"Our Last Summer" by Jennifer Joyce is a heart-warming and enchanting tale of second chances and the power of love.

Elodie Parker returns to her hometown of Little Heaton after four years away, facing her little sister's upcoming wedding and the ghosts of her past. Among them is Tomasz, the love of her life whom she left behind. But as Elodie boards a flight back home, a magical twist throws her into the past, allowing her to relive the day she first met Tomasz eight years ago.

Joyce's storytelling is captivating, blending romance, nostalgia, and a touch of magic to create a compelling narrative. As Elodie navigates the complexities of her past and her lingering feelings for Tomasz, readers are swept away on a journey of self-discovery and second chances.

With its relatable characters and poignant themes, it's a story that resonates long after the final page is turned. I enjoyed the idea of the book being "what if I had the chance to go back in time and have that second chance", but unfortunately it just fell flat for me.

I couldn't really connect to the characters and I had a somewhat hard time following the story itself.

I felt this story lacked development, some things were repetitive and I felt that the story dragged a lot.

I'm sad this was a miss for me at this time, but in no way do I want to discourage anyone picking this book up, probably this just wan't the right time for me to read this book and I definitely don't rule out the possibility of revisiting this book in the future.

Thank you so much NetGalley, HQ Stories and Jennifer Joyce for the ARC!

I was excited for the main character to go back into time and to get a second chance with her one true love. I didn't expect it to be repeated over and over though. I'm happy with the ending and how she is okay with going back to California and her original life that she created after the accident. Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book.

I chose this book because I enjoy time travel romances. It took me a long time going back and forth to get going on the book. The phrase “ the end justifies the means” comes to mind as I finished the book. I liked the characters on the surface. I felt like I went to a party and got snippets of conversations about them. The main character, Elodie goes back in time within a plane ride which was only used effectively as you came out on the other side of the story. I liked how things turned out but it felt like a bumpy flight to get there, not a journey with the time travel making sense.

Not the best unfortunately. Thank you though to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this eARC

I enjoy reading “second chance” stories but this offering failed to hit the mark. I thought the narrative was a bit muddled and that the writer didn’t truly capitalize on the key relationships, making them less believable as a result.

I also found the time traveling element to be choppy and the ending was rushed. I found myself skipped though most of it just to get to the end.

It had potential to be a good story but it fell short for me.

This was an intriguing read. It starts with Elodie getting ready to return to her small town for her sister's wedding four years after her original departure. She left, running away from a terrible accident that changed all of their lives. When she makes a wish before boarding the plane, each bout of turbulence takes her back to the past, where she can change things for the present time. It's an interesting take on travel, physical and time-wise, as well as living with regrets and going with your gut feeling.

I couldn’t put this down! Elodie finds herself visiting her past in her early twenties before an awful tragedy happened and her life changed forever. She has a chance to make everything right. I was totally gripped by this - it was heartbreaking and I was so edge just willing things to work out. I loved all the characters and Elodie and Tomasz’s second chance romance was just so endearing. This is such a life affirming story and I loved it ❤️

What to expect:

- time travel
- small town
- second chance romance
- family drama

DNF. It makes me sad when I love the premise and the plot but the characters aren't relatable and that ruins the story for me.

2.75 This is one of those books where I love the premise but just could not get into the characters. This book follows Elodie on the way to her younger sisters wedding alone. On the long flight Elodie goes back in time 7 years a second chance with her ex the one who she sees as the one who got away.
I really like the idea of a romcom time travel novel while I loved the time travel premise I felt the book was lacking a little on the comedy side. I also really had a hard time connecting to the character’s and this really kind of left me not caring what happened to them. I do appreciate they question how changing things in a time travel situation may change your current life . I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Elodie is on a plane back home to her home town but she hasn't seen her best friend or parents in years and the little town she once loved is tainted by memories of her best friend's death but what if she can go back and change things make it so her life is different.
We join Elodie and her last 7 summers and how she world out how to change the course of time and save ed.

I loved this book it was sweet and the friendships were real and fun to read. I absolutely love the idea of time traveling. This book gets 5 stars from me.

The story is an interesting concept, however, I found this boring and hard to finish. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ Digital, & HarperCollins for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.

Felt a bit disconnected and jumbled, not enough interest to keep going.

I usually enjoy fun summer romance books but I lost interest in this one. I love the idea of the plot, go back in time to change something, but I was never motivated to pick this one up and keep reading.

I really tried but this was a DNF for me. Sorry 😞 I came back to it several times and it just didn’t keep my interest. Maybe eventually I’ll give it another shot.

Elodie left her hometown of Little Heaton for California after a tragic incident changed her life forever. Four years later, she is begrudgingly sitting on a plane back to England for her sister’s wedding, but when the plane hits turbulence, she finds herself not only back in Little Heaton but back in time!

The premise of Our Last Summer was interesting. A little slow in the beginning, but once things started to piece together, I couldn’t put it down!

This is a super fun second chance/time travel romance! It's definitely less spicy than my usual reads, but wholesome isn't necessarily a bad thing; honestly, it was a nice change of pace and worked really well here.

I like a story when I can't predict the ending by the halfway point — yes, I understand that romance has a HEA or it isn't romance, and I take comfort in that 99% of the time— this was one of those stories that could have gone either way (her ending up saving the love of her life or learning to be okay with her new normal), and I would have been totally fine.

Thank you, Harper Collins and HQ Stories, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a good book! It starts a little bit slow, I almost DNF it because of that, but I was curious... and I have to thank my curiosity. The time travel is not obvious at first, at least I was as confused as Elodie, but when things started moving on... Cozy, charming, heartbreaking, this book gave me all of that and more. I would love to read more from you.

Books that deal with time travel type scenarios can be hit or miss. I did like this one. I thought the story held up and the time travel was well written.
