This preview was SO fun! I appreciated how quickly readers are able to connect with and empathize with both characters, even from just a small sample of chapters. I can't wait to read more.
I only received the first six chapters, but I love where this is going! Rachel Reid did a great job sucking me in and I can't wait to see where the rest of this is going!
I will read pretty much anything Rachel Reid publishes. She really knows her stuff when it comes to hockey.
So far, I love the dynamic between these two. This is the first time I've read about a hockey goalie and felt like the author was actually able to capture the sheer absurdity of their superstitions.
I'm a Devils fan and Landon is giving me very much Akira Schmid vibes. Casey is as cute as a button and I want to hug him until he stops breathing. I can already see how they are going to complement each other and help each other work through their issues. Team Lasey all day, baby!!
Can't wait to read the rest! The first few chapters are signature Rachel Reid: full of hockey and humor (and of course, major unresolved sexual tension). Casey is a lovable himbo who believes dragons are on par with dinosaurs, Landon is prickly and clever, and it's clear their decision to room together is just the start of an excellent love story.
I only got the chance to read these 6 chapters so I dk the whole thing but I liked where it was going
thank you netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review
10/10 no notes.
I ended up holding off reading the preview until it was closer to release time as I knew I wouldn't get the full ARC approved being in the U.K., but I'm glad I waited in the end as I could enjoy the book to full effect.
Anyway, I love Casey and Landon and I'd die for them- I think the preview chapters really set the book up well, but of course everyone should read the book immediately.
Thank you to Carina for providing me with this sample- please publish in the UK!!
I am not sure how to give feedback for this since it is only 6 chapters BUT I can say that i was intrigued enough to go ahead and buy the book. My library doesn’t have it so here we are! I am looking forward to see where this friendship is heading and how it becomes a romance. Both of these characters clearly have some sort of trauma or fear that they are harboring big time. Here is to hoping it is as good as the reviews say! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a preview of this book in exchange for an honest review. Now here I go to actually read it :)
The preview was fantastic. This is a great addition to Reid's line of books! I just reviewed Time to Shine - PREVIEW by Rachel Reid. #TimetoShinePREVIEW #NetGalley

I loved this preview very much. The characters are very cute and I immediately bought the full ebook!
I went into this book not knowing anything about it other than it was a hockey romance. It was pretty entertaining and seemed to have dual POV spread throughout the chapters. I did like the premise of the book and how it jumped right into the plot and set it up for the rest of the book. We get a good introduction to Casey and Landon plus all the side hockey players. I like getting to see into the lives of both of them and am curious how they will end up meshing/getting together!
A very promising start! I have to say I’m very intrigued to see how Landon and Casey evolve throughout the book.
"Time to Shine" by Rachel Reid promises to be a heartwarming and engaging sports romance novel that explores the unexpected connection between two very different individuals brought together by hockey.
At its heart, the story seems to revolve around the contrast between its two main characters, Landon Stackhouse and Casey Hicks. Landon, the quiet and introverted backup goalie, appears to be the complete opposite of Casey, the charismatic and outgoing superstar winger. This intriguing dynamic sets the stage for a narrative filled with tension, humor, and personal growth.
The decision to make Landon and Casey roommates is a clever plot device that allows for their relationship to evolve from tentative cohabitation to a deep and meaningful connection. The gradual transformation of their relationship from mere roommates to close friends and potentially something more promises to be a captivating journey for readers.
The holiday backdrop adds a festive touch to the story, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for exploring the blossoming romance between the characters. It's during these moments that readers can likely expect some heartwarming and emotionally charged scenes.
However, the looming deadline of Landon's time in Calgary introduces an element of bittersweetness, raising questions about the future of their relationship. This element of time and potential separation adds depth to the story, making readers eager to discover how Landon and Casey navigate their feelings and circumstances.
Overall, "Time to Shine" appears to be a delightful blend of sports, romance, and personal growth. It seems poised to deliver a compelling and emotionally resonant narrative that will captivate fans of the genre. Rachel Reid's ability to craft engaging characters and relationships is likely to shine through in this promising novel.
I really enjoyed this preview and I'm excited to either receive the full ARC or purchase the book when it's released! So far I love the characters, the set up and the authors writing style. Hard to add much more than that based on 6 chapters but so far, SO GOOD! I just reviewed Time to Shine - PREVIEW by Rachel Reid. #TimetoShinePREVIEW #NetGalley

The first 6 chapters are a very promising start that have me wanting to read the rest of the book. I really enjoy that the characters clearly have some depth to them, even in just the first 6 chapters. I like Casey especially, with his upbeat and outgoing personality, but also with his fears of loneliness that make him feel more fleshed out and realistic. It will be very interesting to see how Casey and Landon with their contrasting personalities end up coming together. I'm also finding it fun to read about hockey, a sport I'm not at all familiar with. Overall I can't really give a verdict on the book having read only 6 chapters, but I can say so far so good.
Not unsurprisingly, Rachel Reid has once again hooked my interest and has me dying for more of this story. This sample was over much too quickly and I can't wait to read the rest. I really am dying to see how these two opposites find their HEA. Rachel grabs onto the grumpy sunshine dynamic and gives it a sweet spin. I know as their walls come down, I will fall even more in love with Casey and Landon. I adore a hurt-comfort storyline and each man has a need for the other that is unrealized in these preview chapters. Can release day get here any quicker?
As someone who have found some Cassie's to their inner Landon... y'all can be so exhausting, but my god you make life brighter and more interesting!
They're so cute, and even if Cassie sounds like a little bit of a mess and Landon like he needs to shake things up a bit, I love this and I can't wait to keep reading this book - these 6 chapters only made me want to keep reading more!
This little snippet was amazing, but now I am feral for more. MM Hockey Romance is my absolute Kryptonite, and probably one of my favorite romance niches to read, so I have been waiting to read this one for a while.
The setup for the book is so so good. Landon and Casey are already great characters, and I cannot wait to see how these opposites attract. I identify so much with Casey’s personality (including hating being alone) and it endeared me to him right away. Landon is a bit tougher nut to crack, but I always end up living those broken silent types and I can already tell he is going to steal my heart.
I also really love the writing style, and how easily the story flows. The only thing that could have made this better was simply having more of it! I cannot wait until release day when I get to find out more about Casey and Landon!
Well this looks promising! I love Casey’s sunshine personality, and I am intrigued by his loneliness and fear of the dark. Landon’s uncertainty and cautiousness mixed with Casey’s confidence makes for a good mix. Looking forward to reading the full book when it comes out!
I have loved every couple that Rachel Reid has written, and Landon and Casey are on their way to joining the list, based on this preview. Her hockey romances are my favorites of all time, and this holiday story is just what I’ve been hoping to read. Casey is larger-than-life but with a complex interior he doesn’t let show; Landon keeps to himself entirely, but the cracks are beginning to show. I am looking forward to reading their whole story and seeing how they make each other better. And knowing Rachel Reid, the romance will leave nothing unsaid! This preview piqued my interest; the full version will make my holiday romance reading merry and bright for sure!!
This is such a promising start to a new Rachel Reid hockey romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of it. Also hoping we get a new series!
