Quick Summary: An opposites attract romance

My Review: Riesling with My Roommate by Liz Alden was a star-crossed love story for the ages. It brought together a widowed, single parent mom from Texas and a sexy rockstar musician from Europe.

About the Book: What started out as an adventure on the other side of the globe ended with an unexpected love match that would not be denied.

About Sara: What could a 40ish yogi with vegan tendencies possibly have in common with a mega star band member? Sure, he had helped her out by giving her a fungus-free living space. He let her occupy his dwelling place, even granting access to her girlfriends and daughter. He even allowed her to get around in his wheels. So what if they had chemistry. Nothing could come from their attraction to one another, right?

About Chris: Why oh why did Chris ever invite this stranger into his temporary shelter? He didn't need the distraction or the trouble. He had his own issues to deal with, like getting past his mental block. It didn't help that she paraded around in those leave nothing to the imagine types of clothing. She was nothing like what he was used to. Is it possible that she is the very thing he needs? Could she be his muse, or could she be something more?

About the Couple: The sexy tension between Sara and Chris was smoking. Their friendship was really sweet. I love the way they supported each other. I also appreciated their unique style of communication from beginning to end.

About the Girlfriends: This group of friends were hella courageous. I love that they put themselves out there in such a big way. Not only were they present for Sara, but they were also available for Sara's daughter. That was family. With that said, I was not ready for them to share every juicy detail with each other. That was rich!

About the Band: I loved the band!!! As I was reading, I couldn't help but wonder if they would each get their own story. The lead and the drummer...yes, please.

About the HEA: What a sacrifice! All in the name of love. Salute.

My Final Say: This is book two in the Aged Like Fine Wine series. My interest is totally piqued. I am new to this author and to this series, but I look forward to learning more. I would not hesitate to recommend this book.

This was such a fun read! My second book from this author and I loved it. Enjoyable change of pace reading for me with plenty of laughs and a sweeter romance than I usually read.

Sara and Chris definitely don’t work on paper but there’s something about them that neither can ignore.

I really enjoyed the humour in this one and the friend group are such great characters. Definitely recommend.

Riesling with My Roommate is sweet yet spicy, a fun read with likeable characters. I felt that the exposition and denouement felt a bit rushed (common for books in this genre), but the middle was well-paced. Things I loved: middle-aged main characters, female friendships, and the little glimpses of the storylines from what I assume will be the rest of the series.

Thanks the author for this ARC! Happy bookday!

"Riesling with my Roommate" apresenta cenas quentes e sensuais, que exploram a paixão entre Sara e Chris.

WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK! It has your roommate-friends-lovers trope, celebrity trope, opposites attract trope, forced proximity, strong friendships and it is filled with tension, romance, humor and plenty of spice! Once I started reading I could not stop. Seriously, this book lacked nothing in my opinion! Liz Alden has created such a lovely story, and as always I am loving getting to know the girls. Their friendship is the most beautiful part about this series. I’m eager to read book number three.

Romance | Rockstar

Life is full of adventure, especially for mom, Sarah, who moves from Texas to Germany to follow her daughter to school and adventure with her friends.

Sarah comes across a situation that leads her to needing to find a new place to stay. Cue rockstar Chris. Well. . .ordinary Chris to Sarah who isn't familiar with Chris's band.

The book goes through Sarah and Chris becoming roommates, to Sarah discovering who Chris truly is, to their own adventure with romance.

Throughout reading thee book it felt slow even though we didn't see much interaction with the roommates. I was hoping to see more interaction with them. In addition, I just feel I didn't connect to the characters. They were pretty flat and 'meh'. The characters weren't very appealing and I didn't feel the need to root for them. It seemed the supporting characters got just as much told about them as the MC Sarah.

Riesling With My Roommate is the second book of the Aged Like Fine Wine series of interconnected standalones. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading my from her! I absolutely loved this book! I really connected with Sara and wanting to stay close to her daughter after she graduates. Sara decides to move to Germany to stay close to her daughter but things don’t turn out as planned and she ends up living rockstar Chris. I loved the banter between these two and the chemistry was smoking hot! Chris was sweet and a total marshmallow! This was a fun and lighthearted read and I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to Emma’s story and more of this series!

Another fun and toe-curling story of love in midlife. I’m getting pretty attached to this group of women. And Chris is a much more interesting love interest with flaws and maturity that we missed with Luc.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my free copy. These opinions are my own.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy of riesling with my roommate. this was such a cute story about older women finding something for themselves again, also very sex positive. Sara and Chris have the forbidden fruit vibes going on in the beginning and it was so cute and innocent! When they act on their feelings it is like a fire cracker between them. This was beautiful but also very very spicy.

Liz Alden has quickly become an auto-read author for me! The Aged Like Fine Wine series is the perfect mix of spicy, funny and emotional. I am adoring following these mature characters through their love stories.

Riesling with My Roommate (I mean, if that title doesn't grab you, idk what to tell ya ;) ), was such a beautiful story about Sara and Chris and their journey to love. I found myself giggling, blushing and enjoying the journey.

The love story is beautiful but I also loved seeing Sara's relationship with her daughter, her banter with her friends and her journey toward loving herself and her body. And then the grumpy (FAMOUS) musician roommate who falls head over heels with this women from TX. The forced proximity, the dual yoga and merging of lives was great to read.

Also, selfishly, I LOVED seeing glimpses of Tessa and Luc.

I cant wait to continue this series and learn more about this fun friend group. This is a MUST read and releases on June 30th.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

This book contains some really good tropes; opposite attract, forced proximity, single mother. The book was also a perfect length and pace to keep my attention on it.

The worst part of this book was how much Chris changed himself for Sara, but she stayed exactly the same throughout. Sara was also an overbearing mother to her daughter. Zoe, especially considering she was married and gave birth to Zoe at the same age Zoe is in this book.

Also, for a book set in Germany, it didn’t feel very German.

This series continues to be an absolute delight, and I am enjoying every moment of it.

The story of Sara and Chris is incredibly sweet, fun, and yes, spicy! It all begins with Chris extending his hand to Sara, offering her somewhere to stay when the room she booked turns out to be a disaster. Unbeknownst to her, he is a famous musician. However, as Sara discovers Chris's true celebrity status and they start to spend time together they realise that opposites really do attract.

Needless to say, I am excited for what to come in Emma's story

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Firstly I’d like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC 🥰😘

When plant based Yoga teacher Sara decides to move to Germany to be closer to her daughter she doesn’t factor in the mushrooms that would be growing in her tiny flat. After over hearing a very loud and very depressing phone call with her besties, Chris Rächer - a sexy, rockstar currently hiding away trying to writing his next hit, offers her a place to stay. Things in the house are great, Chris and Sara work around each other each doing their own thing and when they start to spend time together they realise that opposites really do attract and it’s really fun when they do 😏❤️

I love all the tropes used in the book - opposites attract, forced proximity, roommates to lovers and the slow burn is everything!! Chris and Sara’s romance is just so steamy and spicy and yet it’s so cute and loving as well!! 😍😍 Sara’s relationship with her daughter and her best friends is also wonderful.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I just wish the ending was a bit longer!! Oh and I’d love a Chris please 🤞😏 4✨

this was such a sweet, fun, spicy story! I am really loving this series so far because the characters aren’t typical romance hero’s & heroines, but mid-aged, starting new adventures, very different people in life coming together bc they actually are perfect for one another.

Sara & Chris have such a sweet start, Chris offering Sara safety & comfort in a new country & Sara being a kind & fun friend to Chris not knowing he’s a famous musician. but their friendship becomes more romantic after Sara learns he’s a much bigger deal than he originally let on, and they have such a fun, spicy relationship! Sara is a sweetheart trying to stay part of her daughters life as she’s studying abroad in Germany while also working as a video yoga teacher, but she’s def feeling a little overwhelmed in a new place but Chris’s friendship becomes such a saving grace for her. & Sara gives Chris a break from his creativity block, showing him more healthy & sustaining ways to live long & happy. & I love that they have the sweetest happily ever after ❤️

I loved seeing the friend group again, seeing Tessa & Luc again & getting me very excited for Emma’s story!!!

thank you for the ARC!!!

I absolutely adored "Rosé with My Fake Fiancé," and I couldn't wait to read her next novel!
I liked this as well, but unfortunately not as much as the previous one. This time it took too long for them to form an attachment (halfway through the book they only kissed once and then never acknowledged it again).
It was an extremely cute read, but this time I had a harder time connecting with the characters.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Riesling with My Roommate is such a fun and quick read! This book is the second of the Aged Like Fine Wine series. I have not read the other books in this series, but it could work as a standalone. I really enjoyed the variety of topics covered in this book as Sara, the FMC, moves to Germany to support her daughter studying abroad. A widowed mother, Sara finds herself in a bind when her arranged living space is unlivable. After a chance encounter and an opportunity to live a life of luxury, Sara becomes roommates with Chris, a world-famous rockstar (even though she doesn't know that).
This book was a fun read that emphasized internal growth, female relationships, opposites attract, and a rockstar love story. I really enjoyed how supportive Sara and Chris were of each other and their aspirations. Their relationship seemed to grow organically as they were living just rooms apart; for Spice, the first half was pretty clean, but towards the end, it gets pretty dirty. While the main focus of this book is Sara's relationship with Chris, there is still a lot of interaction between her and her daughter as well as her and 3 of her closest friends (who I think the other books are based around)
Overall, I would recommend this book to someone who wants a fun romance that deals with some serious topics and greatly emphasizes personal growth.
TW: mentions of cancer-related deaths, drug and alcohol usage, explicit consensual spice

What a refreshing change of pace!

There aren’t nearly enough fun romcoms with older women in them. I love the whole older woman/younger man thing, even if it was only a 5 year gap. Sara is like….super cool but also somehow a major square at the same time. Definitely related to her a lot as a mom.

And Chris? PHEW!!!!! That’s a book boyfriend! Sweet, hot, talented, kind, caring….what more do you need?

There was no OW drama and the conflict did not revolve around miscommunication. Again, refreshing! This was a well-written, easy read.

I’m gonna need a whole book about that failed ska band because…….same.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book felt a little unexpected to me, because in many ways it isn’t a traditional romance. The main characters are in their late 30s early 40s and the women have traveled to Europe for an adventure year. The women are all excellent friends and constantly stay in touch with each other, but it feels mature without being too old. The characters still have growth, but a lot of it is being more comfortable in their skin at their given age, and still living their best lives. Chris is an interesting male character being that he is a rockstar, but kind of in hiding. Sara is his complete opposite being a health but yogi. However, they really get along and become friends before romance really starts blooming. The book moved quickly and I was happy with the pace. It didn’t feel like the characters were super in-depth, but it made for a really lighthearted romance. Overall, this is an excellent read as a quick and fun romance that is just unique enough. 3.75⭐️, 2.5🌶

This series focuses on four women in their 40's needing to shake up their lives a bit who decide to go to Europe for a year after one of the women's daughters is admitted to a study abroad program. The women each choose different countries and have different work arrangements but agree to meet once a month in a different city so they can explore places other than their immediate surroundings. In this, the second book, we meet Sara, a 42 YO single mom and yoga instructor whose daughter Zoe's admittance to a German study program was the catalyst for the whole adventure. Sara chooses the German resort town of Baden-Baden to relocate to so that she's close enough to Zoe in Munich for weekend trips.

Unfortunately, the apartment Sara booked online turns out to be a dump, but she's rescued from the situation by Chris, a German guy who overhears her arguing with her landlord and offers her a roommate situation. What Sara doesn't know is that Chris is the (rather famous) singer for a punk rock band that recently won Eurovision. What follows is a slow burn yet spicy, opposites-attract romance. Sara is vegan, clean-living, into meditation and calmness, while Chris has been living a hard rock/punk/Goth lifestyle with his band. Their romance develops slowly but once it gets going, whew, watch out, as these two can't keep their hands off each other. The problem they face, though, is how to reconcile two totally different lifestyles in the longer-term.

I'm really enjoying the way each of the four women in the series is exploring their own career and personal challenges in settings as diverse as Paris, Madrid, Rome, and small-town Germany while also always being supportive and available to each other to help problem solve and run interference. I'm guessing Emma in Rome is up next as there were some rather intriguing hints about what is going on in her life in this book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
