Thank you to #NetGalley, Nicole Trope and #Bookouture for the opportunity to read an advance copy of The Truth About the Accident, to be published 30 Jun 2023. This novel was listed as Women’s Fiction but it had all of the underpinnings of a great psychological thriller, complete with twists and turns and an “OMG finale.” It was told from different perspectives and over a period of time in days. The characters were believable and one had all of the traits of a person you love to hate. 5/5 Stars. #NetGalley. #Bookouture. #NicoleTrope. #TheTruthAbouttheAccident
In this story a man is involved in a hit and run accident. As he lays in a coma his secrets start to come out. He’s not the man people think. I loved the multiple POV and the timeline alternating between before and after the accident. The timeline did not state it was before or after the accident so that added more mystery to the story. I enjoyed this book from the first to the last page.
This book reminded me of Liane Moriarty's books- which I love BTW. So reading this one was really exciting for me. I'm always looking for books like that and I think I found it in this author's writing. If you enjoy domestic suspense novels then this is a must read!
When Damon, a CEO and husband, is hit by a car the cops struggle to figure out who did it. The weather was terrible the night of the accident, and the cameras don't give a clear view. While Marla, Damon's wife, should be surprised when the cops show up at her door, she is prepared for the news. The reader wonders why she isn't more upset. Then, we start to meet Damon's mistresses and we understand why. Told from multiple POV's, with great character development, we get the full picture of Damon's life, and are reminded that sometimes marriages that look perfect, actually have cracks.
This was a fast paced read, with a satisfying ending. 3.5, rounded up to 4 stars for me. Thank you to NetGalley, and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for the honest review.
This one was a quick and easy revenge read with a really unlikeable character.
One morning, Damon is involved in a hit and run. As the story goes along, we get to hear about his life as a CEO, his marriage and all of his secrets. The police try to piece together what happened, but really, they cannot even begin to imagine! Another enjoyable novel by the author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the gifted advance copy.
This book was awesome! 4 different POVs. Lies, affairs, murder, it has it all!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
I love when books are written in different POV. I feel like it really keeps me entertained the entire time. The truth about the accident is told in Marla, Athena, and Sonya, and a mystery womans POV. Damon is Marla's husband but is in some way linked to all the women of the story, one day he is hit by a car on a rainy Wednesday with no witnesses, at least no witnesses that are coming forward.... I enjoyed the writing style of this book, but I did start to find the storyline to be predictable towards the middle. All in all, it was still a good book that was well written and did keep me engaged in the plot.
Amazing read! Couldn't put the book down once I started. I felt like I was in a movie and wanted to know what happened and was drawn in from the time I started. Would highly recommend if you like the thriller/mystery type of book with a bit of mistress/cheating going on!
The character development this book was great. I found myself truly interested in some of the side characters as well. I enjoyed the changing POVs too. It can sometimes be confusing to start, but it always helps stay engaged in the story.
The plotline was pretty unique, there were some good twists a little predictable, but still enjoyable. I appreciate the opportunity to receive an advanced reader copy.
DNF- Could not finish this one. I tried to be invested in the story, but I just didn’t feel entertained by the characters of the storyline.
WOW..WOW...WOWWWW! Y'all this book is a rollercoaster read! This wife...The secrets...I Could not get enough of it! Thank you AGAIN Nicole Trope for a 5 star read! Your books never disappoint! I will have to have a shirt with "Nicole Trope is Brilliant" hahaha
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
The character development and world building in this book were great. I found myself truly interested in some of the side characters as well.
I really enjoyed the changing POVs too. It can sometimes be confusing to start, but it always helps me get through the books faster and stay engaged.
The plotline was pretty unique. There were some good twists.. a little predictable, but still enjoyable.
This was a fantastic, well-written story. I felt a little lost at the beginning, with changing points-of-view when I hadn’t figured out who the characters were yet, but that pulled me deeper into the book because I wanted to figure it out. I liked that there were “good” and “bad” aspects of each character, and I felt sympathy and anger towards each of them at various points. The book moved at a good pace, fully developing the story while not belaboring mundane points. I highly recommend this book!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the read/review of #TheTruthAboutTheAccident by #NicoleTrope. I thought this book was phenomenal. Without giving anything away, I loved the characters, the storyline and the surprise ending.
Thank you Netgalley for this Arc!
I liked the flow of the storyline. It wasn’t a mind blowing read by any means but I still enjoyed it. I liked the short chapters so that the storyline of the characters didn’t drag on. The book kept me guessing a bit but that ending…well, I didn’t see that coming. Overall, I’d recommend this book to others.
Quick and easy read. I think a lot of marriage thrillers end up feeling very samey but a fun read nonetheless!
I don’t really want to write this review. The Truth About the Accident is the 2nd book by Nicole Trope that I have read. The 1st was The Family Across the Street and I really enjoyed that book. This one, though, was not for me. The Truth About the Accident is told from multiple perspectives and is centered around a rainy morning accident where Damon is struck by a car. He has been left hospitalized, in a coma, fighting for his life. His doting wife Marla is by his side as the police try to piece together what happened. Damon has not been a faithful husband and his mistresses are the other perspectives we see from. I am not sure what it was about this book, but I struggled to find it interesting. There wasn’t much here that kept me involved. The people were dull to me and I really didn’t care what happened to them. It’s not poorly written. I just fully found it uninteresting. I seem to be in the minority here as other reviewers seem to love it. I am giving it 2/5 stars and I hate to do that as I truly loved the other work by this author that I have read. This book will be published on June 30th 2023. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me access to an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review will be found on Instagram and Goodreads indefinitely.

Another brilliant read from Nicole Trope! The master storyteller has woven another fascinating domestic drama with so many twists and turns and coincidences along the way. Each story interweaves with the next until the whole truth is finally revealed. Loved it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an UNBELIEVABLE read in The Truth About The Accident. This was some plot, my gosh the therapist talking to the wife, WHOA!!!! All in All a Fantastic novel, I LOVE books like this where you can’t wait for the pages to turn. Great women characters, awesome writing, just the whole package. This is why I jump when Nicole Tropes books come out. Thanks again.
Damon Kennedy is struck by a car while crossing the street on a rainy day, he is now in a medically induced coma fighting for his life. The car that hit him sped off. While the police search for the hit and run driver, his wife Marla sits at his bedside reliving the day of the accident. She and Damon had argued that day, she hasn't been completely honest with the police.
Sonya, Damon's therapist, and Athena, one of Damon's mistresses, also have secrets they haven't told the police.
I absolutely love Nicole Trope's novels, however I struggled with finishing this one. It just didnt keep my interest as her other books have. None of the characters were likeable, the only chapters I really liked were from a mystery person's perspective. I hated that all the women were so naive and still loved Damon and were willing to forgive him. This was less thriller and more domestic drama. Not my favorite by this author, but I definitely look forward to more from her.
