Shari and Nathan have stars in their eyes - he is a stockbroker, she is a struggling student (waitressing to pay the bills) - they're newly engaged and can't wait for their bright future in Los Angeles, until something drastic derails all their plans.

While this brief synopsis may be intriguing, the execution was far from hitting a home run. The characters were annoying and bratty in their behaviours, the supporting "crime ring" characters were mafia wanna-be's, and the police were bumbling idiots. This would be more appealing as a comedy or errors than it was as a mystery/thriller.

This was definitely a different kind of story which kept me thoroughly entertained throughout! I will definitely look for other books by this author!

A young couple struggling financially turn to a fraudulent activity hoping to make tons of money.
They enter a world of danger and corruption.

I liked this book, the characters and the plot. But I wasn't 100% satisfied with the ending, which happened quite abruptly. I feel like there's not enough closure on the characters' stories.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This was a book that was difficult for me to engage with. It tells us the story of a young couple in love who are in need of some quick cash, and what they will do to get it. Soon, they find that their "easy money scheme" isn't so easy after all. I did not find that I related to the characters really on any level. In addition, the way the book was written seemed stilted or jerky. The language was very descriptive, and it was easy to visualize what was happening. Unfortunately, it didn't pull me in and just wasn't enough.

Shari and Nathan are taken on as partners by Bryce a local criminal who plays a deadly con game. They are taught how to identify the “rich” and cause the intended targets to crash into the back of their vehicle and then faking serious injuries to collect money from the insurance companies. As time goes on and Shari and Nathan are broke, Shari becomes more desperate and obsessed with making the stakes higher, but what is the price the three of them are willing to pay themselves??

How far would you go to get rich?
For sure an age old question that I’m always curious about and this book caught me with that catchline.
The main problem I had with the characters in this books was that they were be pretty 2D. Unimaginative, basic and just not depth what so ever. Shari & Nathan’s relationship was the definition of toxic and for sure made me root for them to get caught.
Overall a pretty basic book that you could’ve guessed how it ended from the get go. Not really worth the read.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy in exchange for honest review.

Nathan and Shari are boyfriend and girlfriend that live together in Los Angeles trying to grind a living out. They soon find themselves in need of making some more money and they find an opportunity in a unique way when Shari is involved in an automobile accident that really is not an accident but a setup to cause an accident. The premise of this book set it up to be a good storyline but unfortunately in my opinion the book did not deliver. The writing felt loose and rushed amongst other issues. I left some of this vague so i did not give the story away, but I will say one bit, I could not believe Shari would be surprised she lost her position at the restaurant. I know this is a work of fiction.

I think the premise of this book was good. I liked the storyline and how some people in need of money can be driven to making these kind of decisions. The story was fast-paced and I was engrossed in the story. However, the writing style was not for me. I did not like the interactions between Shari and Nathan. It did not seem genuine.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures"
WOW. This book came out of the gate at 100 miles per hour and did not slow down until it ended. Books that have such a strong beginning are *CHEFS KISS* amazing! I also really loved the multiple POVs of the main characters, as well. The build-up of Shari and Nathan's desperation was apparent and made the story that much more realistic. What would you do if you felt like you were losing everything?
