I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
From an educator's perspective, this book is handy to cover the personal topics, such as talking to kids regarding divorce, the importance of diversity, and friendship struggles. There are many times when a student has come to me with a comment, problem, or question, and I have had to fly by the seat of my pants to find an appropriate response. There are a few chapters that will be helpful to parents that I feel were a bit redundant to those who have worked with kids such as the talking about money chapter, or the talking about emotions chapter; but I would recommend to both parents and educators to have to turn to when those tough conversations are nearing!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy for review!
Excellent book, part of the series I love and use professionally. Very much recommend to any mental health professional or parent.
This book provides some practical advice and helpful tips easily implemented. I liked that the topics were organized by chapter and can be quickly referenced.
Thank you NetGalley and SourceBooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is definitely a great source of help for talking about certain topics. It's hard to not lose patience. This gives all sorts of small scripts to help navigate situations so you can help your little ones learn about their emotions and how to label them.
Also scripts for when they get older and conversations get more difficult or sensitive (ie depression, fear, anxiety, death, babies, etc)
They made a good point that it's good to put some information out there before the Internet, a random kid or a forum introduced them to the topic.
Definitely going to bookmark some conversations that I want to have but need a little guidance on how to start. Great resource for open communication and healthy relationships.

Thank you sourcebookscasa for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
I love this book for providing practicul, helpful responses to many of the difficult questions kids have. Beyond scripts to address each topic, it also provides a break down of varoous aspects of each issue to help you think about how you want to approach it.
A good book full of tips, info, and sample conversation starters on lots of topics. Chapters cover talking about Anger, Sadness, & Other Big Feelings; Self-Esteem; Sex; Death; Diversity & Inclusion; Divorce & Nontraditional Family Structures; Mistakes & Failure; Friendship; and Money.
I appreciated the sample conversations and things to say/not say. My son is 8, and I found most of the advice to be potentially relevant to his age. I liked how the author consulted other experts relevant to each chapter, but I did notice that a lot of the quotes were from her own podcast, so if someone is a regular listener of that (which I am not), the advice might be very repetitive.
Overall, I thought it was helpful and it did give me ideas of conversations to have.
I will use this book when parents need support with specific conversations. Its well written and easy to read. It holds amazing information.
This book is really amazing. The info is streamlined, but incredibly thorough. It’s easy to understand and gave me a lot to think about. There’s info for all ages, it will be useful from toddlers to teens, but a lot of stuff is still relevant for adults! I do wish it was broken down a little more by age, so I knew what is age appropriate.
The NetGalley app made the format a lot easier to read than the kindle version.
I appreciate getting an arc copy of this book. I initially signed up to read this due to the title but once you start reading the book, it's built a little differently than I expected.
There is some helpful information in the book and as one other reader mentioned, it would be helpful if the conversations/practical advice was broken down by age ranges.
Has some good advice. I will refer back to this as needed. The digital arc is a bit hard to read in places. I'm looking forward to having a copy for my shelf for easy reference. As with any book like this, take it and adjust the suggestions to your situation.
A well-researched and comprehensive guide to approaching touchy subjects with children without scaring them off.
I received a copy of this one and although I think it is really impactful for parents that need very explicit help in conversations with kids, the galley format is INCREDIBLY hard to read. I found the information helpful and really wonderful, and I’m looking forward to the published version! The way the chapters are broken down into categories is so great in finding what you need, and the scripts could be seen as overkill but again, for the unseasoned parent, this one is a gem in the world of parenting books.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!
Just from the title alone, this sounded like a book I needed in my life. With two young kids I could sure use some advice with all the tough topics that have started coming up in our daily conversation.
There were lots of good topics covered, especially ones I hadn’t considered like allowance, money, and big feelings. These concepts were organized by chapter.
For myself, it would have been ideal if I could find the relevant parts to the age of my kids. I would have preferred a book broken down by age rather than topic, or have the topics broken into age groups more clearly.
There is overall some good advice, for both new and experienced parents
There are so many helpful tips and scripts in this book. It would be a helpful guide for parents to have. Navigating through life is hard and confusing and the information and support this book gives is helpful. My school won't be purchasing a copy because we only have kids checking out books, but it is a book I would recommend to parents.
