Another life giving book my Joyce Meyer. I always appreciate the way that the author explains practical ways that a person can apply scripture to their lives. I also love how she challenges without shaming. I recommend this one to those who need some encouragement to press on.

Joyce Meyer's Blessed in the Mess: How to Experience God's Goodness in the Midst of Life's Pain is an encouraging book to read. Five stars.

I'm currently walking through a tough, tough season with my faith being challenged and this book couldn't have been read at a better time. There is a beautiful ethnicity to knowing that someone that came out on the other side stayed the course and came out "on top" just keeping Jesus at the center. While my struggles are different then hers, it is easy to connect with. No matter how many books Joyce writes, it always remains relavent to the reader. A wonderful read when you truly are in the mess.

Life does not always progress the way we want. We experience pain, disappointments, and confusion. Meyer writes that God has not promised us a trouble free life but rather has promised that we will, in fact, have trouble. (John 16:22) The way we live through the trouble is by having a stable foundation, following God's instruction. We remain patient, trust God and stay positive, knowing that something good will come from our experiences.

She knows God does not always deliver us from difficult situations. She uses her own life of childhood sexual abuse and a troubled marriage then her current ministry as an example of what God can do when He takes us through trouble. She also reminds us that we can comfort others because of what we have gone through. (2 Cor. 1:3-4)

She also writes about becoming spiritually mature, about taking responsibility, about being obedient to God and living responsibly in general. She illustrates her teaching with stories from her own life and from the Bible.

Spiritual growth is important and I really appreciate Meyer's teaching on how God uses suffering to accomplish it. I like her way of being so encouraging yet realistic. I do not like her emphasis on the power of the words we speak. She likens our spoken words with the creative ability of God. (1137/3557) That does not sit well with me. I do like that Meyer reminds us our victory is not of ourselves but rather through Christ.

This is an encouraging book for Christians in difficult situations.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Joyce Meyer always shares herself in her books. For me, that is one of the best things about them. She never comes across as a person who lives a perfect life and feels the need to make the rest of us somehow feel lacking. Even after many years as a Christian, she isn't afraid to tell the world she still has struggles living the way she knows she should.

I feel as if every book I read by her helps me in many ways. One of the best things I got from this book was a reminder of how important our words are. How not to use negative language when talking about our struggles. Moreover, Joyce shares how this was a difficult lesson for her and how she still slips sometimes.

This is another 5 star book. I'd recommend anything Joyce writes.

Blessed In The Mess by Joyce Meyers is exactly what I needed to read. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I have been my mom’s caregiver for the last seven years. Through this book I saw myself as one of the Israelites complaining and grumbling, asking forgiveness, and then repeating the same pattern over and over. God sent me blessings but I was so consumed with thinking of what my siblings were not doing instead of what I should be doing I missed so many of them. We all are tested and sometimes we have to keep taking the same test over and over until we pass it. Life is not fair, but God makes wrong things right at the right time. This book is about learning to go through life’s trials and difficulties by trusting and drawing closer to God. It’s about teaching us how to go through life situations and look for the blessings by praying, learning God’s word, and knowing God is good and faithful.

No one gets out of this life without trials or facing hardships. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have OVERCOME the world.” Oftentimes in our mess we focus on the wrong things and miss the blessing because we are inundated with the why’s, and miss out on the good God will bring through it. God doesn’t ask us to understand but to trust Him. When we focus more on the problem than the problem solver, we lose our way and problems overtakes us. In this book, Meyers shares tools on how on how to handle life’s difficulties: TRUSTING GOD even when we don’t understand, praying and believing He will hear us , being steady minded, paying attention to our thoughts/emotions, and having patience.

I will definitely purchase a hard copy and share with friends.

This book isn’t about clutter when you think of a “mess” – Joyce defines a mess as “a problem, a difficult situation, or a complicated set of circumstances.” The book’s goal is to help the readers be better equipped to deal with “messes” when they encounter them. I have been familiar with Joyce Meyer’s written and verbal output for many years. This book doesn’t appear to be a rehash of her prior works. It also isn’t a book that was just converted from some talks she gave. It is a mixture of practical wisdom, real-life illustrations and Biblical teaching, without too much emphasis on any one of these areas.

Joyce makes some personal admissions so you feel that she doesn’t have a “holier than thou” mentality and has tested out what she is trying to advocate. Early on there were two mini-vignettes of other people’s stories, but fortunately, only one other vignette was added later in the book because I didn’t find them very helpful. Joyce has a very good section on forgiveness if you are having a difficult time forgiving someone. Another section I especially liked was the chapter on being careful about what you say. The last part of the book was on the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. Overall, it was a book that should be encouraging and thought/action provoking for believers dealing with challenging situations.

Thanks to NetGalley and FaithWords for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.

I was very interested in reading this book after completing the accompanying YouVersion plan. Written in her signature, straightforward and no nonsense style, Blessed in the Mess by Joyce Meyer, is an encouraging lifeline for anyone having to navigate something messy and difficult. Who among us hasn’t had to do that? Drawing from scripture and personal experience, Ms. Meyer directs readers to face life’s challenges God’s way, with hope and confidence in Him. The lessons shared in this book are simple, living them out is not. Blessed in the Mess is a practical and inspiring guidebook of sorts that encourages readers to take responsibility for the mess they find themselves in, to look for life’s lesson in it, to boldly ask God to do the unimaginable, and to remain positive and grateful while waiting with expectation.

Thank you to NetGalley and FaithWords for this advance digital review copy.

Another good teaching book by Joyce Meyer. We all have stories of the messes we have gotten in. But how we get out of this is the rest of the story. We need to admit our part in the messes we get ourselves into and seek repentance by God and whomever it was against. But also we need to forgive those who have created the mess against us. All this and more is in this book. A good book to teach us how to move on and not stay stuck in the mess. And usually God uses those messes for us to help others going through the same thing we went through. I highly encourage all to read this book.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review.

Blessed in the Mess will become available September 12, 2023.
