I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Small town. Fake dating. Turkish tv stars. It was an adventure we all hope to have one day and one I was happy to go along with Aria. The banter back and forth with her and Cem was great. The love story was sweet. I really enjoyed this book and getting to travel to a new place! Definitely recommend!

This is a nice comfort read. It takes its characters and their romance seriously, plus it won’t overwhelm you with painful feelings.

Enni Amanda's 'My Lucky Star' is a captivating romance, blending Turkish traditions with dreamy locations like Napier and Istanbul. Aria, a lovable protagonist, encounters the charming Turkish movie star Cem, leading to a proposition that could change her life. The story unfolds with a delightful mix of flirty, funny, and heartfelt moments, exploring customs related to marriage and intimacy. While the ending felt a bit swift, the overall resolution is beautiful, striking a balance between romance and a heartwarming narrative. A refreshing read for romcom enthusiasts with a taste for cultural richness.

Aria was an interesting character, and the setting/landscape were wonderfully written, but their relationship just wasn't very interesting to me, and I wish that there was more overall depth. Still, I cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed the aspects of New Zealand and Turkish culture that were included! I just wish that the plot that it was connected to did it more justice.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for gifting me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

Cem is a Turkish actor hiding out after a public scandal, so he goes to New Zealand. By chance, he meets Aria, who doesn't know who he is. It so happens that Aria looks like Cem's ex girlfriend Burcu, so along with Cem's brother, a plan is formed for Aria to pose as Burcu. What could go wrong?

This is a slow-burn kind of book. It gets under your skin and builds up in a warm fuzzy kind of way. Both the main characters are quite lovely, in my opinion. Aria has given up a bit on her dream of acting, but she is also encouraging Cem in other ways. The dry wit is awesome sauce! I chuckled so much! I thought this was a solid romance comedy.

DNF @ 17%. I have picked this book up twice and started it from the beginning both times, thinking I wasn't in the mood for a story like this, but it's not me. It's Cem. I hate him so much. Early in the book, he says something to the effect of, "is it me? Am I an entitled asshole." His brother Emir said he was a "spoilt, self-centered jerk." Yes, yes he is, 110% yes. Knowing how he judged the woman at the beginning of the book for being fat and smelling like cleaner, I am wary of his insta-love attraction to Aria. He judges EVERYTHING: the way she makes tea, her accent... I really cannot get past his blatant rudeness about the woman at the hotel. And he is using her!! And she reminds hin of his ex! RUN, ARIA, RUN! Everything in my being was screaming "you're in danger, girl!!" as Cem was debating about fake dating Aria. No. It's giving creeper, and Cem doesn't pass the vibe check, even if he changes his tune and becomes a better person.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lumi Publishing, and Enni Amanda for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for my review.

While I enjoyed this book I did have a bit of trouble getting into it. Once I did though it was a fun romance novel to read

Aria's and Cems' story was so heartwarming, funny and a great take on fake dating. I liked this book a lot., I enjoyed learning about Turkish culture. The story felt a bit slow, but that may just be me liking faster pace. All in all this was a sold 4 star book that I enjoyed reading.

This book was just not for me as it didn't have the slow burn or conflict I want surrounding the fake dating trope. I think if you are a fan of Turkish shows and have more background knowledge than I do going into this book, you will fall in love with the setting.

While I enjoyed the unique backdrop to this story, I found it hard to relate to the characters, which had me skimming near the 50% mark of this book. I found it hard to root for them when they were just a little too dramatic and unlikable for me. Even if the FMC is insecure, I don't want that to be her entire personality, and I think that for me just took away from the story and contrasted oddly against our MMC's personality.

I gave it a good 70 % before having to dnf. I'm sorry but the male character has to be the worst love inters that I read this year. No boundaries respected, can't take no for an answer (thank God he isn't an actual bad guy because what else would he do), the female lead is also the biggest cry baby poor little meeeee type that I wanted to throw my phone across the room.
Sorry, it's just not for me
I tried, I really really did....
I will not however bash this book online or leave a bad review on goodreads and Instagram. It's unfair to the author just because it wasn't a good fit to tank their sales.

Aria has returned home to Napier, New Zealand after seven years of trying to become an actress. While scouting a location for a movie that will be filmed in Napier, she discovers Cem, a famous Turkish actor. He's in a bind and needs help. A deal is struck that Aira would pretend to be Burchu, a reclusive former costar and partner of Cem's in the hopes that the publicity will cancel out the negative press in his life. They don't count on their attraction to each other.

While I thought this book was okay, I'm not a huge fan of insta love. I also thought it lacked any real depth. I wanted more growth from the characters and I don't feel like that ever happened. All in all, it was fine, but not overly remarkable or memorable.

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy of my lucky star. This was such a cute romance novel. I like that it was staged outside of the US, so many are stuck in the states with no difference from each other. The Turkish words that I learned too, very cool.

I found this one difficult to finish as I got very bored with it halfway through. Nothing happened except the pair lusting after each other. I didn't kike how the characters kept referring to the fact that Aria looked like Cem's ex-girlfriend. It just didn't leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling and it certainly didn't make me feel good about any romance that would develop between them.

My Lucky Star by Enni Amanda is a contemporary romance set on two continents in two different cultures.

It was a mosty enjoyable read with a nicely presented love story with a really interesting banter and some funny scenes.
The chemistry between main characters was not that great and believable. There was some steam but not too much.
It was interesting to see a life of a celebrity and some of the things that go behind the scenes, all the good and bad things, hardships and challenges.
I think that main male character was less believable in his almost immediate love for the main female character. I simply thought that it was too much too soon.
I enjoy a fake dating part and wish there was more of it.
The thing that I enjoyed the least was female character constant battle with insecurity, doubts and worries about her life choices regarding job, love and her dreams. Especially regarding her relationship with the man, which I can absolutely relate to but it was still overdone and it was very tiring.
However, it was still a satisfactory read.
