This authors books just keep getting better and better. I know that once I start one of this authors books nothing else
Will get done until I have finished. This was a fast paced psychological thriller with a great story line. Who is telling the truth. Who is the bigamist Lots of twists and turns and shocks as the story unfolded.
This would make a great tv dramatisation.
4.5 stars rounded up. This was the epitome of a popcorn thriller, I finished it in just a few hours. From the very start, the plot is shocking, twisty, and addictive. It immediately pulls you in and whenever I felt it start to slow down, I was sucked right back in. Every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, everything flipped upside down. While I did have a few of the twists figured out, there were so many that I did not expect. I'm pretty sure I gasped and said "WHAT?!?" multiple times throughout. Trust no one and believe nothing, that's how I felt while reading. I would have loved even more to the ending but it was still mostly satisfying. Told in multiple POVs and very fast paced, this is a solid mystery/thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Bookouture, for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Bigamist was a wild ride full of twists and turns. I absolutely loved this book and was not expecting all the twists.
Heavily pregnant Emma is flipping through a magazine in her doctor's office when she notices something strange. An original painting that she owns is shown hanging on someone else's wall. Reading the accompanying article, she finds that the wall in question is in a house designed by her architect husband. When she rings him to ask him what is going on, his phone is answered by another woman - a woman who claims to be Emma's husband's wife. Is her husband a bigamist? And what secrets does Emma herself hold?
This book is a wild ride! It goes in directions I absolutely did not expect. I flew through it in an afternoon and I was never bored. However - and this is a big however - complete suspension of disbelief is necessary to enjoy this book. Frankly, people simply do not act like this book shows them as doing. It is very unrealistic! Whether or not this is a dealbreaker determines whether or not you will enjoy this book.
I had super high hopes during the first half of this book but things sloped downhill after that for me. That being said I did appreciate the huge twists in this book. The transitions of the book just weren’t smooth enough to paint a clear story and had me pausing and going back to make sure I didn’t skip something. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!
Thank you to Booksture and Netgally for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this thrilling roller coaster by Rona Halsall.
Make sure you have nothing to do when you pick up this book because it will suck you into the drama and the darkness and leave you wondering who is actually trustworthy .....if anyone!?
Emma , recently widowed, meets and eventually falls for Sam at a bereavement group.
What should have been a wonderful new life is, in fact, filled with deceit and danger.
The author knocked this one out of the park.
How far will you go
to get what you want?
Rona Halsall’s is one of my reliable go to authors that I know I can trust to entertain. “The Bigamist” is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that I was instantly into and pulled me in from the very start.
Emma falls deeply in love with Sam and everything seems perfect. Sam is charming and their whirlwind romance and impending parenthood make the future look rosy. But is Sam too good to be true?
Once again Rona Halsall paces the story expertly, building up the suspense and making it impossible to put the book down. Lots of twists and turns as I have come to expect from this author and the tension is increased as each page is turned as we get to learn the truth about Sam.
The characters are well developed and interesting and the writing is engaging and fast paced. The short punchy chapters help build up the tension as well as keeping the pace up. All in all this is another excellent read as I fully expected when I picked up the novel.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Unputdownable psychological thriller. I was kept guessing as to what is going on, the lies, suspicions, fears and anxieties plaguing the main character. The ending took me by surprise. Highly recommend reading this one!
The amount of times Rona Halsall’s The Bigamist gave me whiplash is insane! You’ll think you’ve figured it out a few chapters in, and, like me, you’ll want to toss it aside because, this is so predictable, BUT it’s not! Every time I thought I knew how it was going to end, I was wrong. I actually had some shocked moments where my mouth just flew open because what?! The twists, the mind games, ugh! I thoroughly enjoyed this ride. You immediately want more in the end, but honestly, the more I think about it and write this review, the more I realize that the ending was actually perfect. I don’t need to read more. That insane and loose cannon ending left such a haunting and suspenseful taste in my mouth. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star rating was because I felt Sam needed more character development and just Sam and Emma’s relationship didn’t seem believable to me. Eventually, I just accepted that they met, liked each other, and got married. I went along with it for the sake of the story. I wasn’t happy about it, though, because I wanted more depth to their relationship. What was it about each other that made them fall for one another? It was just too rushed for my liking. Overall, though, aside from that part, I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend it!
Once I started this I couldn't put it down. At all. Not even for a minute.
It was the ultimate mind scrambling book. Our girl falls in love at grief counseling with a handsome architect and starts signing her life over to him. She wants a baby and a family and is not being careful.
He isolates her and strange things keep happening, little fires and other things like that.
Oh and she's pregnant.
The story unrolls and there are a bunch of twists!
This was amazing.
Oh my goodness, what an incredible, twisty and compelling read! Cleverly narrated through several viewpoints – I don’t want to identify them all because it will spoil the delicious twist – with so many secrets and lies it’s hard to know who to trust. Rona is a skilful storyteller and knows how to weave a tangled web that will keep you dangling right up to the jaw dropping ending. This fast-paced thriller is not to be missed.
had the absolute honour in reading an ARC copy of The Bigamist by Rona Halsall. So I wanted to share an honest review with you and why I think you need to purchase this on 5th July 2023.
We follow Emma as she learns to live with grief of a love lost. She soon meets charming, talented yet mysterious Sam, who also shares in his own measure of grief. But not all is what it seems.
Is marriage even sacred anymore?
I was really gripped by this book. About 10 chapters in I started to questions my own morals. The characters are so twisted (in a fantastic way) but I honestly was lost for a bit. It slowed down throughout part 2 but by the start of part 3 I was captivated again.
Halsall’s writing really is fantastic. To have the ability to make you love and hate a character and then to love to hate the character is a crazy experience to have. I only wish to be able to experience this book for the first time again.
The twists were perfect and done masterfully. The author didn't try to drag the cliffhanger on like other authors and she also didn't have a million tropes that were overwhelming and buried the plot. I will be reading more books by her. I didn't really like Emma as a character bc she is unlikeable and very needy plus her rash choices and ignoring not red flags but red blimps was frustrating.
I recently read the book "Bigamist," and unfortunately, it left me feeling disappointed. One of my main concerns was the lack of authenticity in the characters. They came across as overly fake, and their connections and the way they met seemed contrived and forced. The author seemed to go to great lengths to make the reader believe one thing, only to reveal something entirely different, which felt excessive and unnecessary.
The ending of the book did little to clear up the confusion I had throughout the story. Instead of providing a satisfying resolution, it seemed to deliberately throw the reader off track. This attempt at surprise fell flat and only added to my frustration.
Overall, "Bigamist" was a letdown. The way the story tied up felt unsatisfactory, leaving me with lingering questions and a sense of dissatisfaction. I had hoped for a more engaging and cohesive plot, as well as characters that felt genuine and relatable.
This book was a roller coaster ride of suspense and surprises. I loved how the story kept me guessing until the very end. The characters were realistic and relatable, and the plot was fast-paced and engaging. This was a short but satisfying read that left me wanting more. If you're looking for a thrilling and twisty story, this is the one for you.
This book took me by surprise with all of the plot twists and turns. I felt like more details could have been shared with the readers to make it more informative and enjoyable.
I was really enjoying this book, and set to finish it in a day. Sadly, the twist at the 50% mark annoyed me and I had to stop reading. I usually enjoy an unreliable narrator but it seemed to out there given her previous thought processes ... but I can see that a lot of people would enjoy it, so I've given it 3 stars and wouldn't discourage others from giving it a go.
Absolutely gripping! I loved the storyline, I thought it was very fresh and new. The characters were great and the book is jam packed with twists and turns
“The Bigamist” is a twisty book by Rona Halsall. In this book I was never sure who to trust - the new husband, the narrator, the sister-in-law, the ex-boyfriend, the land lady (if there was a dog, I’m not sure I could’ve trusted him either!) - and who was hiding secrets. I found a little bit of the story a bit far fetched, but what makes a good story is where it could be possible, given the perfectly placed situation - and Ms. Halsall did a good job on pulling some of those occasions off pretty well. This was a fast and enjoyable read.
