Are there words that can be used to describe this wonderful book? If there are, I can't think of anything that comes close to how incredible this story is.

This book is hot. This book is amazing. This book was extremely well written. I did not want to put this book down, but at the same time never wanted it to end. I LOVED Imogen and Tommy's story so much. It was so brilliantly done. This might be my new favorite in this series. And I am even more excited to read the next book!

I'm going to stop trying to come up with something that accurately describes my feels for this book because I am not a writer. However, Sarah MacLean is brilliant and amazing, so you should read this one.

Tommy's thighs save lives!

I really did enjoy this book, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone based on how much I love SM's writing and this series! Strangely, this one had a bit of a slow start for me, and I can't quite articulate why. Tommy and Imogen have been explosive together since Bombshell, so I feel like this might be a me issue. But once I got into things I really had a hard time stopping! Imogen is incredibly brilliant, and she had a nuance to her that I really appreciated. She could be smart, and clever, and still want to experience love and romance. She felt very real to me in that sense. She's the epitome of being a single girlie in a friend group full of couples. She was so loved and knew it, but she deserves love too.

What is there not to love about Tommy? I honestly was really concerned about his whole career choice and I worried that SM wrote herself into a corner, but I should have known we can trust him! I will say, he wasn't as starchy as I was expecting. But he was absolutely exasperated and I also love how he never thought that Imogen was too much. He fully embraced her and loved her for her, and never asked her to change. Other than being worried about her well being of course!

Like the rest of this series, the ensemble scenes are perfect and I loved seeing so many of our favorite former heroes and heroines. Caleb and Henry being Clueless Men™️ about kissing was perfect! The scene at the docks was so well done, followed by that scene in the brothel, it felt very Lisa Kleypas to be. Very large and dramatic, and I was absolutely here for it! While this book can technically be read as a standalone, it is absolutely much better having read the whole series!

AND THAT ENDING?! I knew we were going to get a mic-drop moment at the end regarding the Duchess, and I was not expecting that! And the way I'm already so desperate to see how everything plays out?! Straight into my veins please.

Kaboom!! This book blew me away! It was explosive and thrilling and incredibly touching. I have waiting for Imogen and Tommy's story since their character's were introduced and Sarah MacLean did not disappoint. Truly one of the best reads of 2023.

I have been waiting for Imogen and Tommy's story since the very first Hell's Belles romance, and with book three, Sarah MacLean delivered. It's an explosive love story featuring a wily, curvy bluestocking and a detective from Scotland Yard, filled with mystery, intrigue, and, well, explosions. These two are chaotic perfection. Their chemistry is off the charts. His protective instincts had me swooning, and Imogen is an absolute, GD delight. The cameos from the other belles were *chefs kiss,* and now Sarah has me positively FERAL for Duchess's book...whenever it comes out.

I couldn't put this one down. I read it in less than a day. Sarah MacLean was the first historical romance author I picked up, and I will always buy every new book she publishes. I own her entire backlist, and Knockout is probably one of my top three favorites of her entire catalog.

Well, I don't know exactly what to say about this book except that I took the long way to reading it and that I loved it. It was chaotic good—no, chaotic awesome—and I'm still feeling all the warm fuzzies and fizzy happiness from reading it. Oh, and ?!?! from the ending because OMG, why isn't book four coming out next week? Cruel, Sarah MacLean. Just plain cruel...

I grabbed this book, forgetting that I hadn't yet read the first two books in the Hell's Belles series—a series oversight on my part. And then, I was told by a trusted book friend that if I wanted the real experience, I actually needed to start with the Scandal & Scoundrel series, so I did. I read five books just to read this one, and while that meant it took way longer than it should have for me to experience the absolute delight of Imogen and Tommy, I don't regret it at all.

But since this isn't a review of those other books, I'll stick to what I loved about Knockout. Like Imogen's stubborn refusal to stick to the status quo and let the world run roughshod over her and her dreams and goals. Tommy's inability to walk away from the whirlwind that is Lady Imogen Loveless because he's fascinated by everything she (and others) think makes her mad. Oh, and never-know-what's-coming-next plot that took us outside of Mayfair and into the guts of London.

Most of all, though, it was the tension. Lord above, the tension rankled me (in the best way) until all I could think about was will they (of course they will), when will they (as soon as possible, please), how will they (with big bangs naturally), and who will they—actually, I'll just leave it there.

I didn't race through this book, though I might have if I'd had more time on my side. Instead, life made me take my time, and honestly, it was the kind of slow burn I adore. The one that keeps you coming back for more, searching for answers, and theorizing about this, that, and the other. I highly recommend reading this book—and if you have to take the long way to do so, do it. It's well worth it.

I was won over to Sarah MacLean's work when I read the self-description on her website. "I write books," she notes. "There's smooching in them." That same pithy, often irreverent voice is on full display in KNOCKOUT, the third of MacLean's Hell's Belles series (after BOMBSHELL and HEARTBREAKER) along with a supersized helping of female fierceness and an equally dramatic series of explosions (some figurative, some not). In choosing KNOCKOUT as one of their best books of the summer, Entertainment Weekly noted that the "third Sarah MacLean makes righteous female rage oh-so-sexy and empowering. Her books have always buzzed with a feminist undercurrent, but she devours misogyny and sets fire to the patriarchy with her latest.” Publishers Weekly notes, "It’s a joy to revisit the Hell’s Belles; series fans and new readers alike will get a kick out of Imogen’s time in the spotlight." Highly recommended as a read that's equally fierce and fun!

I just finished this book, and I am dying. DYING. To get my hands on the next one.

From book 1, Imogen was my favorite character. I loved her personality and her wit. I had hyped this book up in my mind for months, and it did not disappointed! Imogen and Peck have crazy chemistry, and I love their banter. The storyline was fast paced, and I wasn’t bored for one moment. It was truly *chef’s kiss*

I wish I could go back and re-experience this book for the first time again. It’s just too good. But I can’t, so you definitely should! ;)

This book.

I have reread it three times and I know it's going to be one of those comfort rereads going forward. It's just SO FREAKING GOOD.

Imogen is both sure of her self and also has scars from being rejected and ignored over the years. Going through her journey is this book was by far the best of the series. Don't even get me started on Tommy Peck. That man is everything I want and need in the MMC. His development. Their story. I just cannot.

If you've read the first two books in the series you HAVE to read this one. I mean it's the best. If you haven't read the first two books I really do think you could pick this one up and read it without much loss in details.

Long story short I highly recommend this book. Such a fun, fulfilling read!

I love the Hell's Belles series! Imogen and Tommy are everything. Love a bodyguard kind of romance. So much good stuff in this books. I love historical romance and Sarah MacLean is top tier.
We seen the chemistry (lol) brewing between these two since the very first book. And I was anxiously waiting their book along with their HEA. And it was sooo worth the wait.
Imogen was unapologetically herself. She wasn’t the social norm of the day and she embraced it. And Tommy was the epitome of pining hero. I only took away a half star because I hate when a hero makes decisions for the heroines “own good.” *rolls eyes*
I give this one 4.5 stars out of 5!

Sarah MacLean got back her spark in this romance between a arsonist and a police officer. The characters were quirky like never before and it proved to be an absolute delight.

The chemistry between them was so good and they bounced off eachother quite well.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of KNOCKOUT today because, boy howdy, Imogen and Tommy are not to be missed! This was one of those books where I wanted to race through it to find out what would happen around the next corner while at the same time wanting to slow down to a snail's pace so as to savor each perfectly placed word and emotion. I solved the dilemma by reading it twice.

KNOCKOUT is not only my favorite (so far) of the Hell's Belles series, it's one of my all-time favorite books by MacLean from any series. Filled with action, mystery, steamy chemistry, cross-class romance, swoony emotion, and all kinds of boom, it checked every one of my happy reader boxes.

One of MacLean's strengths is her characterization. Tommy and Imogen are beautifully developed with a multitude of layers that bring emotional depth, grumpy-sunshine goodness, and a whole lot of fun. I loved Imogen's boldness, her determination to bring justice to those easily forgotten, her fearless use of explosives, the chaos that swirls around her, and those deliciously pesky feelings she carries for Tommy. And let's talk about Tommy, a big, bearded, straight-arrow detective who can't get enough of Lady Imogen in spite of (because of?) the trouble that follows in her wake. So many conflicting emotions simmering in this good, honorable man. I loved the slow burn evolution of their relationship, the deep feelings on both sides that developed alongside the fiery chemistry that threatened to explode, but also overlaid with sigh-worthy sweetness. Gah, I loved these two so much!

The supporting cast, including the other Belles, significant others, and family members only add to the richness of the journey, offering diversity, conflict, support, humor, and a villain who deserves everything coming their way. I do love it when the bad guys are held accountable.

You could read KNOCKOUT on its own but for full flavor and appreciation of these characters and their journey, I recommend reading the series in order, beginning with BOMBSHELL then following with HEARTBREAKER. Next up is Duchess's story and after reading that cliffhanger at the end of KNOCKOUT, all I can say is bring it on!

ARC received from Avon. Fair and unbiased review.

Loved getting more from the Hells Bells. Love the fierce ladies. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Tommy and Imogen. Loved the protector side of Tommy. Loved how brazen Imogen is. With each book I love these stories more. Can’t wait for the next book.

Top Pick - 4.5 Stars

Imogen Loveless is no ordinary lady. She has a knack for experiments and explosives, which often have her coming into contact with Detective Thomas Peck. Tommy fought his way off the streets and into a promising career, but some assignments are too explosive. Tommy and Imogen have become entwined in a dangerous investigation, and the trouble is coming from within their worlds.

This is the third book in the Hell’s Belles series, which focuses on a female group of vigilantes and their underground network. I think it’s helpful to read the previous books, as Imogen and Tommy have already been introduced, and previous plot points are mentioned.

Lady Imogen is the chemical explosives expert of the Belles and Tommy is often frustrated to find her at “his” crime scenes, collecting her own evidence. There is a bit of a Miss Scarlett and The Duke (PBS series) feeling to the start of this book. The characters have wonderful banter throughout the book, and I loved how they all seemed to have clear voices that I could hear in my head as I was reading. There are great themes of friendship, being yourself, and hurt/comfort that work beautifully throughout the story.

I'd kinda been edging this ARC for so long(idk why I do this🙈) but I'm glad I finished reading it this weekend! Imogen and Tommy were amazing in this one and I literally couldn't put it down!

Lady Imogen Loveless(not related to the book but I've always found this last name funny😂) has always been considered peculiar because of her love for explosives and kinda-unsafe experiments💣😂 But not many do know that she's one of the Hell's Belles - a group of four vigilantes in London. On the other hand, Inspector Thomas Peck is a Scotland Yard detective who keeps running into Imogen at every crime scene and is equal parts exasperated and intrigued by her and the chaos that she brings😆 But it doesn't stop him from wanting to protect her as they end up working separately-but-together on an investigation 😂

Imogen was quite literally explosive! I loved how lively and fearless she was! She felt so real to me with the chaos that she'd bring and how she'd focus on different things during a conversation. I never knew what she'd think next and it was so funny at times😂 Tommy is kinda her opposite with his starchy energy but he's not too buttoned up either. The way he was so protective of her while still giving her all the space and freedom that she needed made me love him. At the same time, he feels unworthy because of their class difference and though I do understand why he felt that way, it was a bit repetitive at times. The chemistry between them was off the charts and I loved the steamy scenes!

My fave part of this series will always be the amazing bonds between the Hell's Belles and I've always loved their friendship! I found Imogen's brother quite interesting too! I love the mix of witty banter, humor, romance and a little chaos that all of the SM books have so this was fun to read! And after that ending, I'm super excited for Duchess' book!😍

This book is amazing! I absolutely loved it. The characters are just fun to read about-especially the women! The amount of girl power and kick a@& in this book is amazing.

I adore Imogen (FMC) and Thomas’
(MMC) relationship and characters. She is complete chaos (in a good way) and he is the complete opposite. He tries so hard to do the “right” thing by staying away from her and not giving into his temptations. Obviously, that doesn’t happen, and it’s a fun ride to see how they get there (pun definitely intended 😉).

This book has everything you could want in a historical romance: strong witty female characters, forbidden love, smart and funny banter, adventure, mystery, political intrigue, found family, and spice. Highly recommend this series. Honestly, I highly recommend any book that Sarah MacLean writes!

The story just keeps getting better and better with each book! I can’t wait for the next one-it’s gonna be goooood.

Detective Inspector Thomas Peck once again finds Imogen Loveless at the scene of a burned building, indicating another arson attack. Determined to find out what Imogen and the Hell’s Belles know, the inspector agrees to be her guard until Imogen’s brother can secure her a husband. The more time he spends with Imogen and helping her out of risky situations the more Thomas can’t deny their attraction. But will the opportunity of a promotion and being loyal to Scotland Yard prevent the two from ever having the chance at a relationship?

With Sarah MacLean’s trademark wit and humor this is another fantastic installment in the Hell’s Belles series where smart unapologetic women with strong convictions once again claim their own lives for themselves. A definite must read!

Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

The third book in the series, while it can be read as a standalone for the best experience I'd read the two previous books

CW: death of a parent (past), family tensions, violence, attempted murder, fatphobia

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f historical romance
-forced proximity
-rivals to lovers
-snowed in
-fat/curvy rep
-pining
-booming chemistry

I have been so hyped for this book and it delivered. Imogen and Tommy both have felt on the outside of their worlds. Imogen, not wanting marriage or anything else, but instead working with the Belle's sharing her brilliance and mastery with explosions. Tommy is a police inspector and the chemistry has been so clear between these two for so long.

I adored how Imogen saw what she wanted, and knew that Tommy just had to get there too. The banter, how these two danced around each other as Tommy overcame his emotional constipation because he was just as gone on Imogen it just took him a moment for his brain to catch up with his heart. The adventure, the suspense, the explosions, but the beating heart was these two falling for each other. Tommy protective and just wanting the world for Imogen. While he may have been her bodyguard it was her who saved him, again and again until they saved each other. How Tommy adored her curves, her found family, and would do anything for Imogen even expose his soft heart.

The brothel scene, them snowed in together and finally, finally combusting. Ooooof I adored this one, just a delicious read. Now I need Duchess' book.

Steam: 3.5

✔️ Opposites Attract
✔️ Forced Proximity
✔️ One Bed
✔️ He/She's So Great and I'm Not Good Enough

This book is about a fiesty bluestocking and explosives expert (Imogen) and a buttoned up Detective (Tommy) looking to get a promotion. Their differences don't end there: his family is loving and warm, hers is not. She's got an amazing group of friends, and he is a solitary guy. However, just like the best romances, they're drawn to each other and balance each other out. Part of what's keeping them apart problem is their class difference, sure, but a bigger part is that their goals and values diverge and are at odds.

I adored Imogen, full stop. She's smart and she knows who she is. It was a pleasure watching her come into her own and realizing that she is as fierce as her friends and is worthy of a love like theirs.

Aside from incredible characters, the plot of this book was terrific, centering women's issues that are as true today as they were back then (sadly) and the forces that are keeping things as they are (also true then and now).

I loved seeing Tommy begin to interpret the world differently because of Imogen and see the world as less black and white as he did in the beginning.

Add to that, this felt like the steamiest MacLean book. I'm not sure if it was because the pining and slow burn was top tier or because I have been dying for these two to get together for what seems like forever, or just the One Bed of it all, but regardless it was excellent and maybe my fave MacLovin scene, tying Nine Rules' gentleman's club tryst.

Highly recommend this book (5⭐️!), the Hell's Belles series, all of Sarah MacLean's books.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. The first half of the book seemed to drag on a little longer than necessary with a LOT of repeated references of his personal thoughts referring to her as "chaos" and multiples times that she got distracted thinking about his thighs. That being said, I enjoyed the "slow burn" of it all and the unique heroine that Imogen presents. The internal conflict of the societal differences seemed a bit repetitious by the end of the book, but perhaps that was the author's intent?

But, once again, an enjoyable, engaging romance from Sarah MacLean that leaves me waiting for the next installment.

I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. If you've ever thought that your books needed more pretty people walking away from explosions, than this is the book for you. This book is pure fan service. This has just about everything you could want in a good adventure romance: extreme competence, bad guys getting their due, so much kissing, pretty people in fantastic clothes doing their job, and a great cast of found family. While I did want to smack Tommy around a few times, this was an otherwise extremely satisfying romp of a book. I love Imogen sooo much, and I adored this book.
