A great beginning dinosaur book. Perfect for the nonfiction beginning readers in your house or classroom.
I would not consider this a first book of dinosaurs. Based on the cover, I would’ve thought this was going to be a board book with a very brief introduction to five or so dinosaurs that are incredibly popular. However, this is more like a second-grade nonfiction book. The layout is not my favorite. The cover is better than the pages. The information is good and there are a lot of different dinosaurs then normally seen in these types of books. While this was a nice book and kids will love it, I thought it was just meh.
What a cool book, both educational and fun. As much as I thought I knew about dinosaurs, I now know just how little I knew. We've only known about their existence for less than 200 years, but so much has already been discovered. It was disappointing to find out that there are certain animals whose bones are fragile and they do not hold up well enough to make good fossils, so now my brain is full of all the ideas of other dinosaurs we'll probably never know about.
This book only covers maybe 40 dinosaurs of the unimaginable number of animals that lived in the Mesozoic era, which spanned almost 200 million years. But what it does cover is fascinating, and I'm sure any elementary school child will agree.
Me and my children enjoyed this story with all the dinosaurs within. It was about dinosaur facts and fun. It had some dino from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
This was a fun story to read. It had a few giggles within. There was illustration with in that were dino.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
This book gives a few facts about dinosaurs and other creatures that lived that we find in fossils and I’ve heard about. And then goes into a little bit more depth on a few dinosaurs, including how to pronounce their names and a few facts about the way they lived and their external characteristics.
I received an Earc copy of this from the publisher through NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
“My First Book of Dinosaurs: All About Prehistoric Creatures for Kids,” by Erin Waters MEd and Illustrators,Annalisa Duarte and Marina Duarte, is a colorful educational resource not only for designated 3-5 year-olds, but everyone interested in prehistoric times, fossils, and paleontology. This wonderfully detailed and referenced book also offers a ‘listen along’ e-version that is terrific for learning how to pronounce dinosaur names, as well as keeping listeners engaged while reading on their own.
With a brief history on geological periods when dinosaurs lived; an explanation about carnivores and herbivores; a comprehensive list of extinct species—with a pronunciation guide, creature specifications, color illustrations, as well as fun facts about each. A complete index is provided at the beginning of the book, along with an extensive glossary of terms at the conclusion.
JoyReaderGirl1 graciously thanks NetGalley, Author Erin Waters MEd and Illustrators,Annalisa Duarte and Marina Duarte, and Publisher Callisto Media, an imprint of Rockridge Press for this advanced reader’s copy (ARC) for review.
This book is super cute and informative. My young boys absolutely loved it! A definite must read for any young palentologist.
This title doesn't really fit the book. I've read dozens of Dinosaur books and I learned a lot of new information, my grandson is going to be very interested in knowing. The illustrations we on point and the details will captivate young and old. I'd call it The Book of Dinosaurs!
Thank you NetGalley for the copy in the change for an honest review. This book had lots of good information on dinosaurs. Great for young kids who are interested in learning more. Lots of pictures of dinosaurs and pronunciation guides.
