I always love when I see a new book by Nicole Trope. I love the voice she gives to the characters and the unexpected bits in her books. I’ll admit in this one I knew where it was going. Not sure if I was supposed to or not, but I always seemed to know where this one was heading. Except for one piece. But honestly, I like her style of writing and enjoyed the read.

I loved the start of this one. It really grabbed me. There were multiple calls about a pedestrian being hit on a rainy street and everyone calling in had a widely different description of the car that hit him. Let me forewarn you that no one in this is likable. The more you read about Damon, the more slimey he becomes. And while I am not married, these women are nuts. There are four POVs recounting what has happened after the accident. The wife, his psychologist, his mistress and a mystery woman that obviously cares for him. It didn’t take me long to figure out where this one was headed, but of course I’ve been wrong before.

The chapters are short and the pace is quick. I read this in just a few hours and really never thought about putting it down. It’s more a domestic mystery then a thriller, but I really enjoyed it.

If you a fan of cheating husbands and the family drama that ensues, you need to pick this one up.

This book started out so strong! The opening with three witnesses giving three different reports to emergency services blew my mind! The POV shifted frequently. At times, a scene would start in one POV and then another character would take over. Other times, three similar things happened in three chapters in a row, so you got each POV, which got repetitive. The overall story sucked me in and it was a great read!

There are three sides to this story...her's, mine and the truth...

Nicole Trope is one of my favourite authors and one I go-to without hesitation. And once again delivers a quick, easy read that revolves around an unfaithful husband, an angry wife and a string of women who really should know better. It's a compelling read filled with family drama and a wealth of secrets and lies. And I read it in pretty much one sitting.

The story opens with "the accident" and various 000 calls reporting the incident. Each of the three witnesses to call it in all describe a different car responsible for the hit and run and, while eyewitness accounts are notoriously unreliable, we eventually discover why.

Then we meet Marla. She's the wife of a CEO of a successful IT company. They've been married for twenty-on years and have two teenage children - Sean (19) and Bianca (17). But her marriage isn't all that it appears on Instagram and she self medicates with drink to get her through the day. And her children are practically grown, her usefulness there appears to have ended also. But life hasn't always been like this. She was there when her husband started his company and there as he built it up. She too has reaped the affluent rewards of his success in their beautiful home, luxury cars, designer clothes and expensive lifestyle. She even has botox to keep those wrinkles at bay. And it all looks good on Instagram too. But it's just a facade. And Marla suddenly feels as though she is no longer enough...for anyone anymore.

Sonya is a single mum to twelve year old Jasper. Her own marriage ended nine years ago and her ex has since moved to America, remarried and now has a brand new baby of his own. As a psychologist, one would think Sonya could read the warning signs and prevent all the heartache that came her way but she is only human too. She sits in her office awaiting her client who arranged this unscheduled appointment on her day off long enough to deem him a no-show before she grabs her bag and heads home.

Athena - even her name is ethereal - is a 39 year old woman about become a first time mother, pregnant with the child of her lover who doesn't want children. She thinks she can change his mind, that as soon as he sees his child's heartbeat on the monitor he will fall instantly in love with the baby and move in with her. She wants that more than anything. But at what cost?

When the news comes on that evening, scenes from the hit and run are breaking news. Police are appealing for witnesses, dashcam and mobile phone camera footage to help them identify the victim and the car that ran him down. Each of the three women see the news and each of them recognise the gold watch and the wedding band he wears...albeit, occasionally. Each of them rush to the hospital respectively to identify the victim as Damon Kennedy. But how are each of these women related to him? As the story progresses, readers will discover his relationship with each of them. But what does it all mean?

The police are struggling to find out who is responsible despite investigations and the constant questioning and review of their own respective vehicles, having been identified by nearby CCTV footage. But the drenching rain the day of the accident makes visibility on any footage retrieved next to useless.

And what of Damon Kennedy? And the trail of hurt rejected women in his wake? Did someone run him intentionally? And if so, who? The why is blindingly obvious but with so many suspects, the question remains which one of them did it?

The story unfolds through the differing perspectives of Marla, Athena and Sonya, as well as the odd random inclusion of a mystery woman peppered throughout. Each chapter is heavily inclusive of detailed descriptions of their interactions with Damon as well as each other. Sometimes I found this confusing as I was unsure whether some of the interactions took place before or after the accident. It wasn't entirely clear in the way it was told, leaving me a little baffled in parts.

While this was a quick and easy enough read, it wasn't one of Trope's best. And I really loathe to say that because I know what a brilliant storyteller she is and I love her work. But even our favourite authors can write a tale that we just don't enjoy as much as their others though I know I am bound to love whatever she brings out next.

Overall, a compelling read dripping with secrets, lies and tension. With a twist at the end that even left me guessing.

I would like to thank #NicoleTrope, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheTruthAboutTheAccident in exchange for an honest review.

The Truth about the accident is a superb domestic drama that I found difficult to put down. Told from the perspective of 3 women and an unidentified narrator. I was completely invested in this book from the very beginning. Great characters but one in particular I so badly wanted to reach into my kindle and slap very hard 😂😂. A compelling and engrossing read with plenty of twists throughout the book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

This book was a quick easy read told in the POVs of three women who are all involved with the same man. A mystery 4th narrator adds some sinister elements to the story. The identity of this narrator is revealed at the end in a very underwhelming twist.

The chapters are short, which means that you don’t really learn much about any of the narrators outside of their relationship with the same man.

This book was full of twists and turns. Why some men think they can get away with anything blows my mind. Kept me engaged the whole time would recommend

I love the book burb it sets the scene for a fast paced domestic thriller.. The story begins as people ring in with reports of a hit and run in the rain. The story is told from the view point of three very different but strong women. Each chapter got me further hooked in as they told me more about the characters and their history. I couldnt wait for them all to come together and the strange chapter in between from a non named character really kept me turning the pages. I like the honesty of each character and their reaction was accurate and true to life. I felt tge story foccued on the women and i would have liked a little one on him by him .
The plot reveal was fabulous and the way it pulled all the characters together and the final twist at the end.
Highly recommended 5 stars. This was a real pleasure to read thank you so much net gallery and bookouture for my arc.

I have read a few books by this author and liked them all. While this might not be my favorite it is still a good read.

Damon is a piece of work to say the least. Although he is married, he finds it impossible to stay faithful. The story begins with a man being hit by a car. The multiple eye witness reports are all different. Told in multiple points of view by the wife, his mistresses and an unnamed person.

The characters are interesting if not all likeable. This set the scene for a fun ride to find the culprit.

I liked that the chapters are short and to the point. I didn't have to slog through a bunch of unnecessary descriptions, etc.

The ending will give you the answers you need in an interesting way.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Damon is too vile for even words to describe.
He got what was coming to him, the loathsome predator.
But I had a hard time finding much sympathy for his women, particularly Marla and Athena, since they knew exactly what a scumbag he was.
Only one had the temerity to mete out justice for them all.
A great read!

Nicole does it again! I’m quickly becoming a fan of the way she writes. Her characters continue to develop and hold my interest and the twists within the domestic drama keep me invested.

Thanks so much NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC

This was a quick read that held my interest overall. I didn’t really care for the main characters, but I always love multiple POV’s. I thought this was a thriller, but it was more of domestic drama. There weren’t really any twists and that’s what I tend to look for but it was a good read.

Damon Kennedy is handsome and rich. He’s also a serial cheater. On a rainy morning, he’s the victim of a hit and run accident. As he lies in a coma, his wife keeps vigil. Through four points of view, his wife, his therapist, his mistress and a mystery person, the reader learns of the events leading up to the crash. What will happen to him now? Who hit him? Was it really an accident? Trope builds suspense and I had difficulty putting this down. I really enjoyed it though the ending was not my favorite. I thank NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

A quick, easy read revolving around an unfaithful husband, an angry wife and a number of women on the side who really should know better.

I loved the way the book began with accident reports on a hit and run. Each of the witnesses describes a totally different vehicle as being responsible. Eventually you do discover why. The story is told in three different POV's plus a mystery person who is not revealed until the end and I found their identity to be quite a surprise.

An entertaining read.

Three women. One day. An accident that connects them all...

When Marla's husband is involved in a road traffic collision and placed into an induced coma, she should be sat by his bedside hoping and praying for his safe recovery. Except she isn't.

When Sonya's patient doesn't arrive for his appointment, she is sure it is because of his narcissistic and arrogant traits that have meant he just hasn't bothered turning up. But it isn't.

Anthea arrives for her ultrasound appointment, hoping that the baby's father will have changed his mind and be there for this special moment. Yet he isn't.

The tangled web of these women's lives will be brought together in unimaginable ways as a man lays in a coma in a hospital bed.

I really enjoyed this book, which kept me guessing right through the story. The women are all likable and believable and, despite their differing views and reasons, as a reader you empathise with each of them as you find out their story and how they are connected. I was eager to read on to find out their connections and the ending was a surprise and delightful too.

What a fast-paced ride this story is! It is also a challenge to write a review without any spoilers so I’ll keep it simple. Nicole Trope writes excellent, absorbing stories and this one certainly lives up to that!

Told from several perspectives and dual timelines from before the accident and to the present, after the accident. This allows readers the chance to make predictions, with new information unfolding towards a fuller picture. This runs alongside the present puzzles, actions and challenges that are constantly happening.

Marla is a strong, but at times not particularly likeable, protagonist, dealing with a lot of issues in her marriage, whilst trying to maintain her ‘instagram’ life / public face and make sure her teens only see this facade too.

There are two other main narrators and also a secret narrator, which all contrast well, twisting perfectly towards a climactic ending.

If you can imagine trying to clear twisty weeds from your garden, that are entwined firmly around the main elements of your life, you will have some idea of how wide-reaching the problems in this plot go!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the layered plot unfold towards a great ending. Enjoyable, fast read!

This domestic thriller is based around a narcissistic philanderer and the tangled web of deceit that results in an accident in which he is severely injured. The book follows different POVs, including former scorned mistresses and his wife - all of whom share increasing motive for being involved in the accident which harmed Damon.

The final twist was clever but not particularly concealed as the story did lead to it slowly, rather than taking more of an unexpected turn which was the only thing this book was missing - a little more depth to the twist would have made this an unmissable thriller but sadly the ending left me wanting more after investing so much in the characters throughout.

This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed her style of writing, and will look to pick up more of her books over the coming months - both the writing style and the short chapters made it an easy and pleasant read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

On a rainy day in Sydney Australia a man was run over and lingers in a coma and while he does the police look for the culprit and the women who were left behind try and figure out what they didn’t know when he was alive. There’s his mistress Athena who is expecting a child that he didn’t want, that was his psychiatrist/other mistress Who seems to only add more confusion to the situation and then there’s his daughter and long-suffering wife. She knew he cheated before and on the day of the accident she wanted them to put all their cards on the table and because the kids were home they went for a ride but how did Damien go from the passenger seat to a victim on side the road and who did it? The ending of this book is a wild OMG ending I didn’t know what to put in my summary and after the book was over I had to sit with it for a few moments to wait for my head to stop ringing because wow! I love Miss tropes books and she certainly doesn’t disappoint with this one a definite five star read and the reason I love her books. I want to say I really had no sympathy for Athena and thought she had a lot of nerve making demands because she was pregnant because she got pregnant for a man who already had two kids… But then again I cannot stand the cheater and so maybe should’ve kept those comments to myself either way this is a great book I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this route to you voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
