Listened to this one on audio. I did enjoy listening to this one but I don't think it was one of his best. It was another fast paced story as is Daniels style - I just felt like the story was a bit lack lustre. Most of the action seemed to happen in the last quarter of the book. A bit sinister at the end.

I’ve read several books by this author and always find them enjoyable. I felt that the premise of this book was unique but not unbelievable; online dating and the potential of catfishing have really taken off, and a mother showing concern for her daughter’s relationship moving quickly without having met him or the family is understandable and sets up a great story.

I loved the mother/daughter relationship throughout the book, and had a great time reading. Another great book by Hurst!

Daniel Hurst once again delivers a nail biting thriller. This book will make you think twice about forming relationships with someone you havent met. Looks are deceiving. This one will keep you guessing. Buckle up!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ALC of "My Daughter's Boyfriend" by Daniel Hurst. This was my first listen by this author - the description of the story was right up my alley. I appreciated the narration-they made the story come alive for me. Internet dating is know to create happy unions and also periless outcomes. Which one would this be? I was invested and while I thought I could predict what was going to happen, there were enought characters to keep me on my toes. Ellie's character was a mature level-headed person who was just trying to find love, but was not blind to the events unfolding around her. Nice listen.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Daniel Hurst is always full of captivating story lines and this one was no different. The premise is absolutely excellent! A very twisted story about a girl who wants her mom to meet her boyfriend, whom she has yet to meet as well - and yet- she's in love. Say what? It's true! This book will make you think twice about online dating. Having some common sense would also help, sometimes you want to shake the characters!! I do wish I had a little bit more information within the story, but overall, if you're looking for something quick to fill some time, this book is it.

The narrators were phenomenal at their parts. Absolutely fantastic. I will round up to 3 stars for them.

I will be looking forward to the next one by Daniel Hurst!

This was a quick read and a good thriller. Enjoyable but it rambled on and the ending was predictable. With that said it won’t keep me from reading more of his books though. He is a fine writer.

This was a short yet suspenseful psychological thriller that was a little OTT but super entertaining. I listened to the audio and enjoyed the two narrator’s performances of Dawn and Ellie.

Ellie is 24 years old, working a dead end job and still living with her mother Dawn in England. When she meets handsome Daryl from Los Angeles over the internet, the two form a close bond. Dawn isn't as accepting of this relationship. Who is Daryl? Is he really who he says he is? What dangers might be waiting for Ellie in LA? So when Ellie is invited to go visit Daryl in America, Dawn decides to join her daughter to make sure she's safe.

I'm sure every parent has had this moment of fear for their young daughter when they first tell you they've met someone over the internet and want to go meet them for the first time. I could completely relate to Dawn. Her need to protect her daughter, her worry, her paranoia...it all rang true. Honestly, it felt like I was Dawn and my own daughter was Ellie. Although the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly and definitely had some eye rolling moments, I was glued to the story to know the truth. I also appreciated the set up for the sequel, which I will definitely be reading.

This was my first book by this author but not my last. Thank you to #NetGalley and #BookoutureAudio for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

OMG Ellie is insufferable! Yes I know her dad died and she's young and all that but damn I would want to shake her if I was her mom! Daniel Hurst does it again! This book was a riveting and wild ride!!

I was a little disappointed in this book. The plot was quite predictable and I found most of the characters annoying. The plot centers around a 24 year old girl still living at home with her mother. Her father died young a few years ago. She falls in love with a young man in LA, California and decides to visit him with her mother. But nothing turns out to be quite so perfect in LA and they both end up flying home after 48 hours. It did keep me going until the end.

Ellie has a new boyfriend, but he lives in LA; they also haven't met yet.

Dawn is a widow and wants her daughter to be happy, and if that means flying out to LA to meet her boyfriend she will support her But staying at Harvey and Darren's house is not what it seems and the two may be in danger.

Hurst writes this slightly differently from his usual narratives as I found this slow and wondering when was something going to happen.
I couldn't connect with the character of Ellie as I found her immature for a twenty-four-year-old, I do understand age is simply a number and maturity can be seen through life experiences but I found her childish, even the way the character of Dawn acted towards her I had to keep remembering that Ellie was twenty-four.

This hasn't put me off the author and I will always pick up a book by them, but this is not one of my favourites.

Daniel Hurst has quickly become one of my favorite authors with his quick releases of fast paced thrillers. I really enjoyed this one. I thought the characters were well developed for such a short book and I was really intrigued by the plot. I did think the ending was a bit weak and unimaginative but it didn't ruin the story for me. I would have loved an expansion on the women's time in America and a bit more suspense leading up to their leaving but overall I thought it was well paced. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Bookouture's publicist for inviting me to read this book in exchange for my honest review. I love Daniel Hurst and this proved to be another fun one! My Daughter's Boyfriend sets the stage with the main character, Dawn, and her friend group all sharing about the lives of their new adult children, except Dawn's daughter, Ellie, seems to be the only one not thriving. When Ellie gets an American boyfriend through an online chat platform and all seems too good to be true, it is! The events were completely unbelievable, wild, and at times even predictable, but this story satisfied as yet another unputdownable popcorn thriller. The only criticism I have is that the writing for the American characters' dialogue didn't read/sound American; instead, there were multiple phrases that clearly read British, and those aspects took me out of the story for their inaccuracy. Still, I very much enjoyed this one and I regularly check for new Daniel Hurst drops :)

This was a fun book to listen to whilst on holiday. It is a simple story with a few twists, which are somewhat predictable but nether less make the ending more interesting than could have been. My one annoyance with the writing however, was the treatment of the two young peoples’ characters. They are apparently aged about 24 in the story and yet the author and their parents in the book, treat them as if they are under 18! All that is needed is to change their ages and a few details to prevent this annoying point!

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

The narration on this audiobook fit perfectly for the characters. It was a on the shorter side and very easy to listen to in a single sitting! The book itself felt a little lacking to me. I’m not sure if it’s because I thought there would be more to the story or just that it felt too predictable. I really liked the premise, just wished for some more backstory on all of the characters and maybe a few more chapters at the end, to see the direction the characters were headed.

I enjoyed the first 2/3 of this book but not the ending so much. I felt it dragged out a bit too much for me.

Even though this was fast paced it seemed a little TOO fast paced, the story seemed to go by in a rush without my substance. I didn’t like the characters and found them pretty unbelievable…a 23 year old having to ask her mums permission to things etc.
It just all seemed to farfetched and didn’t seem realistic to me.

This is a good psychological thriller, which I really enjoyed.

The story is about a woman called Dawn and her daughter Ellie, who gets an online boyfriend called Daryl. Dawn and Ellie go to LA to meet him and his father Harvey. Some strange things happen while they are there, and they have to leave their trip early. What secrets are Daryl and Harvey keeping?

The narrators of the book were great, and they did a very good job. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I really liked the premise of this book! It kept me guessing the whole time. I would’ve given it 5 stars if the narrator was better.

I usually love a thriller l but unfortunately I didn't like this one.

There was too much to tell, too little to show. It was obvious from the start where this was going as literally every plot point was telegraphed. The only twist was in the epilogue and it wasn't enough to save this story.

Thank you netgalley for this opportunity.

I’m not sure if I loved or hated this book. I found it to be boring at some points.
The narration was okay, and I did like how the book turned around to be a little more thrilling by the end.
