Thank you to NetGalley and Bookotoure for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book! While the twist wasn’t anything too shocking, it was a quick, great domestic thriller and fun to read. This book is the perfect example of when multiple perspectives can REALLY WORK in a book! I have enjoyed this author’s books and look forward to reading more. 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was addicting! I picked it up and did not want to put it back down until I was finished!

We follow three women - Marla, Sonya, and Athena, after a car accident where a pedestrian was struck. This pedestrian turns out to be Marla's husband. I don't want to give anything else away, because not knowing is half the fun!

I loved the alternating POVs of this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and each woman has such a distinctive voice - some of them more likable than others. I found myself physically anxious while reading this, in a good way. I could not wait to figure out what actually happened, even though I had my suspicions.

The one thing I didn't like about this book was how quickly it wrapped up. I would have liked more at the end. But other than that, it was a really fun ride and I was waiting with bated breath the entire time. I definitely recommend this one, especially if love a thriller that revolves around marriage!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC!

Wow! Revenge is best served cold. This one was cold. Damon had it coming, but he never saw it coming. You have three women and one mystery woman telling this story from their point of view. You have the wife, Marla. Marla is sick of Damon's wandering eye. One mistress is Sonya, and she is not only the mistress, but his therapist. The second mistress is Athena. She is really in love with Damon. Finally, you have a mystery woman's point of view. She slinks around in the shadows.

On a rainy day Damon is hit by a car or cars. No one really saw anything, or the ones that saw something had different accounts for how it happened. The cameras are not working at the intersection which hinders the investigation. You will suspect everyone at some point and time because they all were very angry with him. The further you get into the story the plot thickens even more as you learn more about Damon and his obvious disdain for being honest to anyone in his life. This was a twisty read with many moving parts and the mysterious woman made it even more interesting. You will not be able to put it down because you will have to know the ending.

There were some characters that I really could not stand, and others I felt a little sorry for their situation. Damon was very dislikable due to his general attitude and lack of caring for anyone but himself, but I guess that was necessary in order for him to be the character he portrayed. This one will keep you interested and engrossed until the final pages.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a quick, easy read. I wasn’t super impressed with the storytelling or the twists, but I wasn’t bored either like I have been with a lot of my reads lately.

The chapters are short and to the point, so not a lot of fluff to skim over. Overall it’s a good read, but it wasn’t a roller coaster ride by any means.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC. Review will be posted to Insta (@ellie.reads.a.lot) by publication date.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! It was my first book by Nicole Trope and it was very enjoyable! I sometimes struggle keeping up with multiple point-of-view, but Nicole did a great job of making the story easy to follow! The twist at the end of the book was totally unexpected! I’m giving this four stars because I do feel like the end was a bit too rushed. That being said, I still enjoyed it and would recommend to others!

Loved the short chapters and fast pace of this book.
Really enjoyed reading from different perspectives. Left you wondering what the truth was.
Full of suspense and tension leading up to the bombshell.
Could not put this down.
First read by Nicole Trope.

I have previously read Nicole Trope books such as The Stay-at-Home Mother and The Family Across the Street. I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this book. It revolves around a man who gets hit by a car. Throughout the book, we learn about three women involved in his life. The story unfolds very, very slowly and nothing adds to who might have hit him. We learn that each has reasons to be angry with him, but the characters flop too quickly back and forth between love and hate. I found the ending surprising but I was very unhappy with it. It seemed like the deadline to finish the book arrived so it was thrown together at the last minute. It was a decent read but clearly not the author’s best work.

I received an ARC from Bookouture through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating for this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

This was good/okay. I felt this didn’t have any many layers as I’d prefer. Meaning, if I gave spoilers, I could summarize this book in 3 sentences.
I have loved a different Nicole Trope book…but this one didn’t do it for me. I guessed the twist early on and that’s not usually something I can do. I was still interested is what was going on in the relationships. So I can see how others might really enjoy this. I will continue reading this author and appreciate the early read, thanks to NetGalley and the author.

I liked this quite a bit even if the ending was easy to guess.

This was one of the few books I've read where I actually wanted the "victim" to die. Damon was a slime and the worst kind of womanizer. The story held my interest and the author kept the plot running along smoothly.

I would definitely read other works by this author.

Marla’s husband Damon gets hit by a car in a massive rainstorm. 2 other female witnesses also see it happen but are unable to identify the vehicle that hit Damon. The book takes us through how Marla and the other witnesses are all connected.

While I didn’t love this book, I didn’t hate it either. It was predictable and not much of a thriller like previously mentioned. I would have loved to hear about young Damon and how he made his money and got himself into the love triangle he was in.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC

They say eyewitness accounts can't be trusted. Everyone "saw" something different that day but they all heard the stomach-turning thump of a man being hit by a car.. and the driver kept on going. It was a rainy day so visibility was low.

Marla is a day drinking soon to be empty nester. Her life has been about keeping up with the Joneses. Ferrying the kids to various activities, buying all the right clothes, getting the right "work" done. Who will she be without the kids to care for?

Sonya is a single mom of a 12 year old boy so she only has a short time left to hang out with her boy before he's too cool so she's savoring every moment. His dad was abusive and ran off to America and started a new family and conveniently would like for Jasper to come stay a while. Disneyland Dad strikes again.

Athena is a future single mom, carrying the baby of her boyfriend who wants no children. She's at a baby appt hoping he shows up and when he doesn't, she's seeing red.

Who does the dead guy belong to? All of these ladies have reasons to wish to harm the annoying and problematic men in their lives. Eventually, we have to get to the truth about the accident.

This was a pleasure as always! I love Nicole Trope. She has such a unique and interesting voice in the mystery/thriller world. I am all ears anytime she wants to share..

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review!

Nicole Trope's latest domestic thriller follows Marla and her garbage husband Damon after he has been involved in a hit-and-run accident. The story alternates between the viewpoints of Marla, Athena, and Sonya, and we slowly learn how they are all connected.
I really liked Trope's other books, but this one fell short for me. Damon is an absolute turd of a person, which was the point, but I didn't care for any of the other characters. Marla was the typical rich, skinny, white wronged wife, and this trope (pun intended) has become boring and overused in the thriller genre. The story didn't really seem to go anywhere and had a predictable ending. There was a small twist that just seemed odd and a little random.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

I love suspense books! Books filled with drama, lies, and secrets. This story revolves around the family of a hit a run victim. I love that the story is told from different perspectives, including a mystery woman. I thought the character development was great. The book was fast paced so it wasn’t drawn out and boring like some suspense books can be. Definitely going to be recommending this book!

Fast paced domestic thriller. Damon is not a good person. He has deceived his wife many times with multiple affairs and lies. When Damon is hit by a car during a rainstorm by someone who doesn’t stop, the list of people who did it is endless. As the story progresses you learn the true extent of Damon’s deception and the women he has wronged. Told from different points of view and timelines, this excellent book is not to be missed.

It’s a fairly typical day, albeit a wet one, when an unidentified man is found after seemingly being hit by a car. He has no identification and is transported to hospital in an induced coma. Someone knows more than they’re letting on, and The Truth About the Accident is focused on showing us who’s hiding what and why.
By the time the man’s identity is revealed we know he’s a serial adulterer. There are at least two women other than his wife who recognise him and we are quickly told that each of them has reason to feel upset by his behaviour.
Initially I found myself intrigued by the story, but as we learned more about our main character - who we only see through the eyes of others - it was hard to muster much sympathy for him. While the women involved did evoke some sympathy in me, they each knew what they were getting into and, as such, I found it hard to mind either way what happened to them at the end.

I just can't seem to get into this one. It's not keeping my interest at all.
This author is very good so I'm sure it's me.
I'm very sorry but it's just not for me.

I gaze at my husband's once handsome face, so still and pale in the hospital bed. The doctors say I should keep talking. He might be able to hear me even after the terrible accident that had left him fighting for his life. But all I have to whisper to my husband is I know what you did.

This story is told from the differing perspectives of Marla, Athena, Sonya and a mystery woman in alternating chapters. Damon is in a medically induced coma after being hit by a car. We find out his relationship with each of the women. The police are struggling to find out who was responsible for the accident. The characters are well developed, and the pace is fast. I was instantly pulled into this book. The story has a dual timeline that's told in the past and present-day format, giving us an insight of what had happen leading up to Damon being hit by the car. There are plenty of twists in this addictive read.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #NicoleTrope for my ARC of #TheTruthAboutTheAccident in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book Damon has had quite a few affairs behind his wifes back but the book focuses on 2 of them and his wife so all through the book I didn't have a clue who caused his accident and then the ending wow that twist was good

This is the second book I've read by her and I definitely saw how strong her writing style comes through. It's always interesting for me to see how an author can structure each book to their own unique style while keeping it different.

Ugh I really wanted to like this one. There were a few decent twists but a lot of very predictable moments. Nothing ruins a book more to me than a plot hole. There were a few things that just didn’t make sense or plots that didn’t flow. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but you probably can find them easily.
I couldn’t get myself to like any of the characters.
Sorry this wasn’t it for me.
