I feel like I've read a lot of similar books this year, the group of college friends either all sleeping with each other or wanting to, and everyone obsessed with one particular girl. Mia is that girl in this story, and I just didn't see the draw. We weren't given any kind of look into what makes everyone so in love with Mia. We don't get a glimpse into any of the characters, besides Agnes. The plot was interesting, though not all that original, but the characters were pretty one-note and read like character stereotypes. Very much a one dimensional Breakfast Club. Which brings me to my second issue, all those movie references. Ugggh I get that they met in a theater class or whatever, but the constant movie references became annoying, and didn't even make any sense some of the time. All in all, Sleeping With Friends is an easy read, and entertaining enough. I recommend it to readers who enjoy whodunit stories, and books with Pop culture/movie references.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the e-ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book before its release. I really loved this one. I am a huge fan of murder mysteries/whodunnits and Sleeping With Friends had everything I love. The characters were well written and fleshed out. The twist was satisfying. It was quirky at times which I thought was done well. Overall, I would recommend it. Rounding up from 4.5 stars.

It is a captivating and darkly humorous novel that kept me engaged from start to finish. The protagonist, Mia Sinclair-Kroner, wakes from a coma with only memories of movies she loves, setting the stage for a thrilling exploration of her past and the people in her life. Schultz skillfully weaves a web of old tensions and new suspicions, immersing readers in a world of shared history and hidden agendas. The unique characters are well-developed, and their interactions add depth and intrigue to the story. As the plot unfolds, the author expertly blends elements of mystery and suspense with a touch of humor, making for an enjoyable and memorable read. I found myself rooting for Mia and eagerly turning the pages to uncover the truth behind her accident. Schultz's writing style is both realistic and captivating, drawing readers into the narrative and keeping them invested until the very end. This book is a highly recommended novel that will leave you wanting more.

I enjoyed that this book didn't drag out the mystery and repeat information over and over. The characters were interesting, you wanted to know more about them. I liked that I didn't figure out who did it until pretty much the reveal. This is a quick, fun read if you enjoy a good mystery.

This book was just not as good as I thought it would be.

The pacing was off. The beginning felt slapdash and slow, like just a bunch of notes smooshed together then not fleshed out. I found the details and transitions lacking. I was often confused and left wondering what to imagine. The description of the surroundings took too long to unfold.

The middle I enjoyed quite a lot, however around the 75% mark I found myself not itching to pick it back up anymore… I’m not really sure why. Then when I did pick it up to finish the end felt rushed and unrealistic.

I love a locked door mystery, Clue is my favorite movie of all time and this had very Clue-like vibes or Glass Onion ones. However this one just wasn’t shocking enough. There were a few too many movie references for me. I get why they were there but sometimes it was a bit overkill. I think this book just needs a bit more polish in my opinion. Maybe 100 more pages of detail and 50 less movie references. 😂

If you love locked door mysteries and movies it’s worth a try for sure. Maybe you’ll like it more than I did.

A group of friends spend a weekend together in attempt to help one of their friend regain her memory after a head injury. As time goes on, it becomes clear that her accident may not have been an accident.
This was a fun mystery read with multiple POVs that were nicely executed. It did start off a little shaky, but then as your learned more about each character and their past, it got interesting!
Classic whodunnit read!

This was such a fun mystery novel, I loved The Group and learning about all the different personalities and secrets. I also loved the film/screenplay film and style of this which added an extra layer of uniqueness and charm to all of this. I read this all in one sitting and couldn't put it down, I loved every part of this from the characters to writing style and the premise (the daunting idea of losing your memories). I highly recommend to any mystery fans or fans of dark academia style.

Mia Sinclair seems like she has it all. A group of devoted college friends, a wealthy husband, and what appears to be a picture perfect life. But when she survives a severe head injury, she remembers no one. Not her close friends, or even her own husband. Her friends come to stay with Mia, hoping to jog her memories with stories of all that they have shared. But it seems someone knows more about this accident than they are divulging. Did someone have a reason to want to hurt Mia and with her limited memories, could someone be there now to finish what they started?
First off, what a terrifying thought. To have zero memories of those who say they love and care for you. Anyone of these people could be guilty, and it was fun trying to figure out who could’ve had a reason to want Mia dead. I did not figure this one out, and I was surprised by the whodunnit and why. The relationships each character had with Mia and each other kept me intrigued and entertained. There was one incident( just one!) that happened that I wasn’t sure if I should be horrified or laugh at how this group handled it.
The pages seemed to flip themselves on my Kindle, and I read this while enjoying a beautiful day outside in my garden.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

It’s always hard to say this about a mystery novel but it was fun. I like books that are about people I feel like I’d might know and artsty, angsty city dwellers are a welcome change from the endless cul de sac soccer mom settings.

I felt like there were couple missteps. The stepson character was pretty pointless and I could never figure out the timeline of any events once they were in the house. Did minutes pass? Hours? Sometimes it was hard to tell if two events were happening at the same time or if they happen one after another or hours apart. There were a lot of people and moving pieces.

Overall, I liked it.
I did check out her older books and look forward to reading more by this author!

3.5 rounded up to 4! A group of college friends spend a weekend at a Connecticut mansion in an attempt to help Mia, their group leader, regain her memories after a head injury. As the weekend unfolds, it becomes clear that someone in the house might have a vested interest in Mia never remembering anything.

I had so much fun with this book, more than I even expected to! I'll admit it was a little bit of a shaky start, as I'm not normally a fan of authors dropping "time sensitive" pop culture references to recent current events and there were a few in the first couple chapters that made me raise an eyebrow. However, I'm very glad I kept going as this is exactly the kind of compelling locked-door mystery that I've been craving lately. I found the characters to be fun and interesting, and I enjoyed their dynamic and each of their relationships with Mia. There was enough difference in voice between the characters that I didn't feel like I couldn't tell them apart (a common issue with multi-POV novels).

I do think the middle dragged a little bit for me and some of the specific plot beats were a bit over the top silly (the caterers and the decision Agnes makes at the end about Zoey's cooler...), but this book made up for it for me by leaning into the bantery dialogue and absurd situations enough that I found it kind of charming. Thanks to Thomas & Mercer for the Arc!
