Betting on You by Lynn Painter is cute and fun, but it didn’t fully hit the mark for me. The banter between the characters was solid, and the fake-dating trope had its moments, but the romance felt rushed, and some of the conflicts were a bit predictable. It’s a light, easy read with plenty of swoon-worthy moments, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Decent, but not a fave.

Painter has a way of crafting characters that truly come off the page. I enjoyed getting to know her newest creation and go on their journey with them.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the early access to this book! Lynn Painter can do no wrong, and this book is another wonderful addition to her backlog of other wonderful YA titles. I can never keep her books on the shelves in the library that I work in- her name and reputation sells itself.

This was fun but not nearly as good as Better Than The Movies. I am a swiftie but the Taylor Swift references were TOO much. It was at least one every chapter. The characters were insufferable and extremely immature. I couldn’t believe that they didn’t want their parents to be happy. The writing in this book felt extremely different and forced than Lynn Painter’s other works with way too many pop culture references and really cringey writing.

Really adored this YA novel by Lynn painter. She can do no wrong, her stories always deliver character growth, swoon worthy moments and tug on my heart a little.

This was perfectly fine, but definitely not Painter's best. I'm mostly infuriated that we couldn't come up with a better nickname for the FMC than "Glasses."

I didn’t start reading Lynn Painter till last year, but after reading The Do-Over I became obsessed with her. I read all of her other RomComs and fell in love with her writing.

I couldn’t believe I got an early copy of Betting on You. I seriously freaked. It took me awhile to read, not because I didn’t love it, but because me and the hubs have been binging Gilmore Girls at night.

I couldn’t get enough of Bay and Charlie, like seriously. I need more of them Ms. Painter!

This book had me swooning and cheesing way too much. It was exactly what I needed.

I will read anything Lynn Painter writes. So I need something asap!!!!

I gave this wonderful book ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Lynn Painter's latest romcom is an absolute joyride from start to finish. With a knack for captivating storytelling, Painter effortlessly reels readers in with humor, sarcasm, and a sprinkling of bets. The initial encounter between Charlie and Bailey sets the stage for a charming tale filled with swoon-worthy moments and delightful banter. Charlie's wit and Bailey's authenticity make for a dynamic duo, while Painter skillfully integrates important themes like the impact of divorce. This book is a refreshing breeze on a summer day—light, breezy, and thoroughly enjoyable. A perfect blend of humor, romance, and heartfelt messages, it's a must-read that will leave you smiling long after the final page.

I absolutely adore everything Lynn Painter writes and this was no exception. The way she rights relatable YA Romance makes me wish I had these kind of romances when I was a teen.

Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes because it forces the characters to get to know each other better whether they want to or not.

The plane scene was so funny to me because I could relate to the annoyance of both characters and often thought about how I would’ve handled the interaction from both points of view.

I was so excited to get this ARC. Lynn Painter and this story can do no wrong! I love the worlds she creates and I always love a little crossover moment.

I love anything Lynn Painter writes and this is no exception. The story is not as spicy as her adult romances since the target audience is teens, and that's perfect for me because sometimes all of the open-door description can be overwhelming to read. The trope of enemies/coworkers to lovers is delicious, and there are friends and parents to round out both leads as well as build the plot of the book. I found myself interested in the whole cast of characters, which I can't say happens for me in every book. Specifically, the dual POV helped me understand Bailey and Charlie's emotional growth. I really appreciate the happy ending and can visualize the TV adaptation with crystal clarity. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys romance!

Everything Lynn Painter writes is gold- charismatic characters and witty banter., and all of the swoon one could ask for. Bailey and Charlie’s relationship has a difficult beginning, and I enjoyed their dynamic. As an Omaha resident, I love the connections Painter develops to the city. Many of my students read the book, and we attended a book signing together. Having a local artist that they admire is so powerful and encourages their love of reading. Thanks for the advanced copy!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC Betting on You by Lynn Painter.

I was excited to try out this Young Adult book by Lynn Painter. I loved her book Better Than the Movies.

Unfortunately, this book drove me crazy, and I got really annoyed with Charlie. Don't get me wrong there are things that I liked about Charlie...like the way he saw Bailey for who she really is, how he remembered all the things and how she liked them even though she was very picky. I didn't like the way he insisted that girls and boys couldn't be friends even though he talked to his ex all of the time. You start to realize that he keeps Bailey at arms length due to his parents split and is afraid to losing someone he loves or gets attached too. There is quite a bit of language in this book.

When seventeen-year-old Bailey starts a new job at a hotel waterpark, she is less than thrilled to see an old acquaintance is one of her coworkers. Bailey met Charlie a year ago on the long flight to Omaha, where she moved after her parents’ divorce. Charlie’s cynicism didn’t mix well with Bailey’s carefully well-behaved temperament, and his endless commentary was the irritating cherry on top of an already emotionally fraught trip.

Now, Bailey and Charlie are still polar opposites, but instead of everything about him rubbing Bailey the wrong way, she starts to look forward to hanging out and gossiping about the waterpark guests and their coworkers—particularly two who keep flirting with each other. Bailey and Charlie make a bet on whether or not the cozy pair will actually get together. Charlie insists that members of the opposite sex can’t just be friends, and Bailey is determined to prove him wrong.

Bailey and Charlie keep close track of the romantic progress of others while Charlie works to deflect the growing feelings he’s developed for Bailey. Terrified to lose her if his crush becomes known, what doesn’t help his agenda is Bailey and Charlie “fake dating” in order to disrupt the annoying pleasantries between Bailey’s mom and her mom’s new boyfriend. Soon, what Charlie was hoping to avoid becomes a reality as Bailey starts to see him as not only a friend she can rely on in the midst of family drama—but someone who makes her hands shake and heart race. But Charlie has a secret—a secret that involves Bailey and another bet Charlie may have made. Can the two make a real go of things…or has Charlie’s secret doomed them before they could start?

Loved this one!

This was a book that was stuffed full of feelings. These characters are going through a lot. It makes me remember how difficult this age can be especially with huge changes happening. I really loved Charlie’s character growth throughout the book and felt like Bailey was a messy and complicated character and I loved her.
