3.25/5 stars! This is the first book in Linsey Hall's "Charming Cove." Its a PNR full of witchy magic. It was fun but not unique. I just didn't believe their story. It was a cute little romcom with magical elements; it works for spooky season.

The book was surprisingly good. I didn't expect to like it so much. The plot is simple yet exciting. The flowers are a particularly captivating element. The magical world is refreshingly unique and not at all clichéd. It's refreshing to see new ideas in this genre. I also really liked the protagonist. Her character is compelling. I was captivated from the start and read the book in no time.

This was cute and light-hearted, i really liked the romance and this was an easy read. The couple is really the highlight and the MC is lovable.

Could not finish this. The premise had potential—clumsy witch, magical competition, enemies-to-lovers—but the execution was just too much. The main character tries so hard to be quirky and relatable, but the voice feels forced, like it’s constantly winking at the reader. Every other line is a punchline, and it gets exhausting fast.
The plot is predictable, the romance with the “sexy billionaire mage” feels like it’s lifted straight from a checklist, and the world-building is more cute-for-the-sake-of-cute than actually compelling. Charming Cove, foul-mouthed familiars, a potion shop to save—it all sounds fun, but it plays out like a Hallmark movie with a magic filter and none of the charm.
Nothing really hooked me, and I found myself skimming before I gave up completely. Just too much fluff, not enough substa

I really tried to like this book but just couldn’t get into the writing which is fine just means it wasn’t for me

The Modern Girl’s Guide to Magic by Linsey Hall is a fun, fast-paced fantasy with a relatable heroine who discovers she has magical powers. Set in a world full of danger, mystery, and romance, it’s the perfect mix of adventure and charm. The plot keeps you hooked with plenty of twists, while the characters are easy to root for. If you love a good magical romp with a dash of humor and heart, this one's a great pick.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers. Especially magical enemies to lovers.
The Modern Girl's Guide to Magic is basically what happens when a perfectly normal girl gets hit with a hefty dose of magic and a lot of awkward situations. One minute she’s sipping coffee, and the next, she’s dealing with magical chaos in the charming town of Charming Cove. It’s like a cozy mystery meets rom-com—except with spells and a lot of mayhem.
The heroine is a lovable mess, trying to navigate her new powers without accidentally ruining her life. And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want magic to help them out of sticky situations? The supporting cast adds tons of fun, from quirky best friends to a romance that adds just the right amount of swoon.
I knocked off a star because the pacing sometimes felt a little too rushed, but honestly, this book is pure fun. If you’re into magic, humor, and a touch of romance, The Modern Girl's Guide to Magic will definitely charm its way into your heart.

3.5 - cozy witchy book about a witch who has issues with her magic and she has to save the family potion shop. She figures herself out throughout this story and the competition that motivates her. The romance part of this story was kind of a side story really and didn’t develop a whole lot. They end up together but I think a second book may develop their relationship more.

Super cute, low stakes, likeable characters and beautiful setting! Very light and easy read. I’ll definitely check out the others in this series.

Callan!!! Love him. Love the characters. Liked the plot - I personally was not a fan of the writing style. Despite liking so much of it, I dont think I was actually the target for this novel. I prefer more flowery ALMOST purple writing.

I wanted to love this but unfortunately it fell around a “I kinda like this but don’t know if I would continue with the series”. The romance in this was okay but it didn’t develop how I wanted it to but that’s okay, that’s a me problem! It was quite with likeable main characters.

Ever want to just love a book so much but no matter what you do, you cant seem to get into it. This book had so much that I love but it just fell flat for me. I am wondering if the other books get better as it goes on, maybe I could try reading it again with a more clear head. But I do not know if that would change it.

I enjoyed this book but it was a bit of a disappointment as I was expecting a five star read. I liked the characters but felt like they could have had a bit more about them. I also found that the story lacked any uniqueness. That being said it was still enjoyable.

Cozy and lighthearted read. I like the age gap romance but I wish they were a little bit older. This also read a little bit more like YA than adult. The pace was a little slow and I wish there was more character development.

Funny, witchy, fast read. Funny and romantic. Small town charm.
Perfect for autumn. Highly recommend. 4/5 stars

The cover of this book drew me in immediately even before I knew what it was about. The story was different than what I expected, but I thought the romance was really cute.

3/5 Stars
This was just an average read. I thought the romance was cute but I wanted more from it. It was an easy, quick, and cozy read with some magic sprinkled in between. I will say it seems to read younger than I thought it would, it seemed more young adult than it did adult. Like I said it was a fun time and would for sure read more of this authors book for some cozy vibes.

BO-RING! I almost fell asleep reading this book so that says a lot about my opinion on it. The 2 main characters had exactly ZERO chemistry with one another, none, nothing! And of course the main character turns out to be some kind of super powerful unique witch or whatever. How original... 2 stars

First off the cover is absolutely stunning and drew me right into this book. I liked the overall theme of this with having to compete to earn something to same your family and your home; I was maybe hoping for more thrilling adventures although the cave definitely put in the high stakes. I also love anything with multiple POVs because I love seeing the difference in the characters thoughts and voices throughout and gaining insight. I get the FMC's feelings on being an outsider but I do think it was more YA than I expected in some parts with the way she interacted with other contestants feeling high-school drama ish. This was very fast paced with the challenges not lasting very long; I did absolutely love the descriptions of the third one and the descriptions of the animals within the story. This type of story reminds me of watching Hallmark type movies because of the two love interests competing; one being a small town girl the other a rich businessman who is aiming to get rid of something, who end up intertwined, it makes it very nostalgic and heartwarming. I liked the romance between the MC's with the history and the rivalry and some of the tension, some parts may have been a little rushed with them going from competitors to where they ended up, I'd of liked more of the middle part of them. I am glad to see this is book one of a series because I do think there were some more things I need to know after the ending and I am intrigued.
