When Emma and her husband go to stay at her childhood home, the community isn’t happy. The murder of her parents is still fresh in their minds, even though her and her sisters left after.
I love stories with sisters so I liked this one, especially once the sisters got together and you got to know them individually. This was one that I definitely stuck with because I HAD to know who did it. I was definitely surprised with some twists. Be aware there are some hard to read scenes in the past that deal with child abuse.
“The secrets still hidden within the walls of the house that was drawing them, inescapably, home.”
No One Can Know comes out 1/23.

I enjoyed the author’s last book, so I was happy to see she had another one coming out so soon. I like that her characters had flaws, and there were plenty to be found with the Palmer sisters. The book’s POV was anchored by middle sister Emma, who was believed to have killed their parents when she was a teenager.
The book starts off with Emma as an adult, married and expecting a baby. Her husband has caused them financial struggles, so they head back to her hometown to stay in her childhood home aka the scene of the crime. The POV varies between then and now for mainly Emma but also includes those of her sisters Juliette and Daphne. I never really knew where the story was going, which I always like in a thriller. And it wrapped everything up rather nicely, which is a plus for me as well.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Whewww this was the perfect definition of psychological thriller filled with family betrayal! The whodunit theme really was intense, I was intrigued right from the beginning! I enjoyed the dual POV and past/present timeline. Our FMC, Emma has kept her past a total secret from her husband, but she’s forced to tell him the truth when they must return to her childhood home which is where her parents were murdered. The local community believes Emma was the murderer. All in all, I enjoyed the rollercoaster of chaos this book took me on!

I really enjoyed this twisty ride! This is my second book by the author and I will be on the hunt for more. I loved the premise, and really liked having different character point of views throughout the book. I did not predict the twists at the end which always makes me love a book more. This is a solid 4 star super twisty physiological thriller that I can’t wait to recommend!

This book hooked me from the beginning! The plot of “girl returns to small town, years old mystery resurfaces/gets solved” can be repetitive, but this one was DIFFERENT. This is a unique story which I would definitely recommend.
Read if you are in the mood for: family betrayals, dual POV, past & present timelines, a lot to keep track of
Emma has kept a lot of secrets from her husband, but she’s forced to reveal the truth when they must return to her childhood home. The place where her parents were murdered, and where the locals believe her to be the killer.
My reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that it was one of those books that constantly had to reveal a new secret. Oh, you think this is the reveal? No, this is the reveal. Oh wait, you fell for that? Wrong! It’s this. But actually, no, it’s this. It gets tiring. And also, my assumption from the beginning was the *final* reveal, so I guessed it early on. Still a great read!!
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC!

3.5/5 stars
This book has a lot of twists and turns and will keep you wanting more.
This is told from the perspectives of Emma and her sisters Juliette/JJ and Daphne. We get both “now” and “then” with the story being told quite a bit out of order.
I didn’t love the ending. It felt too convoluted for me. I get what happened, but it felt like I got led in circles.
Overall, a decent little whodunnit with unreliable narrators and suspicion all around.

This is the 1st book ive rrad by this author and i am so glad i did! It takes a lot to have what i consider a amazing book and im happy to say this is 1. This book kept me on the edge of my seat thinking i knew the answers but nope! I loved all of the characters and the plots and twists and turns. Love this book and will definately read more from this author!!!!

THOUGHTS:
I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
As I always say — check you trigger warnings before reading if you are sensitive to anything. I am a Kate Alice Marshall fanatic and I think that more people need to read her work. Beautiful work, beautiful writing and this one was no different. I love her writing style and this was magnificent. You literally have no idea how the book will end, you are looking at everybody throughout the entire book and once you hit that last page your mind is blown. Multiple POV which is one of my favorite things as well as different timelines. All the best things about a mystery rolled into one book.

4 Stars!! This was my second book by Kate Alice Marshall and like What Lies in the Woods, I really enjoyed it! No One Can Know follows three sisters as they reunite (not necessarily by choice) 14 years after they find their parents both dead in their family home. Marshall writes this from multiple perspectives complete with flashbacks to the night of the murders which definitely added to the character development. The ending was a bit predictable but I didn't see some of the twists coming which is a sign of a good thriller. Thank you to Flatiron Books for the ARC!

I didn't really know what to expect starting this book. I had previously read What Lies In the Woods, which I enjoyed, but I hadn't heard about this novel when I received a pre-release copy.
Oh boy, did it dazzle me! A fantastic thriller/mystery story that kept me guessing the entire time, and I didn't see the resolution coming at all
Once I started it, I read through it quickly because I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's rare a book can make me feel fully invested in its characters - whether I love them or hate them - but I found myself really caring about the three sisters at the core of the main conflict - the murder of their parents - and growing to despise other characters, either in the present-day story or the flashbacks to the sisters' childhood.
Definitely recommended!

Three sisters. Two murdered parents. One unsolved mystery.
Emma, Juliette, and Daphne were teenagers when their parents were discovered brutally murdered inside their home. After deciding on a story and evading questions from local police, the sisters' bonds fractured and each set off on their own paths to try to leave the past in the past.
Eventually, they are forced back together as the past becomes the present. The book's narration switches focus and jumps between THEN and NOW, simultaneously adding more mystery and more context with each new piece of information. The perspectives of the various characters create a compelling story and amp up the pace.
I raced to the end of this one!
Overall: 4 stars

I was thrilled to be approved for this ARC after absolutely loving What Lies in the Woods by Marshall, and I loved this one just as much!
Sisters Emma, Daphne, and Juliette were teenagers when their parents were murdered at home. Emma was the primary suspect, as she was known for fighting with her parents and gossip said she had an older boyfriend. In the present day, Emma and her husband are forced to move back into the house after he lose his job. The townspeople are less than welcoming, vandalizing the property when they learn that Emma has returned. The police aren’t much help either, and when another body turns up their focus once again turns to Emma. She and her sisters are forced to re-examine the past and finally talk about their terrible night.
The story is told in the POV of all three sisters, with a dual timeline going back to the night of the murder. I truly could not figure out what happened that night until the very end, as there were so many secrets and lies to wade through. Plenty of twists muddy the waters, leaving me flipping pages late into the night.
The three sisters are tough to get a read on and are written incredibly well. Their backstory is not an easy one, and I felt a lot of sympathy for the way they felt trapped and the different ways they fought against it. The family dynamics were so complicated and intense.
This is a slow burn that is perfectly paced, sprinkling just enough information at a time to leave the reader wanting more. The overall atmosphere just feels dark and haunted throughout, making this a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this arc!
Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me. I had high hopes, because I loved the author’s previous novel, but this one just didn’t live up to the expectations I had. I could not get invested in the story and I didn’t care for any of the characters. In fact, they all annoyed me. This made it hard for me to relate to them or really care about what was happening in their lives and the story. I did like the dual timeline and multiple POV though. This helped break things up a bit and it was interesting to read from the different perspectives.
I will say that sometimes domestic thrillers don’t sit well with me in general, so that very well be the issue in my case! Just not my cup of tea, but it seems like many other people loved it! I would still read more from this author in the future, because I did love her first novel so much!

Thank you NetGalley and Flatiron Books for this ARC. This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
Childhood can be tough even when your parents aren’t overbearing and closet abusive. Perfect lives lead to not so perfect secrets and all things come to light in time.
After the murder of their parents these three sisters are left to start over on different paths without one another. These paths lead to different lives and expectations. Some people become who they were meant to be and others stay hidden not seeing their potential. Now adults thrown back together to sort out the events of that night who will flourish and who will whither.
Will old secrets turn into new secrets or will there finally be the answers and closure everyone deserves. Family first, family last, and above all family secrets.

If you are looking for a good thriller for October, this is a great one to pick up. I really enjoyed this a lot. The twists, the characters, the story.. it was all wonderful.

This was my first book from Kate Alice Marshall and it was great!
I really enjoyed all the twists, the secrets, family issues and drama.
I couldn’t figure it out who the murder was, it was so intriguing and suspenseful, it was a page turning and I always wanted more.
I am sure this author will be an auto buy for me from now on.

*3.5 stars rounded down*
Three sisters are split apart on the night their parents are murdered. Over a decade later, the sister who took most of the heat from the investigation returns to the scene of the crime, knocking over a domino that will bring them all back together, and perhaps the case to rest for good.
***
A slow-burn thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. Marshall does a great job of building not only suspense, but the personalities of the three sisters, even if Emma is the main focus.
The author really knows how to pace and plot a story. Little nuggets here and there really tied the whole thing together in the end.
By the end, however, I was ready for it to end. I had already gleended much of what had happened in terms of the shady business dealings. I was ready for the climax, but when it came it felt a little sloppy to me. It felt out of the character for the "big bad" in this case to all of a sudden lash out so aggressively.
That being said, I finished this quickly, would recommend, and look forward to reading Marshall's next book.

No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall is a twisty read that will have you guessing until the end.
To protect her sisters, Emma lied and kept secrets about her parent’s murders. But her family loyalty meant she was nearly convicted for their murders. Years later, she’s forced to return to the family home with her husband.
When Emma and Nathan begin cleaning the house, her past creates fissures in their relationship. As does the sudden reappearance of her estranged sisters.
Some secrets are better left forgotten and her sisters are watching.
While I loved the story, the multiple perspectives and timelines this book felt a little too twisty. Like the author couldn’t decide how she actually wanted the story resolved. Additionally, the pace of the book was a bit off. I raced through 3/4 but then dragged myself to the end.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Thank you NetGalley and Flatiron Books for the ARC.

So this was a crazy ride....
This one stars Emma and her husband who have fallen on hard times. He has just lost his job, they recently purchased a house they now can't afford, and to top it off she is now pregnant. So she lets him know that she, along with her two sisters, own her parent's old house. So with their new hardship they make plans to live there temporarily. But..... It's a murder house! lol. Both her parent's were murdered there years ago and Emma was the prime suspect. She forgot to mention that little fact to her husband.
What follows is a VERY twisty yarn that has two timelines: Then and Now with Emma and her three sisters as it goes back and forth. Emma is shunned in the town where they move as everyone remembers that she was accused of murdering her parents.
So let's talk about plot twists a little....... I do love them but maybe sometimes you go overboard? Literally every chapter in this book ends either in a plot twist or some sort of misdirection. With the short chapters I felt I was getting slammed with them.
The perfect is example is a football game that goes back and forth. Soon you get to the point where you say, "Ok, whoever has the ball last is winning this game" With this book it's, "Ok, whoever gets the last chapter is the murderer." Sometimes I felt like just skipping to the end.
It's still a very well written book. I enjoyed it and think it's best on the beach where you turn off your brain. It moves too fast to take it seriously.
I really appreciate Flatiron books for giving me the opportunity to read this book for free for a honest review and it has a publication date of January 23, 2024

No One Can Know is a dark, twisty thriller that kept me on glued to the pages. The book is about a a family of three girls who when they were young, experienced their parents being murdered. The local cops all thought the middle child, Emma killed her parents but were never able to prove it. Fast forward 10+ years and Emma and her husband have to move back into the house she grew up in and face her past. The sisters, who have all been estranged since the murders, all now must face their past. We get multiple POV’s from each sister, plus we alternate between the past and present. We get bits and pieces of what happened the night of the murders, but even with the hints there are some great twists that I never saw coming! This book really reminded me of “Dark Places” by Gillian Flynn. A thriller with very complicated familiar relationships and twists that you won’t see coming.
