DNFed about half way in.
I first saw the cover and description and thought that this would be a cute love story.
Sadly, I couldn’t really connect with the characters and many elements of the story felt unrealistic.
3/5 Stars
Mitchell rescues Hope Roman from her flipped car on the side of a mountain and from that moment, he knows that he is going to be forever obsessed with her. When there is only one room left at the inn, Mitchell and Hope share the room and their attraction builds, but will they be able to keep their hands off each other?
This forced proximity story was pretty cute. I felt like there wasn't much depth to the characters and in some parts, Mitchell seemed just so obsessed with Hope. I think that would freak any girl out for how quick the timeline was. There were some spicy scenes and lots of chemistry between the two. I felt like the ending was rushed and the beginning was drug out too much.
DNF @ 27% As much as I really wanted to like this book. I just couldn't get into it. Everything felt fast and slow at the same time. These characters so far have no chemistry and I have idea where this is leading to and nothing really is exciting enough to make me want to find out.
I was here for the tropes (forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine), but found that I didn't really connect with the characters--although I really did like Hope. Overall it was cute though!
Having read book 2 in this series, I was excited to read Mitchell’s story next!
Hope gets in a car crash in a snow storm and Mitchell rescues her. From there, they are stuck at a B&B for several days until the storm can run its course. They get to know each other while there, along with a cast of other characters. Once back in the real world, we get to reconnect with characters from the previous two books.
I liked 95% of this book. There was just one scene I didn’t like and, I KNOW, things can be said in the heat of the moment, but I’m not sure if I could have moved past it IRL.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for No Cooldown for Love to come out June 26, 2023.
I love reading this series - every member is a breath of fresh air, but we are getting into Mitichelle's love story in this story.
Micthell wants what his best friends have found. However, he's been burned and still feels the effects of following where his mother has guided him.
Hope has no friends and family - the one person who she believed in her has passed - on her way back from the funeral, she runs off the road during a bad storm.
This is how Mitchelle and Hope end up at a bed and breakfast, sharing the same bed.
Although I loved both characters and was invested in their love story, the time at the bed and breakfast was too long, and the ending confrontation was slightly too manufactured.
I did appreciate that Hope took a while to forgive - I love the truth in this action because that is true to real people and the development of Michelle to fall in love and trust.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC! This book started out with some EXCELLENT tension between the main characters, and I was really here for it! I think these two had a lot of chemistry, and that kept me interested throughout. There was a link to the content warnings at the start of the book, but the page never loaded for me, and when I did eventually look it up on my phone, it said there were no content warnings for this book. That disappointed me because I would have really appreciated a heads-up about the overt fatphobia/fat shaming and racism.
<spoiler> I felt like the 3rd act conflict didn't really work. It felt a little impossible that Mitchell would have no idea what Hope did for work. And I also hated seeing a physical display of anger (breaking her phone) being his response. Also, not a fan of pregnancy-related tropes, so that whole ending wasn't my favorite. </spoiler>
Despite my issues with the 3rd act, I really enjoyed the way this book started, the characters, and the chemistry. 3/5 stars.
Amazing, fun, steamy read, finished in less than a day!
Mitchell and Hope meet in a snowstorm after Hope's car gets flipped, and end up staying until the roads are safer to drive on at a B&B that only has one room (you know there was only one bed ;))
I was concerned about it being a bit insta-lovey at the start, but it wasn't that bad, great development. The jealousy scenes were absolute perfection.
I also loved that Hope didn't take Mitchell back immediately, made the man grovel a bit, love to see it. Hope's character overall was badass, (multiple doctorates? queen shit) and she took no shit, absolute genius woman in STEM. L-O-V-E-D it!
My main complaint was some of the terminology, e.g., my woman, Lic's woman, your woman was a bit overused, wasn't the biggest fan.
But overall had an amazing time, def recommend!
Thank you so much to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the free copy provided in exchange for an honest review!
No one has three doctorates. No one. I’m all for suspension of disbelief in novels, but when it’s something as stupid as that…
The book was ok, but I never really connected to the main characters. Mitchell’s comments to Hope when his mom came to the house were out of left field and didn’t fit the way the author had written him prior. There didn’t seem to be an actual spark between the characters. I will not read another book by this author.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really struggled to connect with the characters in this book. I think it was because it was written in third person which I am not a big fan of. I felt like I didn't know much about the characters and wasn't connecting with them even at the end of the book. However, I did really love the representation in this book! I also loved the one bed, grumpy sunshine trope!
I was super excited to read this ARC and I still think it was a good read but I just couldn't get over the third person, I just don't think this was for me :(
Such a great read! This is how I personally like my slow burn romance; filled with tension, and little hints at the spice, but with plenty of space before the actual summit!
I enjoyed the fact that we got such an accomplished FMC, although I would have loved seeing more in to the world of her work (tell us more about that sea grass!!).
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this before it comes out, I’ll definitely be checking out more from this author!
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with this ARC.
Mitchell and Hope meet while Mitchell is rescuing Hope out of her overturned car after crashing in a snowstorm. Together they find shelter in an inn where they have to stay for quite some time. There is a mixer happening at the time they are there so we get to know quite a few side characters.
The setting was cozy, made even better by the infamous one bed trope (at an inn!!!). Perfection. 😍
The MMC radiates pure golden retriever energy and is quite gifted in bedroom related activities 😌
I also really liked the FMC and her ability to advocate for herself as a Black Woman who is confronted with white centered beauty standards.
Unfortunately, I’ve found this book overall lacking for giving the reader the opportunity to connect more with the MCs. I finished the book with the impression of not really knowing Mitchell and Hope or anything of their backstory except that Hope’s mentor died and that she grew up in the foster care system, and Mitchell got a divorce. I personally struggle to connect with characters who are written in third person compared to a dual POV in first person, but that is a very subjective point of criticism.
Overall, I gave this book three stars because it was cute and the MCs were very likeable. The substraction of two stars is due to the criticism mentioned above.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cool Down For Love was a great concept, it had a lot of the tropes I normally love in a romance - one bed, forced proximity, a celebrity romance! I liked that the story went beyond them just being trapped at the Hotel during the singles mixer and we got to see more of Mitchell’s friends and home life back in town. I also really liked the friendship between him and his friends, it was nice to see them tell him straight up when he was being dumb.
I also loved the plus size and diversity representation in this book, I’m always happy to read a romance with a confident plus size lead!
Though I liked the concept of this book, I did have a hard time getting through it. I fell like I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it had of been told in first person/ dual POV. I found the third person kind of clunky and took me out of the story every few pages. I also didn’t love how often the female characters were described as the male characters ‘woman’, it just felt kind of icky to me.
Overall I enjoyed the plot of this book, but I don’t think the writing style was for me.
Thanks to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and the author Aliyah Burke for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mitchell, a ex NBA player, is driving along a snowy road when he comes across and crash. Pulling over to help, he finds Hope inside and Magyars to safe her before the car plumbers down a mountain. Drained, tired and in shock, they manage to find a B&B before the snow storm comes through. Unfortunately there’s only one room.
This book good read that represents the chemistry of the characters and promotes plus size positivity! Can not recommend enough!

What an amazing love story. I loved loved loved the plus size representation, and the strong, independent female mc was just perfect. I love the one bed and grunpyxsunshine tropes, but together? *chef kiss* The characters were all so loveable, and the banter was top-notch.
A big thank you to Netgalley and Entangled publishing for giving me the chance to read and review this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Book Name: No Cooldown For Love
Series: Rock Falls #3
Author: Aliyah Burke
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
As ex-NBA star, Mitchell, is driving along the snowy backroads he comes across a crash and hops out to help. Turns out that inside is Hope and he manages to help her get out before her car goes sliding off the side of a mountain. They come across a B&B to bunker down out of the snow storm that’s coming through but there’s one catch, only one room!! **gasp**
This book had all the tropes, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, one bed, sport star, billionaire… probably more… I mean, they’re popular for a reason…
I really enjoyed their chemistry and the kinda grumpy possessiveness he had for her, pretty much from the start. I love a plus size FMC and Hope was hot, confident and super smart to boot. I clapped along (in my mind) as she schooled him on his previous preferences in women and society’s (blatant) disregard and disinterest to people who don’t look a certain way.
Getting stuck in a snow storm seems pretty bad all on its own, but also being stuck in a b&b that’s also hosting a singles mixer is my worst nightmare.
Now that I see it is book three in the series, and I’ve gotten to know the other two guys from the earlier books, I will definitely be looking them up.
Omg his mum is a racist POS and I wanted to punch her.

I thought this was a sweet book. I really liked the dialogue between the main characters, Mitchell and Hope. A good read!
No Cooldown for Love is an only one bed/one room at the end, insta-love-ish book. It is about Mitchell and Hope. Mitchell sees a car at the edge of a cliff in a snowstorm and rescues the woman inside. He is instantly attracted to her . Hope is dealing with the loss of her mentor and getting stuck upside down in a car, during a snowstorm was not in the plans. Now she's snowbound with the hottest guy she has ever seen, and there is only one room and bed that they must share. As each of their walls start to come down they begin to wonder if they can be in each other's worlds.
This was a good book, and the characters were interesting. I liked Hope as a strong, confident woman and thought Mitchell was a kind, caring guy (just keep his mother away from me!). I just struggled with a lot of telling, rather than showing. I hate when a book tells me about things that happen, rather than experiencing the events.
When we got character interactions, the banter between the two was top-notch and an enjoyable ride. I also really like the friendship between Mitchell and his two friends Tully and Linc. I like a good, positive, male relationship.
Overall, this was a quick, easy, entertaining read. I look forward to checking out Aliyah Burke's books in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
No Cooldown For Love is about ex-professional basketball player Mitchell who during a snowstorm saves a woman from an nasty car accident. With nowhere to go because of the weather Mitchell and Hope end up at a lodge and of course there is only one room left with only one bed, one of my favourite book tropes. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. I finished it in one day and thought that it was definitely a 5/5 star read. This is the first book I’ve read by Aliyah Burke and I am looking forward to reading her other books and series. This book is released June 26,2023. Thank you to Netgalley, Entangled Publishing and Aliyah Burke for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
This was good! The characters have great chemistry and excellent banter. Love the forced proximity and found family tropes in it!
