This book started off great . Full of suspense and intrigue, towards the middle I started to struggle with the story and by the last few chapters I felt that it was just cobbled together. An ok read but not amazing.

This book was slow in the middle and chaotic at the end and very all over the place. Flashbacks were not a smooth transition and I felt a good bit of confusion throughout the book. Overall a no for me.

Good one.
When Rose’s old friend Elise suddenly arrives on her doorstep having just escaped a controlling marriage, she offers her a place to stay. But Elise wants more than a safe refuge, she wants Rose to help her get her daughter back, so that she can truly start afresh with five-year-old Daisy safely in her arms. Every little girl needs her mother, after all. Ready to insert herself into Elise’s old home, Rose gets a job as a teacher, home-schooling Daisy. But when Rose is asked to take the little girl and bring her to Elise, she gets cold feet… Elise’s behaviour is becoming increasingly erratic, and Daisy’s father is far from the monster described…Will Rose take Daisy and return her to her mother, or is the real danger closer to home? Who should she trust?
The secret wasn't that big but it was a good read.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me an advance copy.

Thanks NetGalley and publishers for the Arc of My best friends secret by Karen Clarke.
I was really drawn in by the description and the cover. It has potential, but lost me in parts. Overall all I did enjoy the book and would read more by this author.

When Elise turns up on Rose's doorstep one day asking for help, Rose isn't exactly delighted to see her. Memories of their somewhat variable friendship tell her Elise isn't exactly to be trusted but she's aware that she let Elise down in the past and that she 'owes' her. Elise tells her she has fled from an abusive marriage and that Rose must help her get her daughter back.

This was an enjoyable if somewhat unrealistic read. The plan that Elise has hatched is pretty incredible and it's hard to believe that Rose would go along with it. But she does and soon wishes she didn't. The author does a good job of having us suspecting first one and then another character and Elise in particular is well-drawn.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

my first book from this author. and so, enjoyed. what would you do? when your best friend you not seen for years? Turns up and asks you for help to get their daughter back from her husband. Who she says he cruel and so is his family. This is what happens to Rose her old friend Elise turns up on her doorstep. Rose is a schoolteacher. she left her job to get away from her abusive boyfriend.so she says yes. And gets into the family household. Isaac needs a homeschool. Teacher for Daisy but she gets the feeling she not welcome. Buy the other family members.is someone watching her. And who has secrets? So, gripping a must read

Elise tells her friend Rose that she is no longer able to see her daughter because of her husband, issac. Elise asks rose for help and Rose ends up tutoring Daisy, Elise’s daughter. Will Rose bring Daisy back to Elise? I couldn’t put this book down. There were lots of twists and turns. I never knew what to expect when I turned the page. Thank you NetGalley, Karen and HQ for the ARC!

I was really drawn to the cover of this book. I have read books of hers in the past and find that they all seem to be in the middle. Some really good storylines, some things in the middle that lose my attention, then skipping to the back to find out the ending. Very average thriller.

I couldn't wait for the reveal and unlike some mysteries I actually couldn't guess what was going to happen next. I will definitely check out more by this author.
