They were the greatest song ever written, and he planned on singing their song for the rest of his life.
This was such a fun read! Tessa is queen of rom-coms!
I'm just sad that it wasn't more Christmas-y.
An adorable Christmas novella that will be sure to leave you desperate for more. Tessa Bailey is a brilliant writer, who always seems to have this unique way of writing sweet, funny and spicy romances. Wreck the Halls was brilliant and I would loveeee more Christmas romances from her!!
A delightful holiday escapism ! Very enjoyable. thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC. Highly recommended!
I am a Tessa Bailey apologist. She can do no wrong in my eyes. Every time I pick up one of her books I know what I’m getting into and I always have a good time. This was no exception, Christmas but make it romance with a dash of spice and Tessa’s signature leading man. Loved.
I am so torn with Tessa Bailey’s books… I like them but I don’t at the same time. This one was okay, enjoyable enough but the storyline was so over the top ridiculous it just seemed unnecessary. I liked the chemistry between the two main characters though it seemed a bit too convenient. Always good romantic scenes from this author but this whole story was just a bit too over the top for me.
A fun holidayish romance. Tessa always hits right. I really enjoyed the premise of this book and the characters. It was a bit different to any other Tessa book I have read, which I really liked!
I loved this (almost) fated mates story! Set in a backdrop of reality TV and social media, the silly meets the heartfelt as Beat and Melody fall in love trying to get their retired Rockstar parents to reunite. Sizzling banter, sharp writing and heated love that is the Tessa Bailey standard.
It might be time to admit that Tessa Bailey just isn't the author for me. I loved the premise, and the writing was in no way bad but it just didn't pull me in the way I wanted it to, even attempting to read it over the christmas period when the energy for holiday stories was very high.
Read this book leading up to the holiday period. I found the two main characters interesting and the romantic tense between the characters was fantastic. The main plot line of the reality TV show trying to get their mother's old band back together was an ok plot line however at times felt like this plot line did not quite reach it's full potential.
This book is a perfect read for when you are on holiday.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher Avon for review. I have purchased this book privately as the book had archived before completion. I have not received any rewards or compensation for this review and therefore all views and opinions are of my own, the reviewer.
In summary: Melody and Beat are recruited to reunite their mothers and convince them to regroup their band.
This book is my first Tessa Bailey story and I am sorry to say the book is still sitting at page 70.
I found it hard to wrap my head around the character names, especially Beat. In my opinion, I felt this detracted from the story a little bit.
So, why is this book still sitting at page 70?
I felt the female lead character wasn’t engaging enough for me. She’s a little submissive and doesn’t really strike me as a strong female character to lead me through the story. Beat came off as an Alpha Male type which normally I don’t mind, however Melody is more of a follower rather than a rule breaker. I think for this book, being around the type of people they lived with - their mothers are rock stars - I expected a bit more from the story. Perhaps if the book was not a rom-com the story may have stuck better in my mind.
The beginning of this book was really fun and engaging! I was enjoying the story but then it suddenly lost its pacing. The sex scenes felt disjointed.
I'll have to admit this wasn't my favourite of Tessa Bailey's, however it was still a fun xmas read! I would still recommend this to all who enjoy the author's other reads, or anyone who is wanting a simple xmas romance read.
This particular book comes with a funny story as I ended up with two copies of the title - one from the amazing HarperCollins NZ and the other from The Book Shoppe Box as it happened to be this year's Christmas Book Box Book and what better day to read it than on Christmas Day which I did. I knew I would love it as I am a big fan of Tessa Bailey's books and her quirkiness and characters tend to always hit the spot for me. I had the added bonus with this one too as being part of the Book Shoppe Box, on specific pages, I had lovely little gifts to open making the reading experience just that little bit more memorable this Christmas season. The book starts with two sixteen-year-olds Melody and Beat being interviewed and then the book jumps to the present time in December when they are both now 30 years old - well Melody is almost 30 as she is two months younger than Beat. 30 years ago, their mothers Octavia and Trina were known as The Steel Birds - a famous rock band and they made it big. That was until one day, they called it quits and never spoke about the band, each other, and the reason they quit. Now Beat and Melody have been approached by Danielle who wants to film a reality TV show about getting The Steel Birds reunited and the final episode is them playing together on-stage Christmas Eve - the payout is $1 Million Dollars which Beat needs as he is being blackmailed. Can Beat and Melody work together to get their mothers reunited for one more time and who knows even patch up a little of the past and will Beat and Melody also get a Christmas wish granted as sparks fly between the pair of them? Find out in this awesome Christmas read that everyone should have on their December reading lists - Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey. This book is also one that I could envision being made into a fun Hallmark Christmas feel-good film.
Another smash hit from Tessa Bailey!
I may be biased as she is in my top 5 favourite authors but I always know I can expect a great read from Tessa.
Such a fun plot with some interesting characters with a very detailed back story.
With some of my favourite tropes:
- Forced proximity
- Holiday romance
- One bed
I'm glad I held out till the holiday season for this read.
A cute little RomCom that although wasn't very Christmases was very entertaining and a joy to read.
The story starts off with two kids of x rock stars who after a mysterious ending in their own careers vow to never play in the same rock band again.
But after there kids met years later they can't ignore the sparks they throw at each other.
I was excited to jump into this one for December and read what I knew was going to be a spicy Christmas novel. Unfortunately, this wasn't a Christmas book at all. It felt like it could have been written for any time of the year.
Itwas a cute, fun read but it was a little to Insta love for me with the cringy names of the main characters Melody and Beat.
On a positive Tessa Bailey knows how to write her spicy scenes.
Tessa Bailey is an automatic buy author for me but this time around this one just didn't work
Wreck the Halls is my first read of a Tessa Bailey book and now I can see why her works are so popular.
However, as bingeable as it is, the blend of erotica and saccharine didn’t quite work for me. Also, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that a book marketed as a Christmas romance spent no time in Christmas.
The romance was believable - the chemistry practically sizzled off the page, but I was so sad to see that the whole mission of getting the band together was missed by the protagonists.
As I haven’t read any other books by the author, I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I would definitely consider getting into another other of Bailey’s books in the future.
Thank you Tessa Bailey, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for an arc of this book.
This book was strange for me. I’ve read some 5 star Tessa Bailey books and some 1 star Tessa Bailey books and the key seems to be a connection to the characters. I am able to excuse strange circumstances and weird jokes if the characters are people I am rooting for.
I didn’t care about these characters an inch. The premise is great but the characters were written so flat and so lackluster that I preferred the mums of the characters I was reading about. I actually would have loved this book from their perspective instead watching their kids fall in love.
The sex wasn’t a redeemable quality of this book either, I found myself skipping the scenes and they were very unrealistic which I could maybe excuse with better characters, but with protagonists I didn’t care for the sex was not well written at all.
As always Tessa Bailey a fabulous read
