Thank you to NetGalley, Bonnie Doon Press and the amazing Linsey Hall for an ARC e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.25/5

First lets start of with my FAVOURITE character... Boris the Badger. What an amazing addition to this book and it would not have been as funny or wholesome without him, his first scene when he was swearing was when I fell in love with him and I was thrilled when he was in the rest of the book, I mean who wouldn't want a Badger as a familiar.

We are following Aria as she competes for a magical garden after returning to her home town, feeling her magic isn't the best to put it mildly. We meet Callan who is the love interest, He is one of the features in the book I didnt like, not because he wasn't a great character he was but because of how many times it was mentioned how huge and fit he was.

One of my favourite things about this is there is no messy 3rd act breakup, it is slow burn romance and the miscommunication trope was resolved early on which I LOVE.

I would highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.

The Modern Girl’s Guide To Magic is a sweet, cozy, magical fantasy novel.
I loved the overall vibes of this book and the story was just lovely and easy to read. Boris was such a brilliant character, I loved his antics and light sass.
The relationship between Aria and Callan was sweet and easy but I did feel like it was missing a little bit of spark.
I also felt that the ending was a bit abrupt.
Overall, a great summer read with witchy, planty vibes!

Words can’t even describe how much I enjoyed ‘The Modern Girls Guide to Magic,’ by Linsey Hall! Every chapter immersed me further into the story and to be honest, I didn’t want it to end. From the moment I read the first chapter, I was hooked! The character and scenic developments were fantastic and allowed me to imagine in depth what they visually and characteristically were like.

Thank you so much NetGalley, Bonnie Doon Press and Linsey Hall for my gifted copy, I thoroughly enjoyed; and highly recommend to any lover of YA, Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I also also highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to give the Fantasy genre a go.

For me this book is an easy 5/5. I wish I could read it again for the first time!

This should have been right up my alley but sadly it wasn't, I dnf it...
If you want something cosy, cheesy and quick to read, this book is probably for you, but for me it was just too boring. The mmc was obsessed with the fmc from the start and the reason she had to hate him was just childish and exaggerated. Everything was too superficial for me to connect with the story and I just couldn't bother to continiue reading.

I received this from NetGalley and really enjoyed it. I am not a fantasy fan by any stretch, but I do enjoy a witchy romance every once in a while. A cute cast of characters, sweet love story and a happy ending for all. If you liked The Ex Hex or The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, you'll like this one too.

The Modern Girl's Guide to Magic was such a fun and easy, lighthearted summer read. Although I think the storyline and characters could have used a bit more depth and conflict, the pacing was fast, the plot moved along, and I devoured this in about 24 hours. I especially loved the secondary characters including Boris the badger, the adorable main character's familair. I would say the romance is definitely more on the YA side, even though I think this is marketed more as an adult romance. If you are looking for the perfect witchy beach read this summer I'd definitely recommend this one!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my completely unbiased review.

The Modern Girl’s Guide To Magic is absolutely adorable and a perfect light-hearted and fun read. It’s the story of Aria, a witch who has always struggled to fit in with her community because she can’t get a handle on her magic. She’s been living in London for a few years when her Gran suddenly comes and says she needs to come home to Charming Cove to enter in a competition to win the local gardens that their family business sources herbs from.

Aria reluctantly goes home and is soon faced with her competitors which include her childhood school bullies and the mysterious Callan who she met briefly several years ago and but has come to hate. She has to put her feelings aside as she works to control her magic, win the gardens competition, and save her family business.

This book was very cute and easy to read. It touches on a lot of topics like accepting your differences, friendship, inner strength, and of course a bit of romance.

A cute and charming romantic comedy in book form!

This book is perfect if you need a lighthearted, cosy read and it has everything you would want from an romance book - including a little competition and witchy magic.

I have seen other reviews that has claimed the story lacked depth and conflict, and I agree. But I also believe that this is a common lack for this type of book genre, and it could be intentional. After all, rom coms are intended to be cheerful and bright, and this book definitely is!

If you need a book to grab for the beach or your next vacay, this is it.

If you’re a fan of small towns. enemies to lovers, billionaires AND/or second chance romances, then this book have it all and more!

this was such a cute book!! it was funny, lovable and super easy and fast to read.
the characters were nice to follow up, espevcially the fmc. But my favourite of all is Catrina. She really added to this book and made it more special.

So I love PNR witchy romance but this one was just okay. With the influx of PNR I feel like some of the stories just fall flat and don't keep you engaged. While this was cozy, I don't think I would continue this if it became a series.

First of all, thanks to the publisher for the free copy to read in advance.

I love urban fantasy. It's one of my favorite genre and the idea to have witches among us is always something appealing to me, so I was very curious and intrigued about this novel, that promised also an interesting enemies to lover story.

Unfortunately, even if the general idea is good, the rest bored me. I couldn't connect with the main character and the reason she hates Callan is fragile as a glass cup. The rest follows the same problem, with too many of clichés. I missed some depht and/or more original aspects that could make me involved in what I was reading.
I'm really sorry but I don't think I'll read the rest of the series.

THIS BOOK WAS SO COZY AND CUTE AND MAGICAL!!!!!! Requested the eARC on NetGalley because of the cover and title - I was not disappointed! If you want a cute, quick, closed door romance fantasy read this one's for you. It reads like a rom com and there's even a hilarious familiar who will eat you out of house and home! We have second chance romance and enemies to lovers. Overall I recommend this read and can't wait to return to Charming Cove for more standalones in this series!

A fun read. Aria has always struggled with her magic, and the latest incident loses her job for her. When she returns home and ends up competing against Callan will it keep them together or drive them apart. A great book, and I liked how it was told from both points of view.

I loved this! Aria is a witch living away from her home and family and can’t control her magic. Her grandmother asks her to come home to save the family business, and along the way she learns how to control her magic and reconnects with her community and friends. I cannot wait for book 2!

Fluffy, YA, romance read. The book is easy to read and has a nice feel to it. It's advertised as 'adult' but I would say it's more YA. The characters are sweet towards each other and show a lot of compassion, which I loved. It did start off a bit slow but it was such an easy read I wasn't that worried. I definitely would have liked to have seen a bit more character building, particularly with Aria to see her become more confident in herself.

This had YA enemies to lover feel, with a romantic comedy edge. There is a slight age gap where Aria is 17 and Callan is 21 (at the beginning) - this didn't really bother me but I probably would have just made her 18 so as not to cross that underage line. Especially considering Callan was sexually attracted to her at this age (he didn't act on it though).

The story was engaging and interesting, with a lot of fluff. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Modern Girl’s Guide to Magic by Linsey Hall is a delightful read set in England with competition, witches, magic and love.
The protagonist Aria is a great character with a good backstory and difficulty with her magic. The love interest Callan is the billionaire mage but not what one would expect from a typical young and famous guy. I loved the supporting characters and even the mean girl Lilac, which happens to be my daughter’s name.
The story is set in Charming Cove in England and as an American reader, I could tell there were some different words and phrases that I am no familiar with. I had to look up the Edinburgh Tattoo. It did not take away from the story, and I could still get the gist of what was meant. I loved the description of the garden and Gran’s shop.
The romance was tame but sweet. I did like the build up of Aria and Callan, especially how things end without any major upsets or unnecessary drama.
Overall I enjoyed this book, it was the perfect length, the story progressed nicely and I found myself hoping the book would not end. I recommend it for anyone who wants a quick refreshing read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bonnie Doon Press for this ARC!

- This book was exactly what I have been looking for!! It’s so cozy and fun to read and I loved all the characters!
- I loved the whole concept! The magical world with a sleepy, seaside magical town full of cozy magical shops!!! I have been daydreaming about the places in this book constantly since I finished it.
- I was a little concerned when I started, and there were a few places where it could’ve used a little editing. These were easy for me to get past because of how much I enjoyed the book!
- I have always loved books with plant magic, and this book really did that phenomenally! The description of gardens and the magical tasks full of strange plants and odd creatures had me so engaged. I will devour every book in this series, and I will likely reread this one!
