The writing is both engaging and lyrical, with vivid descriptions that transport you into the characters’ lives and settings. This novel isn’t just about romance; it’s about the journey of finding oneself through love and connection.
So I didn't realise that this was the 5th(?) book in this series so was absolutely confused at the beginning when it mentioned characters and events that I hadn't experienced as I haven't read the others in the book.
However, I decided to continue trying until we get introduced to our male lead. I instantly hated him and hated how our female main character was described. It was so stereotypical and somewhat offensive that I quickly decided this book was not going to be for me.
It's a simple romance book. I was honestly expecting much more because I've read other book from this author and I loved it, so Love Quest was just a bit disappointing.
The author did a great research on jungle related subjects such as animals and diseases you may find there, I'll gave her that, but other than that was just plain.
I didn't really felt the romance, I didn't connect with characters and I feel like the last bit of drama at the end was just innecesary, only intended to create some tension (didn't make it), even when the results were going to be cliché and stuff.
I thought this was going to be one of my new guilt pleasure, but despite starting very promising the story went on a bit of a too wild path for me. I wouldn’t recommend this book, though another book by the same author might be good. I really enjoyed the first half, then I pushed myself to red the middle section, and eventually ended up finishing the book months later, just to see if it picked up again. By that time this book had completely lost it magic for me.
DNFed at 35%
I couldn’t do it. I tried. First time I wanted to DNF was when they make the comment about women not being welcomed in the navy. This book wanted to tackle misogyny and it just failed. Cause women in expeditions are just a distraction for men and create drama.
The whole interactions between her and this group of men is just weird and gross. Especially cause she pushes for information about the guy that hates her. To the point that she keeps asking question. She find out the name of the ex and start googling the guys ex girlfriend knowing he doesn't want her to know.
The last straw was when one of the guys in the expedition says that main girl and asshole should fuck just so that they stop being nasty and the rest of the group can have a good time.
Bye. I'm done.
"Love Quest" by Camilla Isley delivers a delightful blend of adventure, romance, and humour that will keep readers hooked from start to finish. Winter Knowles, a travel photographer, finds herself in an unexpected predicament when she encounters a naked stranger outside her villa in Thailand. Little does she know, the man she's stumbled upon is Dr. Logan Spencer, her gruff and standoffish jungle expedition leader.
Isley crafts a captivating enemies-to-lovers tale as Winter and Logan clash amidst their quest to discover a lost city of gold. The sparks fly between these two strong-willed characters, leading to a dynamic and entertaining dynamic as they navigate the dangers of the jungle together.
What sets "Love Quest" apart is its perfect balance of adventure and romance. Isley seamlessly weaves moments of danger and suspense with heart-warming and humorous interactions between Winter and Logan. Readers will find themselves rooting for this unlikely pair as they confront their differences and forge a connection in the most unexpected of circumstances.
With its engaging storyline, witty dialogue, and steamy romance, "Love Quest" is a must-read for fans of enemies-to-lovers romances. Isley's writing style is reminiscent of Christina Lauren and Sarah Adams, making this novel a perfect choice for anyone seeking a charming and entertaining romantic comedy.
This book was an okay read but there wasn't anything memorable about it. It also lacked any real depth and character development but I did enjoy it. I didn't realise this book was part of a series and I think that may have been a factor in the enjoyment level. I was missing some info from other books that may have added some depth to this story.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review
This cover is FIRE and would have drawn me in on its own if I didn't already know I wanted it since it's Camilla Isley. I love all her books and this one definitely did not disappoint!
I don't know where to start with this book. I had gotten it as an arc through NetGalley and oof...I hated Logan from the beginning. Hated him and his friends. He hated Winter from the beginning just because his ex screwed him over so that means he must hate all women. She's the only female on this exhibition and right away Logan's friends starting talking about her body and who'd be the one to bang her first. Ew. I was here for the treasure hunt and I didn't get it. Literally went so far left that the "adventure" was kinda thrown in there at the end. They just fell flat for me. Also it's a closed door romance which I was under the impression that it wasn't.
First of all the cover for Love Quest is so cute and I would purchase it based on that alone. This is an enemies-to-lovers romance set in a Thai jungle. An expedition to find the lost city of gold. Winter and Logan have to go through a lot of unfortunate circumstances along the way. I love the banter, adventure, and treasure hunting. If you love movies like The Mummy and the Lost City, this is for you. If you love contemporary romance. I will definitely be reading more of Camilla Isley's books. Thank you netgalley for an arc.
This book was a great mix between romance and adventure! I appreciated the intrigue with Winter and Logan and I LOVED the setting. The book was so descriptive about Thailand I felt like I was there. The book was a refreshing change from typical rom-coms since it included a lot of action/adventure. I loved that Winter's job was a travel photographer. Her relationship with Logan was a little interesting in the beginning and I'm not sure I totally believed the romance but it was fun to read about their route to love and all that occurred during their quest for the lost city. I would love to read more about Winter's adventures being a travel photographer and I hope there will be more in the future! Overall, a 4 star book for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review Love Quest!
Thank you NG for an arc!
This was my first book that I've read from Camilla, and definitely won't be my last! I adore an enemies to lovers rom com. There was humor, tension, action, and romance. I loved how Winter was feisty, and how she didn't take any nonsense from Logan. I loved how they hated each other at first, while at the same time feeling something more.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is like Romancing the Stone meets Indiana Jones and I loved every single second. Dr Logan Spencer is HOT and if I were to go into the jungle (I wouldn't though, I hate bugs and spiders and the heat) I would definitely want him as my guide. The banter between Logan and Winter was fantastic and the way the two of them came together worked so well for me.
This book is also relatively short and would make the perfect summer or vacation read! I highly recommend and I would love to see a novella or something that follows this couple in the future. Imagine all of the adventures these two could go on (and the trouble they would get into!)
This was a adventure romance wth indiana jones vibes. I was happy for advanced copy of this book and liked the nonstop adventure these 2 people had to then realize they need each other to survive. Recommend.
Well, this was a cute and quick read, but that is pretty much all I can say about it.
Because the book is so short, character development (or the natural development of romantic feelings) was basically non-existent. They basically went from enemies to lovers in the span of a couple of pages. We all know I much prefer a slow burn. This could have been a Hallmark movie.
What happened was also very clichéd, I could basically predict it all from the get-go. Also, there were inconsistencies that were a little unbelievable, like how it was stressed how dangerous the jungle was at the start of the book, then when they were actually running for their lives they were basically frolicking around naked in it. Or how 1 antibiotics pill saved the life of one of their crew mates with an infection? Please. Anyway, I liked Winter, she saved the book for me!
Anyway, a quick palate cleanser.
This book was a fun-filled, quirky, enemies-to-lovers romance. There was the perfect amount of action and adventure laced with the romance element that I crave.
There was definitely that grumpy-man element that seems to be working for romance these days. But I found Logan more taciturn than grumpy. The one who seemed really grumpy was Winter. I feel like she may have been a tad more hard on Logan than deserved. Don’t get me wrong–his first impression was awful. But after, I feel like it was just one misunderstanding after another.
However, I really loved how Winter and Logan’s relationship developed throughout the story. It may have started out rough, but by the end I was rooting for them.
All-in-all this story had some great moments of adventure, romance, and the writing was spot-on. It made me want to pick up the rest of the series.
Super cute enemies to frienamies to lovers in the middle of a jungle! What a wild ride! Super fast and easy read. 4 stars
4/5 stars! This is probably one of my favorite Camilla Isley books I've read, largely in part to the stunning cover and comedic chemistry been the main characters. This is a quirky and well-written enemies-to-loves contemporary romance. Dr. Logan is super hot. I loved him and Winter.
