Growing up, I was the introverted kid into books and my rocks. When my parents divorced, my father got me a rock tumbler so I could look forward to my weekend visits to see how much the rocks changed since the last time I saw them. We would also go fossil hunting along the Oregon coast, so this particular story connected with me as a mother. I loved finding a way to share my love of geology with my son in a way that gave us a magical twist by using sound effects and music. This book will be in rotation for a long while!
Nerdy Babies Unite. This one was perfect. The narrator was kind and read at a great pace. The additional child's voice and sounds were a great bonus. This book felt like it told a story from beginning to end and with a lot of detail. I would highly recommend this for children who like to be outside. Stay Curious!
Thanks NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
This is very cute and the narration is great. However, I feel that the audience that might love this the most won't appreciate being called "babies". Perfect for preschoolers 3+, maybe not babies. I am far more likely to purchase the board book for my library vs. the audiobook version.
I really liked the narrator of this book. It had a lot of factual information it. As an audiobook, I think it would need to be used with the actual book for youngsters to be engaged. I do not know that they would be engaged by audio alone.
My son LOVED this book. It kept his interest and prompted him to ask questions. Highly recommend this series!!
This audio tells you alot about rocks how they formed and what get trapped in them and what you might see if they break apart even in 6 minutes, I think kids around 3 to 6 would find this a fun fact interesting book. I would listen to this with your children in the car to thank you netgalley
This six minute audiobook was engaging and well produced. The sound effects really kept my interest and I enjoyed the child narrator's comments.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced audiobook download in exchange for my honest review.

I envisioned a scene with lots of rocks, rocks of all kinds, being passed around as the narration played. This one seemed a bit heavy on the big words, words many only learned in science class like sedimentary and metamorphic, so does seem to require a bit more hands-on, which can spur comparison for likes and differences, texture, and such. Obviously this one isn't aimed at babies, so I'm assuming the target audience is more kindergarten or early elementary although, quite frankly, some of the material and details could serve as a great refreshed for just about any age.
I absolutely love the narration, which utilizes children's voices to ask questions and inject comments. That should make it all the more relatable to young listeners. We all like to hear/see someone who reminds us of ourselves. The book also emphasizes that it's good to ask questions. To be curious. That's how we learn, so a good thing to emphasize. Who knows, some budding scientists may be inspired by this book/series. Thanks #NetGalley #MacmillanAudio #MacmillanYoungListeners and #RoaringBrookPress for this delightful series. It's nice to be taken back to that childhood stage or wonder.
This is a great Nonfiction children’s book with a ton of information on rocks. The audiobook was well read, with great audio details such as music and kids voices. It kept my 4 year old and 6 year old engaged the whole time.
We listened at 1x speed which was perfect for the littles. Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this advanced audio copy.
This is a cute little audiobook, that gives a good overview about how different types of rocks are formed. I appreciated that child narrators, since that helps keep younger kids engaged. I imagine I will listen to this many times.
Six minutes is hardly enough time to learn about rocks, but this amused. I enjoyed the child's voice that kept chiming in.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.
My kids thought this was a fun little audiobook and enjoyed listening to it with their breakfast. I think there could be a little more excitement and such to make it draw the kids in and keep their attention a little better though.
I absolutely love this series. The narrators are fantastic and make everything easy to digest. I love that childs voices are added in too. This is an awesome way to introduce kids to scientific topics. I found this one about rocks to actually be pretty fascinating because I forgot a lot of the information that I learned in school. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This short audiobook about rocks was really educational. My toddler loved learning so many different facts. He was engaged the entire time and asked for more books at the end. This audiobook was also a great opportunity for my son to ask more questions about rocks. Definitely recommend for young children.
Nerdy Babies on audio are great, quick audiobooks for me to play for my kindergartner on quick trips in the car to keep him entertained. It peaks his interest and he asks more questions about the topics he listened to.
I love the addition of sounds and children's voices instead of it being a solo narrator. It adds a bit of whimsy and keeps it from just being an information dump.

This audiobook is really fun. I loved the addition of children's voices, it makes it more exciting for young children to hear voices like theirs. I did think the narrator could have had more of a playful voice. It felt a little too stiff for a children's audiobook, I don't think it would hold the attention of children enough.
The book itself is great, super informative in a way young children can start to understand.
The style of these audiobooks is adorable, and the format of having kids ask questions to participate will resonate with children. I like the background music and the content. I really like that they stress how great it is to ask questions and be curious. Sparking scientific curiosity is a great thing! Just like the others in the series, it seems too short for any purpose I can think of. It seems like it wouldn't be long enough for car rides or bedtimes.
Cute book that gave a ton of facts about rocks. I am excited to check out the rest of the series.
4 stars
Nerdy Babies: Rocks (Audiobook) is a lot of fun! The book itself is filled with fun and simple descriptions of the rock cycle and the layers of the earth, while still being informative, and including all of the big long words for the types of rocks (sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous). The audiobook is quick with an engaging narrator, and there are even kids involved to voice the dialogue, which makes it extra special.
