him that not all humans are bad, but he's happy to eviscerate those that aren't.

Famine is book three of the Four Horsemen series and it is by far my favourite of the bunch.

Ana da Silva, orphaned at a young age, has spent most of the past 5 years as a prostitute in a brothel. She crossed paths with Famine, third Horseman of the Apocalypse, and saved him out of compassion and he, in turn, destroyed her village. When they meet again he does not recognize her and she almost meets her maker at the hands of his shabby goons. However, Ana is resilient and out for his blood, and she intends to make him pay.

Of all four horsemen, Famine is my favourite. I describe him as a lovable jackass. (I even said as much to Laura Thalassa herself and she laughed and agreed.) He’s sarcastic, bloodthirsty and imperious. However, he also has the capacity to be curious, decent and well intentioned. Famine, for all that he is a horseman, is also a victim of the cruelty of humankind. So it’s little wonder why he hates humans. Ana is a freaking delight. She’s got spunk, drive and a snarky mouth on her. She knows enough about herself and her worth that she doesn’t take any shit from anyone, even Famine. She is quick thinking and, while sometimes she doesn’t make the right choice, she also has such a huge capacity for love.

The plot in this seems to be a bit more bloodthirsty than the previous books (which seems crazy considering WAR was the last one!). Famine has a bone to pick with humanity and, unlike War and Pestilence, it’s intensely personal to him. He is fulfilling his purpose but also getting vengeance for what was done to him. It makes his story a bit more interesting, seeing as it’s not just some ~purpose~ that is driving him to do this.

This book also does a great job of setting up the finale book of the series. The twists and turns literally keep going right up to the last page. And it is the perfect cliffhanger that makes you want more.

As with the rest of this series, I HIGHLY recommend it! Famine, weirdly, is my comfort reread so I recommend it to basically everyone.

I'm going to go ahead and review the series as a whole, because there are common themes that run throughout that are uniquely explicated in each book.

Where do I even start? First, that I totally understand the hype about this series now. It’s one of those series that grabs you by the throat and takes you along for one hell (pun intended) of a ride.

Each FMC brings different elements of humanity to the fore that speak to their angelic counterparts in profound ways. And the ways in which author Laura Thalassa explores idea about God, humanity, frailty, good, and evil are so intriguing. Though these were written starting in the “before” times, Thalassa’s work seems all the more prescient today.

If you want your mind and heart challenged, if you want to experience the beauties of love and human nature (and their ugliness, too), then please, please read this series. It is masterful.

The Four Horsemen series is so amazing. Famine is one of the most vindictive characters in this series. While the other horsemen seem to want to carry out their duty, Famine wants mankind to suffer for their brutality. Ana works tirelessly and selflessly to change Famine's mind, despite his continuous mistreatment of her. And when Famine finally comes to see the error of his ways, its too late for Ana. Just wow, such a great series. And Famine was really one of those characters that you love to hate, but the way Ana transforms him is absolutely beautiful! Must read series!
