This was my first Lynn Painter book but it will definitely not be my last! I really enjoyed this book. It was just so cute!
Loved it! Lynn Painted can do absolutely no wrong. This novel is the perfect blend of humour, romance, and swoon. I definitely recommend it to everyone, as well as all of Lynn's other books.
I really enjoyed this book. It is an expected teen romance but one that I could not put down! This book is cute and is about two young teens that are family friends and are trying not to fall in love...
Lynn Painter if an automatic buy author for me and this solidified that. She has such amazing writing and character development. If you haven't picked it up by now do it!
Unfortunately I did not love this book. It was ok! Third act break ups are just not it for me. It was cute, however overall I just didn't connect with the characters.
Thank you Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for and EARC of this book in exchange for my honest review
Such a super cute book. It was so fun and I loved the Taylor Swift references. Honestly just the fun book I needed to read.
This is a good book that will have you hooked from the meet cute. It’s cute, it’s sweet, the characters are likeable, the scenarios are relatable and if you’re a teen navigating complicated friendships or a family break up you’ll probably love this book. That said it is imo at least 100 pages too long and lacking in any real substance. It’s pure fluff and if that’s your thing or what you need to read right now, this YA book is certainly for you.
This was super cute and a fun read!
My first time reading this author and I was pleasantly surprised, I will have to check out more of their work!!
I fear a 5 star solely due to the way I relate to the main character (,,,, unfortunately). There are some minor, tiny to the plot things I don't like but spoilers and it's personal bias because of how much I relate to this one.
Lynn Painter putting out ANOTHER banger. I genuinely don't think I've rated one of her books less than 5 stars.
The way that real-world things are placed in this book, or even all Lynn's books, is done so well. Like mentioning songs, books, apps, and trends. I can't explain how Lynn does it so seemlessly, and other authors it sometimes feel clunky and take you out of the book.
Thank you SO MUCH NetGalley and the publishers at Simon and Schuster for the advanced readers copy of this book.
lynn painter can do no wrong!!! another amazing ya romance book that is amazing for any hopeless romantic. charlie and bailey’s banter was so good and also their chemistry. had me smiling n giggling at 2am
Lynn Painter is definitely a favourite auto-buy author, whether it's her YA or romance books. Her YA as usually total hits for me, and while I did really enjoy this book, I found it a bit similar to the last YA of hers I read.
Regardless, I loved the characters and the story. It didn't feel too cheesy or cringe, which I usually feel with YA books, but had real emotions and issues that would arise in real life without being too dramatic. I loved the dynamic between the two and their families - as a child of divorce, I really loved seeing it represented and the emotions the two along with it.
What a cute story! And Charlie? THE sweetest. This book was YA (young adult) perfection. I read the first 30% but listened to the rest on audio. The narrators were top-notch. I couldn’t stop listening - it was like watching a really good tv show. I definitely connected with the characters being a child of divorce myself. I even teared up near the end (which is unlike me!!).
I’ll definitely be reading the rest of Lynn Painters books!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this Advanced Reader Copy. All opinions are my own.
Cute, cute story! I really enjoyed it, but personally I found the profanity to be way to prominent in this one and just unnecessary.
Lynn Painter's writing is flawless and I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by her! This book is a delightful, light-hearted page-turner. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read, but even as a hardcore Swiftie I found there to be too many references compared to Lynn’s previous books.
REVIEW✨
Betting on You
By Lynn Painter
I loved this novel so much!! I’ve been reading less young adult novels lately, because I’ve finding them a little boring and just not for me! But this was amazing. I love how Lynn Painter writes, she does an amazing job at building characters, and writing the complexity of them. I loved Bailey and Charlie so much, both children of divorce and other complex issues that they have. I loved how refreshing the plot was, the chemistry was so palpable and electric, there was no slow moments, I loved the dual POV, and all the New Girl references and of course Taylor Swift is referenced a ton. It’s an enemies to friends to lovers, which is my favourite trope and it was wonderfully done.
I do think that so many bookstagramers will see themselves in Bailey’s character as she is also a book reviewer on instagram. I just love Charlie and Bailey so much! And I do truly believe that Lynn Painter is the Queen of writing romance young adult novels!
When Bailey starts a new job at a hotel water park, the last person she would want to see is an old acquaintance as her coworker. Bailey met Charlie over a year ago on a flight, when she was leaving her dad and her childhood home to move in with her mom after her parents divorce. Their first encounter didn’t go well, as their polar opposites and emotions were high. After spending time together their feels towards each other change, playful bets are placed, nicknames for each other, fake dating, soon they become friends. But Charlie has some secrets that Bailey can’t find out about! But feels can get complicated when you’re spending so much time with someone.
Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spice level: 🌶
Plot points: 💥💥💥💥
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a fan of Lynn Painter’s books and this one did not disappoint. It was a cute and fun YA book. I enjoyed the fun banter between the main characters.
I loved Better than the Movies and The Do-Over so I couldn’t wait to read Betting on You. Betting on You was enjoyable but Better than the Movies is still my #1.
One year ago Bailey and Charlie sat next to each other on a airplane flight and could not stand each other…so of course now, one year later they end up working together at the same amusement park. As co-workers they slowly become friends - bonding over their parent’s divorces/new parters and making bets on other people’s romantic lives.
Lynn Painter writes such fun, light and super witty books - this book had so many laugh out loud and cringy moments which are totally my jam. I loved the chemistry between Bailey and Charlie. And the text messages!! - I find books extra fun when they include texting/emailing. If you love YA or are a teen I’m sure you’ll enjoy this read.

like many of lynn painter's other novels, i enjoyed this one.
it is such a fun and playful young adult romance. i like the main characters, bailey and charlie; i especially enjoyed their dynamic; it was so fun to witness their interaction and banters.
i do feel as though this book did not really have a plot; it was more of a "just follow the characters' lives as they interact and build a relationship," which was not bad, just nothing too concrete about it and lacked a bit of backbone. i also found the third-act breakup very unnecessary, and it made me dislike the characters a bit. still, i loved bailey and charlie's bets and conversations and the way they always challenged and pushed each other.
This was my first Lynn Painter book and it will not be my last.
She is so good at developing characters and building tension.
I can't remember the last book I read that gave me such good vibes. Almost to the point of being giddy when I read it!
Thank you very much for this ARC!
This was sadly my first miss from Painter. I’m usually a huge fan of her books but this one was just missing the spark she’s known for.
I feel like it was perhaps drawn out a bit too much. Maybe if it had been 350-375 pages long it would have felt like a tighter story.
I’ll still read her future releases but this one did let me down.
