As expected, Victoria Laurie has done it again! She spins a story in a way that leaves you guessing until the very end. Not just that, but she makes you fall in love with her characters.

A great story!

Cat and Gilley once again are in another murder mystery. Same silly drama and antics but Texas-style. Gilley has found true love. Cat is hiding from true love. All in the middle of Texas Rose-Bowl like parade. It is formulamatic but that is the appeal of Victoria Laurie's series. Solid good fun with great characters.

Another great read by Victoria Laurie. I love the quirkiness of her characters. While I do like the paranormal elements of her books more, this is still a solid book with very likable characters. It does get a little cheesy at times, but that's really part of the charm.

Ahhhhh the Cat & Gilley series seems to be coming to a close. I have to say, Cat grew on me; I didn't enjoy her as Abby's sister throughout the still going Psychic Eye series (which I HIGHLY recommend) but I enjoyed her as her own character in her own series. I missed the psychic twist to things, which is what brought me to Victoria Laurie but if you enjoy cozy mysteries, you'll enjoy this crime solving duo.

Thank you netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

💕 A cute little cosy mystery, the FMC (Cat) was annoying at times but there was a great cast of characters and plenty of drama!

I’ve been reading this author for many, many years, and I love everything she’s written including this new installment in the Life Coach Mystery series. Cat and Gilley have such a strong relationship with each other, and I wish everyone had such a relationship. This latest has Cat really wrestling with a life decision but puts it off to, of course, solve the latest mystery. I loved the glimpse of the fashion industry, and the situations Cat and Gilley go through to get to the end. I love where they are now in life, and I hope that are many more mysteries to come. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Cat and Gilley are up to there old tricks again in this fifth installment. Murder and mayhem are front and center at the Tyler Texas rose festival.
Gilley’s new Beau is a costume designer for the festival. When his assistant is murdered Cat and her friend are snooping into the case as usual.

“This is Texas, honey. We give hugs here!”

Gilley giggled like the Pillsbury Doughboy and squeezed her back.

Cat fled the Hamptons after Shepherd surprised her with something she couldn’t handle.
This almost felt like this was the last book the way it ended and if it is I’ll be sad to see it go. Just the right amount of humor and cozy mystery this author is known for. If your in need of a lighthearted funny story this is it.

This is actually my first time reading any of the books in the series. I can't wait to go back and start at the beginning!
I'm in love with the characters.

If you like a "cozier' type of mystery, without blood and gore this one is for you.
I had it solved fairly early into the book, however sticking with the characters to finish out the story was such a pleasure.
Looking forward to reading more from this author.

It seems like it had been years since the last Cat and Gilley book, but it's just been a year. It also seemed longer because I felt like I missed a book. There are some relationship changes that I didn't recall. Despite my slight disorientation, I enjoyed getting caught up with Cat and Gilley. I don't find this story had any laughs, but it was still light and enjoyable.

The story takes place in Texas and there are some references, but it just lacked some of that "flavor" to me. Still enjoyed the read.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I love Victoria Laurie and I am so happy I got an arc of Cat’s and Gilly’s newest adventure!

This time they’re in Texas where Gilly’s new boyfriend Stuart lives and works. Catherine is avoiding Shepherd after she ran out on his proposal and they find themselves slam dunk in the middle of another murder investigation when Stuart’s assistent is found dead.
Will our sleuthing duo manage to find out who did it without the help of Shepherd? And will Cat finally give the poor man an explanation?

I have loved finding out and spending some time again with Cat and Gil. Ms Laurie can’t write fast enough for me!

Victoria Laurie blends Cat from the psychic Eye series and Bullet from the Ghost Hunter series. A most excellent read. I have enjoyed reading this author and this one continued my delight. With lots of twists and turns and red herrings thrown in, this is a good solid mystery. Thanks #Netgalley and # Kensington for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Coaching Fire is another nicely done mystery by Victoria Laurie. Gilley and Cat continue to be an inspired pairing – in this one Cat, who is avoiding making a major decision in her life, flees to Texas where Gilley’s new boyfriend is in charge of costumes for the Texas Rose Festival. This nicely sets up the murder mystery as there are plenty of people who would love to have that job and are willing to kill for it. The plot isn’t as simple as that – Laurie is too good of a writer for that and throws more than a few twists and turns into the mystery. I thought for sure I knew who the guilty party was but I was only partially right and was totally surprised when all was revealed – very well done by Laurie. Finally, the ending of the book was perfect!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

This was such a great story! It was my first Victoria Laurie novel and I loved it. I had so much fun with the mystery and reading Cats story. I saw this was book 5 in a series and I cant wait to read the other titles!

This book has characters from the authour's other two series. If you haven't read those, find them. This had some awkward moments it seemed and did not flow as well as previous books. Still it was fast paced and a lot happens when Cat and Gilley get involved in a pageant in Texas with Gilley's new beau. It is a fun cozy mystery written by an author that I always make sure to seek out.

Such a great series. I love having an author who I know I can pick up any of their books and I'm going to enjoy. Victoria Laurie is one of those authors and this book doesn't disappoint.
This was a good mystery and I have to say it kept me guessing right til the end. Loved seeing Cat and Shepards relationship moving to the next stage.
Can't wait for the next book!

I loved it! This is one of my favorite authors. Cat and Gil are far from home in this one but still in their element. They are so fun and funny together and such tight friends that they instinctively know what the other needs. There seemed to be some closure in this book that happens when a series winds down but I'm not worried because this author has a way of bringing her characters back time and again. Great mystery!

I loved this book. It’s so great to see Cat and Gilley again. It did take a while to get into the story as I couldn’t remember a lot about the past books. It is a little unclear as to which of the suspects is the killer but all of them are caught so all’s well. I miss the series with M.J. and Abby’s. #CoachingFire #NetGalley

This is a wonderful ending to the Life Coach books by Victoria Laurie. The books pair together Abby Cooper's sister Cat from the Psychic Eye books with MJ's partner Gilley from the Ghost Hunter books. As I said, this this the final book in the series, so it would make sense to start with the first book, Coached to Death, or if you are super ambitious, get your first impressions of the characters from their initial series.

I don't want to give away spoilers, so suffice it to say, Cat and Gilley end up in Texas with Gilley's new beau he met while on their European vacation. Of course, there's a murder and it is up to Cat and Gilley to solve it since the police would rather blame the black man's sister for his shooting. There's a lot of timely things in here related to police brutality, just FYI. There are also quite a few red herrings, so be on the lookout for the real culprit!

A cozy mystery that is a light and easy read.
While reading this, I realized that I am behind in reading this series. There are a few instances where prior books are mentioned, but it did hinder my enjoyment of the book or prohibit understanding the plot in any way.

The characters are enjoyable and the storyline was entertaining.
I recommend this book for anyone that would like an enjoyable mystery.

I am a big fan of this author's Ghost Hunter Series, where we first met the character of Gilley. He was a fun character, often helping with some comic relief from the supernatural theme in that series. In this series, he is more a costar and has really developed his characterization. I love his interaction with Cat, as they work through their personal issues, supporting each other where necessary, as well as solving mysteries. In this story, Cat has run off to Texas to join Gilley and his new beau, Stuart, to avoid facing a serious personal decision. Stuart is in the middle of planning the annual Rose Festival, but unfortunately murder intervenes when one of his crew is killed. Can Cat and Gilley help solve this murder, one that the police are trying to pin on the dead man's sister? I enjoyed their investigation, and twists and turns of this case. My only concern is it felt like the author was wrapping up this series...done delightfully, but I hope we see more Cat/Gilley investigations in the future.
