I really enjoyed Marshall's last book, so picking up No One Can Know was a no brainer. Overall, I liked this story- the complicated dynamics amongst sisters was compelling. I did enjoy seeing the evolution of the personality of each girl based on their difficult upbringing. From a plot perspective, there were some portions of this novel that dragged out- I wish it was shorter. Overall, solid read, but I did like her previous work better.
Thank you to Flatiron Books, and NetGalley for an eARC of No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall.
I enjoyed this thrilling story about three sisters and a past double murder of their parents and their woven secrets. The story starts with Emma and her husband that come into financial trouble and need to move into Emma's childhood home, the location of her parents murder. Once they return the house, the past and present collide to keep you guessing as the secrets are revealed.
The story has multiple POV and time jumps from past to present which keeps you guessing until the last page.
Very solid thriller that kept you guessing the entire time. I liked the creepy old house setting and found this book very entertaining. I kept coming up with theories, but was still shocked!
This book was great! Thank you to #Netgalley for the ARC. I really enjoyed the plot of this book, it was well done, and everytime I thought I knew the answers, there was more to uncover.
Solid thriller that will take the reader on a wild ride. I loved the characters and the twists and turns in this one.

I was so excited to get a copy of this book! I loved What Lies In the Woods so I had pretty high expectations for this book. It fell a little flat for me, but I still enjoyed reading it.
Some things I liked:
- The dynamic characters - these characters grew so much from their initial appearance. It was great to track their changes and note how different they were from their childhood up until the end of the story.
- The constant shift of focus on the murderer - I had a niggling feeling who it was, but honestly there were so many clues to the teary, anyone and everyone was a suspect. This is the kind of book to keep you guessing throughout.
Some things I didn’t like:
The pacing - This wasn’t a super long book but it felt slow to me. It dragged a bit and there was so much animosity towards the parents, I just wanted to find out who killed them.
The main character - yeah she has been through some ish, but girl GET IT TOGETHER!!! She was pretty unrelatable to me which I think is why I struggled so much with this one.
Overall I enjoyed the book and will read KAM again when she releases another!
3 out of 5 stars!
A thrilling mystery with lots of twists and turns, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Check this one out if you like family drama and a hard to guess ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review..
This was a fantastic whodunnit, with a whole lot of twists! It had me guessing all the way to the very end, and I loved every minute of it. The multiple POVs and timelines were woven together well, and I really liked how it all came together in the end.
A really great story with plenty of twists and turns and secrets that I never saw coming and just could not stop reading. Sibling bonds can really cause you to do crazy things.
A compelling page-turner, until the third act.
Emma's life is falling apart. When she returns home from finding out about a surprise pregnancy, she learns her husband has been laid off, and the $10,000 they've put down as earnest money for a new home is gone. There's only one option left for the couple, to return to the home where her parents were murdered. There's only one problem, her husband doesn't know that, nor that Emma spent most of the past 14 years as the primary suspect in the case.
Alternately told between then and now, and by Emma and her two sisters, Juliette and Daphne, the first 2/3 of the book proves to be a compelling page-turner, as you start to uncover pieces of what led to the murders. The parents aren't good people, but it turns out they might have been involved in far more troubling things than the abuse and control they exerted over their daughters. Everyone is a suspect and no one seems to be telling the full truth.
The challenge is in the book's final third, which I won't spoil. Suffice to say, there are so many twists that the ending becomes convoluted. It ends up weakening what is otherwise a very strong book.

I love books that start out with domestic secrets and this book sucked me right in. It was entertaining and kept me intrigued. The middle was a bit slow, but the writing style is superb.
I love this author. Perfect for a quick weekend read. There's no many levels and characters and I loved all the sisters' POVs
Very fun
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Receiving an advanced copy was a delightful surprise. I believe both existing fans and newcomers will find it equally enjoyable.
Three sisters, two murders, and too many secrets to count. Emma has a complicated past but hasn’t told her husband much about it. When things aren’t looking good financially, Emma confesses that she has her deceased parents' house; where her parents were murdered. As Emma returns to her old house and starts to reconnect with her sisters, the things they have left unspoken all these years have put them in danger again.
Much like in What Lies in the Woods, a lot relied on the teenage girl thought processes in this one. I do think Marshall’s experience as a YA author helps her capture that aspect very well and it serves as a great way to switch to the adult thriller genre. The storyline held my attention and I was curious to figure out how things would all connect. I also enjoyed her exploration of family ties and found this to be an entertaining read.
Thank you so much to Flatiron Books for the ARC of this one!
3.5 stars rounding up ⭐️
Daphne, Juliette (JJ), and Emma are three sisters with a secretive past. Both of their parents were murdered and Emma was the primary murder suspect. With no evidence to put her away, Emma moves away and on with her life. Years later, now married and pregnant and in financial trouble, Emma is forced to move back into her childhood home where her parents were murdered and confront the past allegations.
This book felt like a thriller I’ve read before, very similar vibes to what lies in the woods. Nothing special, but interesting enough to keep reading and wondering who done It. I enjoyed the dynamic of the 3 sisters, all of them were so different. I really liked Emma and felt bad for her and just wanted her to stand up for herself for once. The end has a lot of twists and turns and I’m honestly not sure what to believe actually happened at this point lol
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this novel. Check It out, available now.
Great who-dun-it that will keep you guessing until the end. I went between reading and listening to the audiobook and I loved both options. There are so many red-herrings in this book that you won’t know what to think. At some point, I suspected everyone. 3 sisters, both parents murdered, who did it 🤷♀️
****Many thanks to Flatiron Books and NetGalley for my gifted ebook! Also thank you to Flatiron Books for my giveaway win #chilledtotheend.
The parents of Emma, Juliette and Daphne, were murdered fourteen years ago. Emma was suspected to be the killer, but all of the sisters were carrying secrets from that day.
I went into this one with higher expectations than I should have. I liked the premise here but saw everything coming and didn't feel surprised when 'reveals' started happening, even though it was one of those 'or this happened' types. It was just a meh read for me.
This was one of my favorite thrillers of the year so far. I really enjoyed the plot of this book and all of the twists and turns of it. The characters kept me on the edge of my seat, I didn’t know who to trust or who to root for. It was an exhilarating ride!
This books was good. I didn't love it but still glad I read it. I think it was the characters. I couldn't connect with most of them. I do like books with different points of view and I think that is what kept me going with this one.
Kept you guessing. Emma carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, all stemming from a lack of communication. I was hooked from the beginning and kept changing my mind on what I thought happened, which for me always makes a great read. No One Can Know kept me guessing throughout the whole story. Alice kept me hooked throughout the story, which can be difficult for me when reading thrillers.
