The Bigamist
A completely addictive and gripping psychological thriller with an incredible twist
by Rona Halsall
“The Bigamist” is a twisty book by Rona Halsall. In this book, I was never sure who to trust!! Everyone was suspect, everyone. Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for my ARC of this.
Fascinating story with many twists and turns, loved the multiple points of view of different characters and the story arc was interesting
Definitely would recommend for new and existing thriller genre readers
Great read! I always enjoy Rona Halsall. And this one does not disappoint. Lots of mind games and creepy cat and mouse. I consider this to be both a domestic and psychological thriller. Great timelines and fabulous characters! This one kept me up way past my bedtime.
Thank you NetGalley, Rona Halsall and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thank you @bookouture for sending me over an advanced copy of the new book by @ronahalsall 🌟📖
Really enjoyed this one, I’ve never read a book before where my opinion of the main character changed so many times!
Star Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Bigamist by Rona Halsall. Release date: 5.7.23
“I’m sorry, Sam’s not available,” says the woman who answers my husband’s phone. I can’t place her voice, so I politely ask who she is. Her answer sends my world spinning out of control: “I’m his wife.”
I know I want to marry Sam the moment I meet him. After I lost my beloved mother so suddenly, this charming, softly spoken architect with his deep-brown eyes is just the fresh start I’ve been searching for.
I’m delighted to be expecting our first child before we’ve even had a chance to plan a honeymoon. I want our family to work so I try to ignore his long work trips. I turn a blind eye to the private calls he takes and I listen to his excuses about why the money keeps disappearing from my bank account. After all, he has no idea what I’ve been doing in our house whilst he’s away or how I really made that money.
Then I find out Sam’s got more to hide than I ever imagined was possible. Because my husband is leading a double life. He’s already married to someone else.
But what Sam doesn’t know is that he’s not the only person keeping secrets.
And he has no idea how far I’ll go to protect myself…

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC!
Trust no one and believe nothing!
This is def one of the best books I have read this year. The story pulls you in right from the start and the twists keeps you hooked. This book is shocking and addictive!
The characters are well developed that you don't see the twists that are coming. Specially Emma (FMC).
Emma was relatable in the beginning- struggling with grief and then became insufferable; the ending made sense.
Faith was a sweetheart and then you discover her true nature. A wolf in sheep clothing...
Just an amazing book overall, a def must read for anyone who likes thrills and suspense. You will def try to connect the dots at the end.
This is the book version of a 90s Lifetime movie and I mean that as the highest compliment! It has absolutely everything babies, cheating, fraud and twist after twist until you don’t even care if it’s believable you’re just along for the ride! The short chapters made it too easy to keep reading just one more. Perfect weekend read - I couldn’t put it down.
I enjoyed this book but I wasn't gripped! It was a good story with loads of twists but for me, something was missing.
A psychological thriller that keeps you on your toes with the twists and turns.
'She'd discovered that you couldn't step out of one life and into another'.... 'And decisions made in the past would come back to bite you on the present'
Synopsis
Attending a bereavement group, Emma meets Sam, someone who is in the same position as her. As their relationship grows, things move very quickly and Emma starts to question if Sam is telling the truth about everything. But is Emma also holding onto secrets?
Thoughts
A fast paced, suspenseful, keeps you on your toes book - one where you think you've got it figured out and then another twist comes around.
Everyone has secrets, but these secrets are filled with lies and dangerous intentions.
A fast pace and lots of twists and turns that took me on a roller coaster ride with this book. Suspense is an understatement, and just when I thought I had figured out where this was going it changed again...
only one thing was that the book ended abruptly for me, either leaving it open for a second book or leaving the reader wondering what would happen next.
I was engrossed in the book, anticipating how each twist and turn would work out. Thank you for a great read
There are so many twists to this book! Even the title is a twist! Emma loses her husband and marries Sam and becomes preg. It doesn't take long before she is finding out he is hiding things from her. What is he hiding? What is she hiding? Good suspense. GREAT Ending!
Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This was a page turner for sure. One twist and turn after another. Most of the book I was really interested and it was exciting until late in the book it was way too much. One thing after another happens that’s way out there. It was still exciting and a thriller.
There are two things to know when you start to read The Bigamist. First, no one is who they seem to be. Don’t forget that. And the second thing? You won’t be able to put this one down. Here we go.
Too many deaths have led Emma to a bereavement support group. There, she meets speaker Faith’s charming brother Sam and they quickly fall in love. Sam, an architect, pressures her to marry quickly when she discovers she is pregnant and rents them an isolated cottage in the Lake District. Using her insurance benefits from her husband’s accident, Sam had designed a beautiful country home for them and hopes to have it finished before the baby is born. But something seems off. Why does Sam have out of town trips on the same four days every week? Why does Emma keep having dangerous accidents when she is alone? Who is trying to contact her? And who answers Sam’s phone and says she is his wife? Hold on! All this and more will be revealed in this complicated mystery.
The Bigamist is full of twists, turns, shocks and surprises. You think you have figured it out but you are wrong. There is one last surprise! 5 stars.
Thank you To NetGalley, Bookouture and Rona Halsall for this ARC.
Wow! Who is the Bigamist him or her? What would you do if you called your husband and a woman answered and said he wasn't available and when you asked who was speaking and she told you that she was his wife? Shocked is to say the least. What is going on? So many twists and turns and might be a little slow in places but keep reading because you won't be disappointed. This is a really good read with many wow moments and surprising ending. A must read for those that love phycological reads. Thank you NetGally!
Packed with entertaining twists and shocks, this is perfect for fans of domestic suspense. It will do well.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an independent review.
Wow oh wow. Forget what you think you know and the story will amaze you. Not my first book that I have read by the author and my admiration grows with each book.
Totally unexpected twists.
Loved it and totally recommend it. KO
Excellent read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt it was predictable at first, but I was absolutely wrong… there was so many surprising twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down. The characters were well developed and the structure of the book split into parts helped to add to the pace and the plot.
Thank you @netgalley for the free copy of the book!

This has to be a contender for my book of the year. I absolutely loved it. There were so many twists and turns that the author was constantly surprising me.
Emma met Sam at a bereavement group. After a short romance they are married and expecting their first child. They have moved to Appleby to build their dream home than Sam designed. Late on in her pregnancy Emma calls Sam. A woman answers who says she is his wife. The floor fails from under Emma. Her marriage isn’t what she thought. But then again Emma has been keeping secrets from her husband. In uncovering Sam will she reveal hers.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC
If you're after a book with a lot of twists and turns The Bigamist is for you. Emma is happily married, expecting her first child. All seems to be going smoothly until it is definitely not. Every time the story seems to be going in one direction it throws in a big twist and things head somewhere else entirely.
I would definitely recommend The Bigamist to fans of psychological thrillers.
Rona Halsall is one of my favourite authors, and this book did not disappoint.
Emmas husband, Sam, is working away from home, as he does for part of every week. Emma rings him, a womans voice answers the phone. A puzzled Emma asks who she is, only to be told....I am Sams wife, who are you?
Emma knows Sam has some secrets from her, another wife wasn't one of them, but then, Emma has secrets of her own. How far is she willing to go to protect herself, and find out exactly what is going on with Sam?
Full of secrets and lies, the twists and turns in this plot kept me guessing right up until the last page, I didn't see the ending coming. It is an addictive read, a real page turner I had difficulty putting down. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
5 stars +.
