Unfortunately, I had to DNF All the Little Raindrops as I couldn't get past the first part of the book. The body horror elements were a bit too much for me, and it hindered my ability to connect with the story. While I can see that the book has an interesting premise, I personally couldn't move beyond that uncomfortable section.
Book Review: “All the Little Raindrops” by Mia Sheridan
“All the Little Raindrops” by Mia Sheridan is a compelling and emotional journey that digs deep into themes of trauma, healing, resilience, and love. Sheridan, known for her poignant writing and ability to handle complex characters, brings us a story that is both heart-wrenching and hopeful.
The novel follows the story of Carson, a man scarred by a childhood marred with trauma, and Alice, a woman whose own life has been shadowed by pain and hardship. When their paths cross, they begin to find comfort and understanding in each other, forming a bond that is as fragile as it is intense. Sheridan does an incredible job of portraying the impact of past traumas, not only on the individual but also on those who try to love and support them. Both characters are richly developed, with raw, vulnerable traits that make them feel real and relatable.
One of the standout aspects of the novel is Sheridan’s lyrical writing style. Her descriptions are often poetic, making the setting and emotions vivid and immersive. The title itself, “All the Little Raindrops,” is a beautiful metaphor that Sheridan threads throughout the book, symbolizing the gradual healing process — like tiny raindrops accumulating to form something substantial. Each chapter feels like a small step in Carson and Alice’s journey toward finding solace and love, despite the shadows of their pasts.
The pacing is thoughtful, with Sheridan taking time to build trust between the characters, creating a slow-burn romance that feels genuine and earned. The book doesn’t shy away from tough issues; it addresses mental health, abuse, and recovery with sensitivity and respect. Sheridan allows her characters to experience setbacks and growth in a way that feels organic, showing that healing is not a linear process but rather a path filled with both triumphs and struggles.
While the story is heavy in places, there are moments of lightness and humor that balance it well. Supporting characters add depth to the narrative, serving as both challenges and sources of comfort for Carson and Alice. By the end, the reader is left with a sense of closure and optimism, appreciating that love can be a powerful force for healing, even when the scars run deep.
Verdict: “All the Little Raindrops” is a beautifully crafted novel that will resonate with readers who appreciate emotional, character-driven stories about love and redemption. Mia Sheridan has once again proven her talent for writing about the resilience of the human spirit and the healing power of love. This book is a powerful reminder that even after the darkest storms, hope and light can emerge, one raindrop at a time.

When I saw this story on NetGalley's Read Now section, I was excited to read it as I know Mia Sheridan is a great author but I'm excited to read her as a thriller instead of a romance. Not knowing what I was going into, I can't emphasize enough that this book starts out DARK in full capital letters. I started reading this while on vacation and had to take a couple of breaks and read some fun joyous stories because the way this starts... WOAH. Be prepared - lots of DNFs I've seen because of this start.
During their senior year in high school, Noelle Meyer and Evan Sinclair are abducted and held captive by a monster. Not knowing who took them or why, they can only rely on their connection that they know of; Evan's Dad killed Noelle's Mom and got away with it but the death was ruled an accident destroying the family. During this captivity, whomever has them in captivity is doing unspeakable things to each of them and are livestreaming the experiences to their 'clients' who pay to see and witness things occur to these captives. Despite planning their own escape and breaking out, Noelle and Evan are linked together for the rest of their life weather they wanted to or not.
Years later, Evan is working as a private investigator and has revisited his and Noelle's abduction as he identifies that it may still be going on and wants to know who kidnapped them and why. Reconnecting with Noelle, they begin to realize that "The Collector" (a mysterious man who may also be connected to their abduction) may be the key to unlocking these answers. Can these two unravel what happened to them and why? Can these two rescue those who are still being imprisoned? What was the connection between the two of them being taken together so long ago?
This story was not at all what I was expecting in full transparency especially given that all I've read Mia Sheridan was a romance that was sweet and kind. I will struggle to recommend this as a story to folks because it was so dark and I wanted more out of the story at times. The rating was high on this because It was a GOOD thriller and romantic entanglements and messy discovery of their history and resolving the mystery but it did slow down after the chaos in the beginning so once you make it through that it isn't nearly dark throughout the rest (although... it's still slightly dark).
Thanks to NetGalley and Mia Sheridan in collaboration with Montlake, for providing me with a copy so that I could provide an honest review prior to the publish date (despite my inability to publish and read this review prior to release - Life gets in the way sometimes)!
This book kicked off from word one, and NEVER STOPPED. I was fully in it from page one. The developed trust and encouragement between Even and Noelle was interesting to experience - they should by all accounts HATE each other. But, their shared experience added an extra layer to their relationship and it was so fun to follow this journey from captivity to freedom of body and mind.
Thank you for allowing me to read this book.
I honestly did not realize how intense this read would be, I had to take many breaks to get through it. I have read many Mia Sheridan books so this one took me by surprise. Overall, I can appreciate the work but if I am being honest it was a little too much for my taste. Again, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read All the Little Raindrops.
Thank you Montlake, Mia Sheridan, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this one but boy was it a crazy ride. Please not that there are a lot of potential triggers so please prepare for that beforehand.
Noelle wakes up locked in a cage in a dark room and is soon joined by who she comes to realize is Evan, a boy she goes to school with. Their families have a complicated history, but there is so much more to the story than the two young kids realize.
Noelle and Evan’s story is complicated and difficult to read through, but overall an enjoyable one to read. There were plenty of twists and turns in this book that keep your attention and make you want to continue reading. Overall I I highly recommend this book and I’m excited to read more of Mia Sheridan’s work!
All the Little Raindrops by Mia Sheridan is such a great read!! It was completely unexpected! My jaw was permanently on the floor.. Mia Sheridan is a genius! I love this author and her books get more complex but are so fulfilling.
I’m absolutely loving all of Mia’s thrillers. At this point, I will read anything that Mia writes, but since I’ve been on a thriller binge, I find the unknown quite thrilling.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Mia. After all, she is the author of my all time favorite book.
Mia Sheridan’s "All the Little Raindrops" is a poignant and beautifully crafted novel that explores the delicate interplay between love, loss, and healing. The book delicately balances heartache with hope, creating a resonant and impactful reading experience. "All the Little Raindrops" is a moving and inspirational story that will stay with readers long after the final page, making it a must-read for those who appreciate emotionally charged fiction.
Wow. I could not, would not put this book down … There are so many twists and turns to this story… A must-read for those who love thrillers with so many turns, you have no idea where you are.
Very suspenseful, kept me reading and eager to find out how all the different layers were connected. However, the beginning was a bit more disturbing than I thought was necessary.
Eek, gross no thank you sorry. This was not the book for me and in my humble opinion, was not well written to boot.
This psychological thriller is not for the faint of heart. It tells the dark, compelling story of the abduction of two teenagers and gives a peek into the underbelly of the dark web where rich powerful people can watch vile, violent acts for a price. It was a lot! But I read it until 3 in the morning because I had to know the ending. It’s unputdownable!
Admittedly, a big Mia Sheridan fan. I love how she can write dark and disturbing as well as write a good romance.
This was dark, very dark, It would make a great thriller movie. There are twist that I didn't see coming. Trigger warning are there for a reason on this one.
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!
This wasn't my favorite read. It starts off brutally graphic and disturbing. It really had me on edge. I was stuck with everything happening from the crime scenes to the investigation aspect. I feel that the story started on a high note, but slowly simmered off. The romance was nice, with surprises along the way.
I loved the premise for this book and the writing was really immediate. I loved these two characters and how they were pulled together. This was a good thriller!
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. It was very unique and gave me Saw vibes. I liked the romance aspect and I loved the collectors perspective. I liked that he was trying to help them escape. It kept it interesting and I liked that they were not in the cages for the whole book. I loved reading the after part, and I loved that the ending was tied up with a nice bow. It was a dark and twisty read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I’m glad that I read I will say though it did feel really long and there were parts that were a little slow but overall this was an interesting book
Amazing book!
I was thoroughly engaged throughout this book and I didn't want to put it down! The author captured my attention from the get go! Five stars from me :)
