After reading this book, the third in the series, there is a definetly a formula the author is following, but I like it regardless. I really like the female main character in this book because she's not your typical character. The author also makes you sympathize with Famine, which you end up feeling guilty about. This series is fun and different; I've already started the finale book.

Thank you for the eArc.

This book was a bit of a disappointment for me. I enjoyed the previous 2 books and was excited to continue but I didn’t have the same experience with this one.

Oddly I found the writing/dialogue to be worse in this one. It might be that the style stuck out more due to the way the plot moved/ the characters personalities, but I noticed it more in this one and it felt overdone.

I also just didn’t see the same chemistry between the characters that was present in the last 2, making it much harder to root for them to get together in spite of the horseman’s actions.

Mostly, I just found myself to be a bit bored while reading this and that was the last thing I was expecting.

However, I did really enjoy the ending of this, including the set-up for Death, and am excited to read the last book.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Note: I accidentally started Death (book 4) and decided to finish it; before I read this book. I definitely recommend reading them in order.

So Famine was those most brutal of the horsemen in my opinion. He was also the horseman I felt the worst for and understood his brutality. Watching him fall for Ana was so sweet.

Ana was my absolute favorite heroine. She is so strong. I love her ability to overcome the horrible things that she has had to endure. She's also funny. When she references "BJs for Humanity" I'm not sure I've ever laughed so hard. That move she made at the end of the book was so bad ass!

Together they were incredible. Their story felt the most genuine to me. They really grew and got to know each other. They also were super sexy and spicy.

I'm really sad that I am done with this series now. I really really enjoyed it. Generally after the first or second book in a series, it tend to start losing me. This one had me with all 4 books.

I absolutely recommend this series to any paranormal romance lovers!

No OW/OM Drama. No Cheating.

My feelings for the third installment in the Four Horsemen series are a little mixed.

I LOVED the beginning as it felt fresh and different from the previous two books and just what I wanted. Then the middle became a bit too repetitive again, too much like the previous two books. But then the last 30% or so was once again amazing and my favorite ending of all the books. It was an exciting page-turner and the cliffhanger at the end only made me want to read the fourth and final book even more.

I also loved the main characters the most from all books I’ve read so far. Ana felt completely different from Sara or Miriam – she’s still fierce and brave but she’s also had a tough life so far and has been working as a prostitute to survive. She’s very sexual and uses sex as a barrier to protect her heart. But pairing her feistiness and crude jokes with the most asshole-ish of the four horsemen was a brilliant combination. I loved how Famine was such an unlikeable character but then he had this soft spot for Ana from day one and I loved getting glimpses of that. Ana and Famine shone together – their relationship development was the best of the series and their banter was amazing.

So while my feelings were mixed, overall I do think this is my favorite of the series.

This book exceeded my expectations. The beginning of this book held no interest for me, I disliked both Famine and Ana. Famine wasn’t endearing at all and I felt he had no redeeming qualities. Ana was over sexualized (and yes she is a prostitute but I felt the author was trying to hard to remind us) and honestly stupid. Her decision to go after Famine and get “revenge” made no sense at all given that she knew first hand he could not die. However, about the middle of the book both characters soften and get smarter respectively. The relationship between Famine and Ana gets better development and I was fully onboard. Their sexual scenes were soft and sweet and the ending completely entranced me. I cannot wait for Death’s book.

I couldn't be more thrilled to give Famine a solid five stars! Laura Thalassa has once again outdone herself with this dark and captivating tale. Ana, the fearless female protagonist, stole my heart with her wit, strength, and charm - a true testament to Thalassa's talent for crafting lovable characters.

The book's darker themes add a unique edge, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse vibes give it a thrilling and mysterious atmosphere. But let's not forget the spice! Thalassa's ability to infuse the story with passion and intensity makes it an unforgettable experience.

Reading Famine was an absolute blast! I found myself fully immersed in the world Thalassa created, eagerly turning pages to uncover the secrets and surprises that lay ahead. This book perfectly balances darkness and excitement, keeping readers hooked until the very end.

If you're a fan of Laura Thalassa's work, this is a must-read. And if you're new to her writing, the Four Horsemen series is an excellent series to delve into. Prepare for an enthralling journey with Ana and the Four Horsemen, a journey you won't want to end! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

i liked this book. Famine and Ana were fun to read about. Famine was a typical 'hero - he wasn't but let's just say that for now- who pretends to not have a heart but secretly cares a lot for the girl.

This book had more gore and blood than the second book, but I did like that in this.

Even though I liked the book, the characters were less sticking in my head than the couple from the second book. I did like this ending more than in book two.

Definitie going to read the last book after this ending.

Famine was brutal - not at all what I expected but I should have known because each Horseman awaken has been worse than the last. Ana’s sassiness really gets under his skin and I laughed so much at seeing this tough man squirm! This story was intense - it stunned me a little to see how we would act during a famine and it’s truly eye opening. I love how the author ties in such important issues into such a beautiful, dark romance that you come out of this satisfied with the HEA but also more humble and reflective of life.

Standing ovation for this book.
Laura is able to make us love flawed characters, and make us realize maybe they aren't the flawed ones, we are.

This is the 3rd book of the Four Horsemen series.
Similar to the other books, this book was a fantastic read. I couldn't put the book down. Famine is the most ruthless anti-hero out of 3 horsemen so far. The heroine Ana, is strong and can hold her own against Famine. I loved the banter and the development of their spicy romance. The ending was epic. I highly recommend this book and series. I can't wait for the next book

Not our vicious Famine being a secret squish for his flower Ana. Got me right in the heart. Made me want to forgive the actual horrors of the first half of the book.

I loved Ana’s resilience, sass, and acceptance of herself and Famine. She truly was his perfect compliment. The romance felt meaningful and natural - they really did overcome many obstacles, both intrapersonal and interpersonal, to be together.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy series. Laura does a beautiful job of making these Horsemen merciless, unloveable, untouchable at first and then slowly using these unique, strong, persevering human women to bring them to their knees. The Horsemen’s transformation from unearthly beings to men that are a little more in touch with humanity keeps me coming back for more. I loved War, but Famine may have just snuck into the top slot in my heart!

I will absolutely be reading the final book in the series: Death. Can’t wait.

Thank you so much for NetGalley and Bloom Books for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.

Famine is book four in The Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa. I have been going back and forth with this one. I feel like Famine is my favorite out of the horsemen so far and Ana was probably my favorite of the female main characters but other than that the story was repetitive. And that’s something I’ve been struggling with throughout the series, unfortunately.

This book reminded me a whole lot of the first book, Pestilence. I don’t know if it’s just me but it felt like the same storyline only with different characters and slightly different occurances. It was pretty much just Famine and Ana going to different cities where Famine killed humans and where they both kept saving each other’s butts. It’s really too bad because the author could’ve used this book to do something a little different but eventually it started getting monotonous.

However, I did enjoy reading the slowburn romance between Ana and Famine. That was the only thing that felt a little different from the other books. I feel like they actually fell in love with each other and not rushed like I felt in the first book between Sara and Pestilence. This, at least, was a nice change of pace.

The next book is the final one and even though I didn’t quite love the third one that much I’m still looking forward to Death’s book. I’ve already read the premise of that one and it does sound a little promising so I hope I’ll enjoy it a little more than this one.

If you liked Pestilence, then fell for War, you are going to fall for this 3rd book about Famine. Enjoyed the FMC, loved her feisty personality, her banter with Famine. Slow burn in this now was excellent. The ending was a complete surprise, I can't wait to dive right into the 4th book, Death.

This one has been my favorite so far, mostly because of the banter. It's just so ✨️funny✨️. Over the course of the story Famine begins to find her teasing endearing instead of annoying. I personally think he liked it the entire time and just wouldn't admit it.
Although death, especially needless death, horrified Ana she never asked him to change. She knew who he was and fell in love with him anyway.
I really didn't expect the ending either which was a nice change of pace.
The few complaints I have about this book are the same ones I've had about the rest of the series, it's a bit repetitive and lengthy. The rest of the book makes up for it.

✨️ forced proximity
✨️ slow burn
✨️ touch her and pass

Thank you Netgalley for this e-ARC.

I loved Ana and Famine's banter. Both such sassy characters full of attitude which made for a fun read.

I'm not sure which book I like the best so far, but I definitely really enjoyed the dynamic in this.

Witty. Real. In a series like the Four Horsemen, you almost expect the characters to be like the others when you reach the third book. Not so. Famine and Ana are dynamic. Famine has trauma and so does Ana and they are able to meet in this pain. The way they each deal with the pain helps the other one. It's so powerful to read and be a part of their story. I enjoyed how this book took the reader to a post apocalyptic South America. This served as an amazing backdrop to the story. The new discreet cover is beautiful and goes so well with Famine's character.

Take a shot every time you read the words "sex worker" aaaaand you're drunk. Oops. But seriously, wow. I know I've complained about how this series is repetitive (and this is no exception) but the sheer amount of times I saw those words, or we had to suffer through another reflection of Ana's time being a sex worker, or reminiscing about clients, or events, all around her time as a sex worker, I just.. snooze. Normally I have nothing against characters with this profession but this was just too much.

And I think in general just the entire story, and the characters, annoyed me. We did get a bit of a break on formula with this one, which was nice, but also Famine was like.. a damsel in distress on just one too many occasion. I don't understand how he was constantly in the situations he was in, and sure it was nice to see the lady love rescue the big strong angel demon guy (which is another trend for this series), but like.. come on.

Also, Famine was referred to as The Reaper and also had a scythe. Isn't that supposed to be Death's shtick or has that been conflated? I guess we'll find out what fun nicknames and weapons the latter has in the next book but I found this kind of confusing.

As mentioned (but I'm repeating it for irony's sake) this was repetitive. Ride horses, find a town, take over a house, kill everyone around, grow some plants, Ana fights back and or runs away, Famine chases, ride the horse, find a town.. you get it.

This one just didn't work for me, much like book one didn't -- but in a few different ways. But with only one left to go, I'm hoping we end on.. if not a high note at least a more interesting one. I am sorta expecting a twist based on how Death has interacted with his brothers up until this point but.. I guess we'll see.

Famine by Laura Thalassa is the third installment in the four horseman series. I am happy to say that this just as good as the previous two! It was also different which I appreciated because these books all have many similarities. Famine and Ana's romance was the most emotional which I think lended well to the story because Famine is the horseman who is the least in touch with humanity. I loved to see Ana constantly challenging him and always being selfless. Famine was also very grumpy which I loved. The only thing that put me off of this book was some of Ana's decisions at the beginning of the book. She decides to get revenge and kill the horseman even though she knows he cannot be killed. This just made no sense to me. She also warms up to him only for him to kill and disappoint her again. This happens over and over and it got frustrating. However once we got past that in the beginning, I had no problems. The ending to this book was also very exciting because it makes an important set up for Death's book which I am most excited about. I see a horseman reunion coming and I cannot wait!
