To me this was a slightly disconnected, yet overall wholesome second chance romance story.
I really liked the character dynamics, although the time travel did make it somewhat difficult to follow at times. Everyone felt very genuine, and I was really rooting for everything to work out.
I also did find it a bit slow, but the ending really picked up and tied everything together in a way that made me really happy! Overall, a fairly mindless but enjoyable read!
Jennifer Joyce's books are always a joy to read and Our Last Summer is no different. I was so engrossed in Elodie's story. Everytime she went back in time I was more and more invested in the outcome. I would have liked the outcome to be a little more fleshed out though. Overall, another great read which left me with the stupidest smile on my face.
Elodie is on a plane back home to her home town but she hasn't seen her best friend or parents in years and the little town she once loved is tainted by memories of her best friend's death but what if she can go back and change things make it so her life is different.
We join Elodie and her last 7 summers and how she world out how to change the course of time and save ed.
I loved this book it was sweet and the friendships were real and fun to read. I absolutely love the idea of time traveling. This book gets 5 stars from me.
Wow! What a (plane) ride of a book! Jennifer Joyce is the queen of time-travel rom coms!
On a plane home, Elodie is sent back in time to relive one fateful summer and possibly change the past and the events that sent her life off-course.
Jennifer Joyce is one of my favourite authors. Her books are always both heart-warming and laugh-out-loud funny, and you can rely on her for writing fantastic stories that offer something a bit different! I've read and loved many of her books over the years, but the most recent ones - The Christmas Cupid and this fabulous read - are definitely two of my favourites!
This is pure escapism and a window into something we've all probably fantasised about at some point or another - what if you could go back and prevent something bad from happening?
It was masterfully plotted so you understand everything at the exact moment you're supposed to. And what a brilliant ending! Throughout the book, I was unsure of how it was all going to be wrapped up, but it didn't let me down - as I knew it wouldn't!
This was an absolute joy to read! I both raced through it because I was desperate to find out how it would be resolved and I equally didn't want it to end!
5 HUGE stars!
I can't wait to see where Jennifer is time-travelling to next time!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a great group of characters and good character development. The book is a cute light hearted beach read. The time travel part of it worked well in this book.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Jennifer Joyce's romcom Our Last Summer is an interesting take on second chance love. Incorporating her unique twist on time travel had me hooked from early on. The characters were well written, and her descriptions of Little Heaton made it easy to picture.
At times, I felt that the story moved slowly, which took me out of the action for brief periods.
Overall, I found Our Last Summer to be a fun, lighthearted read and I thank NetGalley and HQ Digital for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Second chance romance are my absolute favourite and I am determined to read every single one of them, but this one didn't hit as well as I hoped. I had a hard time connecting with Elodie's relationships. I wanted to see more of her connection with Tomasz, it felt a bit lacking for someone she claims is the love of her life. The time travelling back and forth to relive significant memories from her past was a nice touch but I wish it was done better. I didn't understand the purpose of the time travelling and how it was relevant to the present day story until way later in the novel :/
Overall, a bit disappointed as i'm a huge fan of second chance romances but still a good read for anyone interested!
This book is out now for anyone interested in reading it!! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it ♡
I enjoy reading “second chance” stories but this offering failed to hit the mark. I thought the narrative was a bit muddled and that the writer didn’t truly capitalise on illustrating key relationships, making them less believable as a result.
Elodie randomly discovers she is time-travelling back to her twenties, re-living the years leading up to her best friend’s death. In real time, Elodie is flying from California to home, dreading returning to the little village that she turned her back on as a result of the tragedy. At unexpected moments during the flight, Elodie finds herself sucked out of her reality and back in the past. Realising that she could alter events to prevent the tragedy from taking place, Elodie learns to enjoy being back home and starts to accept that moving to California has not been the positive dream she was hoping for.
Joyce subtly indicates the times when Elodie is going to move from the plane and into the past. However, I think this could have been made more explicit. Even if Elodie doesn’t realise it, I would have liked to have understood what might have been triggering this jump. I did wonder whether the action that triggered Elodie’s time-travelling was a metaphor but think this could have been explained.
For the most part, I thought the time-travelling to be sporadic and not really linking together. It was only after I had finished the book did I realise that Elodie does revisit key moments of her summers. But, it isn’t made clear to readers at the time and this meant I was frustrated at how disconnected this appeared to Elodie’s eventual goal. Furthermore, I did not feel invested in her relationships, particularly with Tomasz. Whilst he is depicted as the love of her life, I thought Joyce could have relived more of their budding connection because I think this was dominated by Elodie’s desperation to change the past.
The final quarter of the book was the most exciting and interesting. Finally, revelations were being made and that really fuelled my interest in the story. I liked the clever plot twists and was uncertain how the story would eventually conclude. Would Elodie succeed? How would her memories change? Would there still be a tragedy? All these and more flitted through my mind as I carried on reading, and I thought this last part of the story was the most relevant of all.
In my opinion, the ending felt a bit rushed and convenient. Plot ends were tied up all too quickly and neatly with a few too may coincidences for my liking. I think this reflected my overall enjoyment of the story because it just plodded along for the most part with readers watching Elodie’s attitude change towards her youth. I wanted there to be more obvious connections to the events Elodie is trying to alter and this didn’t come until nearly the close of the novel.
This is a sweet summer tale of second chances but I don’t think it was my favourite in terms of using time-travelling to right some wrongs.
With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A great bunch of characters and engaging writing, this book had the makings of a wonderful weekend escape, and that I did. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a review.
This was a perfect summer beach read! I really just immersed myself in the story and enjoyed where it took me. Elodie's love story and also personal growth was written beautifully. It was an easy, quick read that is perfect for by the pool or at the beach this summer!
An interesting premise, that would be hard for anyone to pull off, yet Joyce delivered. I was instantly addicted to the novel, and became kindred with the main characters.
Great read, really enjoyed Elodies story. I love Jennifer's ability to keep me gripped when I think I will find out what's happening next, we are back to the present! Definitely recommend.
I enjoyed this book - a different take on the usual romcom. The characters were well written and the premise was really interesting. Recommended.
I loved this and I could read it over and over! I love a good groundhog day romance book! It was absolutely perfect! 5 stars!!

I’m not usually a fan of time travel books but I loved Our Last Summer and would highly recommend it. The time travel element was cleverly done as the discomfort and confusion of Elodie when she first goes back to her past mirrored my own feelings and drew me in to the story from the off. Although a love story at its heart it is so much more than that - an emotional and engaging read about second chances and the power of love - romantic/ familial/ friend. It is a book that tugs at your heart strings and leaves your thoughts running long after the final page.
The plot is well-paced and keeps the reader engaged throughout with the magical element adding a unique twist that creates interest and intrigue. The author’s writing style is simple but highly effective striking just the write note and bringing to life both the setting and characters. All of us at some point have wondered “What if” and seeing the power of second chances in this book is both inspirational and thought provoking.
Overall, Our Last Summer is a beautiful and heartwarming story that will leave readers feeling uplifted and inspired. A must-read for romance lovers who like their love stories to pack an emotional punch. Perfect for fans of Cecilia Ahern, Emily Bell and Lia Louis.
This book was somehow lighthearted and had a depth that was carried throughout the story. I kept feeling like it could be a movie with the way things were described. The plot was so interesting and it really showed how even though we can’t time travel, we can do things to change the way things turn out.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

i’ll potentially come back to this in the future, i just couldn’t read it right now. definitely nothing against the book
A cute fluffy timehop in a sweet way kind of book. The main character was lovely and didn’t have a clue what was going on initially but when she did, she tried to change things for the better. I enjoyed this, it flowed well and I liked the character development from her view of them first time round to the changes second time round x
Thanks a Netgalley, I would recommend this book x

Sadly, I found this book a little boring. The concept of time travel was appealing, but the execution felt repetitive and not so much interesting. There were some cute moments, and I really appreciated the fact that the FMC tried to be not only a better girlfriend but also a better daughter/sister/friend/person in general.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the e Arc.
Ever Wish you got a second chance to do things over. In this summer time travel rom com, you get experience what could happen
Would make a great beach read. I devoured it in one sitting and made such sweet story. Time travel written great! One of the best time travel books I've read. I fell in love with all the characters and could not stop reading! Can't wait to see more from the author Jennifer Joyce. I give it a 5/5 for a perfect summer beach read, pages flow quickly and has a sweet, romantic, storyline that hooks you from the start.
