This fast-paced story combines drama and intrigue, with plenty of twists to keep readers guessing. The characters are well-developed, and the plot weaves in secrets and surprises, though some of the reveals may feel a bit obvious. Fans of dramatic, character-driven stories will find plenty to enjoy here.
Fern Michaels’s book Liar! is the story of siblings Luna and Cullen. An armoire and the message “Help Me” carved inside of it set the mystery in motion. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this well-written thriller about the secrets, family, romance, and mystery.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. Great story! This book had a little of everything! Mystery, thriller, suspense even supernatural phenomenon. I wasn't aware this was part of a series when I began reading. I will be reading the rest for sure!
This is book 3 in the Lost and Found series. An armoire that comes into Luna and Cullen's furniture shop gives off some disturbing vibes. Luna has always been able to connect to old furniture and inside she minds Help Me carved into the wood. I like this series but it seems that Luna and Cullen are very secondary characters in this book. Luna wants to find out what happened and is lead to an old unsolved kidnapping case. The story is a good one, just seems too long.
Luna, Cullen and Chris are back at it again, but this time they’re more along for the rise rather than major players, which makes it more interesting.
The story really centers around Camille, Chad & JR, and centers around friends, friendships, personal growth and bringing things into the light or keeping them hidden.
An exciting fast paced action-adventure story that is totally in my wheelhouse. Luna is a psychic. When she finds herself inside an old armoire that her brother just acquired at auction, it speaks to her of a decades old kidnapping case that was never solved. With her friends and especially her U.S, Marshall boyfriend, it is finally time to put the mystery to rest.
The story weaves the past and present flawlessly giving us an excellent background on what was going on during the time the kidnapping and rescue happened and the current time as Luna and her friends investigate the clues and follow the trail. Will justice finally be served?
The author brings one of my favorite cities to life as the friend's shop, eat and explore the city. It brought alive a time when I visited with a few of my friends and stayed in Manhattan exploring the city. Of course, along the way, they are looking to solve an old mystery.
They know who was kidnapped, they know a ransom was paid, they have now discovered that the kidnapper removed the young man in the armoire which had Help Me written on the inside. Then what happened? the truth is surprising but not unexpected. I don't want to spoil the suspense so I will refrain from saying more about the story other than to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Fern Michaels is a favorite author of mine and this is the 3rd book in the Lost and Found Series. I enjoyed the books, side stories were the best parts of the series.. I didn't click with the characters, a bit old fashioned and eccentric. I loved the Texas, Vegas, and Kentucky series by this author so much more. So rich in wonderful characters and storylines.
I have reviewed several books from this author, each better than the last. However, this is the first one I’ve read of this series. I was hooked on the first page and I couldn’t put it down.
The story spans over a twenty-year period and is presented in three sections. Part one introduces the Pierce family, a wealthy family in the banking business. All seemed well in their posh lives until their eighteen-year-old son was kidnapped from his New England boarding school. Throughout this portion, I had a nagging feeling that something about the situation wasn’t quite right.
In part two, a whole new set of characters was introduced. They were a quirky group of fun-loving artists who came together to form a multifaceted art complex. Luna, the character who most often had me in stitches, had psychic abilities that often got her into mischief. Her brother Cullen was often pulled into her many mysterious capers. In this case, a carved message was found in an antique armoire that Cullen had acquired. Luna had ‘some feelings’ about the armoire, thus leading them on a mission to find the answers.
In the third portion of the book, parts one and two meld together and the mystery was solved.
The writing was suburb, the characters well developed, the story unique and held my attention from beginning to end. However, I expected a more climatic ending in which legal restitution was made by the guilty party. From another vantage point, it did show how sins of the past tend to catch up with us. The happy ending was that restitution was made between the guilty party and his family and life was as it should be.
Thank you to the author Fern Michaels, Kensington Publishing Group, and NetGalley for allowing me to review this ARC. All thoughts and moments are entirely my own.
Book #3 in the Lost and Found series. The series is based on a brother and sister team that try hard to stay away from trouble but something always draws them in. The background community and characters are very well written and add an extra dimension to the stories. LIAR! is written a little differently than the first two books. The siblings do not come into the story until the 25%-33% mark. At that point, the story line speeds up and is much more enjoyable. As the mystery unravels, it will become clear that the past crime was not as it was portrayed and our amateur detectives will again find themselves using all of their resources to figure out exactly WHO DID IT?
I so wanted this to be a great read. Unfortunately it was not. The premise was good, but there was just so much blather in the beginning, then finally getting to the characters I wanted to hear from. I'm kind of invested in this series, but not sure that I'll continue. I wanted more from Luna and Cullen.
Easy to figure out mystery and it was not awful...just not a great read for me.
Thanks to Kensington and Net Galley for the ARC. The review is my own.
What a ride. I read 60% of this book in one sitting and I would have read more but I had to work. Every Fern Michaels book I've read has been great and this one was no different. The first third of the book is very fast paced and then slows down a little, then ramps back up. It's easy to keep up with even though it's being told from the past and then the present.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this in advance.
Luna often gets feelings from the antiques her brother Cullen acquires for restoration. When she finds the word help carved into the back of an antique armoire, Luna traces it to a New England military school and a twenty year old kidnapping.
Third in the series. Lots more narrative than action and an easy to guess mystery make this vintage Fern Michaels.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This unfortunately not one of my favorite Fern Michaels book. At first when I started reading, I wondered if I had been reading the wrong book. It takes what feels like half the book to the actual book. And by that time, the mystery/twist was quite obvious. There were some redeeming parts, I enjoy Luna and Cullen, but they didn’t seem to shine here. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.
This was a quick read by Fern Michaels told in three separate parts. Each part weaves together a piece of a story that spans 20 years. Part one describes a family and the kidnapping of their 18 year old son from his boarding school. Part 2 introduces a different set of characters, and an old armoire with a message carved inside. In part 3 all the pieces come together. While the plot flowed easily, it was also extremely predictable, but the story make for an enjoyable read. I love the characters, although Luna is my favorite.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I've been reading Fern Michaels since I began nearly 10 years ago.
Fern is from my neck of the woods and so I enjoyed seeing local areas mentioned however, in this case there wasn't a local connection nor a strong character connection.
I was hoping to fall in love with this brother/sister duo of Luna and older bro Cullen especially upon the setting with a armoire etched with intriguing detail.
However, as it played out we learned about the wealth status for the elite, the abduction, and the consequent damage control that played out.
Kidnapping usually stirs up the pot and this was no different but it didn't lead me to want to come along for the ride nor the steal.
Gambling debts, criminal activity, and ransom are some of the highlights but for me it fell flat in the end.
Thank you to Fern, the pub, Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
This is an easy read and not hard to guess at mystery. It is the third in the Lost and Found series but can be read as a stand alone. The first third of the book, tells a kidnapping story, and gives family background for the family involved. Finally Luna Bodman and her brother Cullen come into the story. They refurbish furniture and solve mysteries. When they get an old armoire Luna finds the words “Help me” scratched into the wood. She brings in her friend US Marshall Christopher Gaines. He helps them track down the original owner.
I thought too much time is spent on the story set up. I kept waiting for Luna and Cullen to come on the scene. This is a very mild mystery. No one is menaced or threatened. I’m not sure I would have read it had it not been written by Fern Michaels. But I do like cozy mysteries. Thank you to Kensington Books and Zebra for the ARC via NetGalley. And I am leaving an honest review. (3.5 Stars)
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Luna and her brother own a furniture shop. Luna enjoys working with old furniture and trying to figure out its story. When one piece call to her it sets up a chain of events that someone wants buried. I enjoyed this book.
Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, Action, intrigue, mystery, revenge, kidnapping, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
This book is told in 2 parts. The 1st sets up the back story for part 2. This is the 3rd book in the Lost and Found series but the characters from that series don’t show up until the 2nd half of the book. It is a fast easy mystery with a predictable ending, but still enjoyable. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
What a delightful read that is. Liar by F. Michaels is the third book in the Lost & Found Series, published by Kensington Books. Every book is an inter-connected stand-alone. The books are best read in order. The previous books are Hidden and Secret.
Chad and Camille Pierce are a couple that have everything. Health, wealth, a son, you get the picture.
But under the surface brews a net of lies, secrets.
This slow burn has everything I love in a good read, suspense, characters easy to connect with, twists and unexpected turns that had me guessing til the last page. A fantastic read.
