An excellent read. So many twists you'll not untwist your brain. One minute you're sure of one thing only for that to be turned on it's head. You're totally sure who the vilian is, but nope that's all wrong too, and oh the ending!
Not a likeable character amongst them which only makes it a better read.
Never was the phrase ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive’, more apt.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture and Rona Halsall for the opportunity to read an advance copy of THE BIGAMIST, to be published 5 July 2023. WOW — 10/10 Stars! This suspenseful novel grabbed me from the Prologue and wouldn’t let go! It was teeming with subtle twists and turns until the OMG finale! This book would be appreciated by readers who love Freida McFadden and James Patterson. This is a must read! #NetGalley. #Bookouture. #RonaHalsall. #TheBigamist
Wow I’ve never read anything by this author before but I shall definitely be reading more now. Beware once you start reading you’ll struggle to put the book down. The characters are great and there’s so much going on and so many surprises along the way. If I could I’d definitely give this more stars then five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ brilliant read
One of the twistiest domestic suspensers with a surprise at every turn! Well done Ms. Halsall!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
This review might seem negative but overall this was an enjoyable thriller. I thought the premise was interesting and it was well written. I will definitely be checking out more from Halsall. This is definitely a page-turner and I flew threw this spicy little thriller like a bigamist flies through marriages (apologies for my corny joke).
I enjoyed some of the twists but thought there were too many by the end. The characters were too busy revealing their twists to the point where the ending crawled and did not have the impact it should have. I wish more time was spent with Zach during the last few parts of the story so the audience knew his character better.
I wish more was shown rather than told. Emma "word vomits" much of her actions to people she tells herself she can't trust. I thought she would do more independently to escape situations she recognized as suspicious.
Loved Faith and Sam and their relationship and wish that the book was told from their POV so Emma's role would be more shocking.
Thanks to Rona Halsall, Bookouture and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC.
Emma meets Faith and her brother Sam at a bereavement workshop and forms a friendship with Faith and a relationship with Sam. The book is told in sections by the different protagonists, and as the story develops, and the perspective of events changes, the motives and actions of the characters become less clear. Some good twists but I thought the ending was a bit off.
I was delighted at having been approved for an advanced readers copy of The Bigamist by Rona Halsall as this was my first book of hers. Plus, it’s not everyday you read about a bigamist.
Emma visits a grief support group after her husband’s accident, having had a potential couple of suicidal ideations. It’s there that she meets a man, Sam and falls in love with him. There are a thousand read flags that the reader is aware of but goes right over Emma’s head. Emma appears to be an unreliable narrator in some parts. She develops a close friendship with Sam’s sister, Faith and becomes pretty dependent on both of them.
Emma’s naivety and redundancy of her situation was a grind to my gears as well as her reactions in the middle half of the book when the secrets begin to surface. I wanted to jump into the pages and shake some sense into her. At about 60% of the book is when characters with humanity come in to play but is snuffed out by Emma’s continued paranoia, the “twist” happens, and I had guessed almost as much of what it was. The story picks up after that by adding Faith’s view point to the storyline. I feel that that was when the entertainment truly began.
This read more as a slow burn domestic suspense for me.
Thank you to the publisher: Bookouture, the author: Rona Halsall and NetGalley for providing me with an early introduction to The Bigamist. Though it was a bit of a let down for me, I find others have a more positive relationship with this book.
It was a true honor to write a candid review. The Bigamist releases on July 4, 2023! I’ll be interested to hear what others think of this suspense!
Finally finished The Bigamist. I liked the Prologue and thought this would be a great “beach read.” However, I found Inwas putting it down several times because there were so many twists and turns that did not make sense. I finally decided I needed to finish the book. I found myself saying what else can happen…I ended up deciding it was like a bizarre dream. Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The opinions in this review are my own.
In the best Rona Halsall fashion… The Bigamist delivers a huge one-two punch! I thought that the story started out with a certain predicability vibe but by part 2…. I knew that Halsall wouldn’t disappoint. I was not expecting the major twists in the second half of the book! Excellent!
A great, great read!! Rona Halsall is SO on form with this, her latest work of psychological fiction. This is definitely going to be a tough act to follow (my future reads are rightly quivering in their boots at the prospect!)
The story is largely, but certainly not exclusively, told from the perspective of Emma, a woman who gets more than she bargained for when she attends a bereavement group for the first time - a whole new husband in Sam! Emma is overjoyed to discover she is pregnant, believing that she has been given a second chance at life, when she has been touched by tragedy in the past. Is it all too good to be true for Emma?! She starts to believe so, when her suspicions regarding Sam's honest start to mount up.
There are some quite spectacular twists in this book - be warned these make it very hard to put this book down!! The plot is gripping, the characters fascinating and the use of smoke and mirrors is pure genius! As for the ending - I loved it!!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!. This was is one of the best books I’ve read in long time. This book was so captivating; one word WOW! It was a fast paced and kept me wanting to find out what happens next a perfect book for psychological thrillers fans alike; from the very first page I drawn in and couldn’t put the book down! The characters were likeable my favourite one was Emma.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book, another cracking book by Rona Halsall. I can’t wait for the next one! 😊
I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Bigamist’ written by Rona Halsall in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
After losing members of her family, Emma goes to a bereavement meeting where she becomes friends with the speaker, Faith Barclay, and her brother Sam. Emma and Sam fall in love and soon after move in together. Emma becomes pregnant with Sam’s baby and as he works away from home a lot she rings his phone which is answered by a woman saying that she’s Sam’s wife and for Emma to stop stalking him. Emma’s shocked that Sam is keeping secrets from her but she shouldn’t complain as she’s keeping secrets from him too.
‘The Bigamist’ is an addictive thriller that’s had me in its grip from page one. It has a complex plot, devious characters that become more chilling as the story progresses, and with the suspense, intrigue and numerous twists and turns has shocked and surprised me in equal measure. When I reached the last few pages the final twist was so unexpected that I was left open-mouthed in disbelief. Yet again Rona Halsall has written an incredible
thriller that’s easy to read and impossible to put down, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
Another brilliant thriller by Rona Halsall. What I love most about Rona’s books is that they are so morose and make you want to keep reading. Every chapter seems to have its own mini cliff hanger that makes you want to read “just one more chapter” and before you know it you’ve read the whole book in under 24 hours, and for me The Bigamist was no different.
Emma meets Sam at a grievance support group and they quickly fall in love, get married and Emma falls pregnant. Sam wants to build his own house for himself, Emma, the baby and the big family they both want in the future. For Emma it seems all her dreams have come true.
Soon doubts start to creep into Emma’s relationship as one day when she phones Sam his phone is answered by another woman claiming to be his wife. Emma’s world is turned upside down in that moment and she starts to wonder if she can really trust the man she is married to. Later Emma discovers Sam is keeping other secrets from her, money is vanishing from their joint account and Sam lies to Emma about the progress he is making with their dream home. Emma becomes convinced Sam is living a double life and plans to uncover the truth.
As the book progresses we soon realise that it’s not just Sam who has secrets he wants to hide, but Emma does as well, and I’d say some of Emma’s secrets are much more shocking than what Sam is hiding. All the way through this book I was convinced that Sam was going to be the most guilty party however I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Around half way through this book there was a massive twist that threw my theories right off course, followed by another one right at the end that I hadn’t expected either. A very clever, well written and twisty thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the read/review of the #TheBigamist by #RonaHalsall. This book was very interesting and definitely not the ending I saw coming.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great thriller. Emma meets Sam at a grief support group where both are mourning the loss of their late spouses. They end up falling in love and Emma becomes pregnant. At that point, everything goes off the rails. The plot twists kept you guessing and the story was very engaging. Just when you think you know what is going on, you find out you absolutely don't.
Just like Halsall to keep me entertained and up late!
The Bigamist by Rona Halsall is a tense thriller packed full of suspense, lies and deceit and was a very enjoyable read.
This book is an absolute page-turner, delivering an engaging narrative and a unique twist that I never saw coming.
The characters are so flawed and realistic.
It's an easy read that keeps your attention from the get go. Rona Halsall is an author to follow.
She's extremely talented and her characters are relatable.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
WOW!!! What a book! As with other of Rona Halsall’s books I was ass backwards with what would eventually be revealed. I was hooked from the first page. This is her Best Book Yet in my opinion. I have a book hangover. Please write your next book fast. I can’t wait to read it. Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
I love reading thrillers with mind-blowing twists and unreliable narrators. They simply play with one's mind and you can't help thinking about the plot even when you are not reading the book. That's the kind of games this book played.
The characters were all grey, the twists unpredictable and the pace just to my taste. The Bigamist was an irresistible thriller with multiple parallel storylines. Each character was carved beautifully into the plot. They were all so different shades of grey justifying their actions and blaming the circumstances.
The story explored relationships between couples, friends and in-laws and they were all so twisted. The story yet again highlighted the importance of good parenting. A troubled childhood can lead to a difficult adulthood.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ wow!! This book grabs you from the start and doesn't let go till the very end! Just when you think you know which direction it's going, it switches and does a complete 360. Definitely need to add to the TBR!
Holy moly cannoli! This book really took me by surprise! It was a banger. I kept gasping every few chapters. There was never a dull moment. I really had no idea what to expect. Brava!!
