Winter is the travel photographer on a secret mission to find a lost city in Thailand. She keeps bumping heads with archeologist and mission leader Logan, who is annoyed to have a woman on the team. When they find themselves in a bunch of trouble, will they be able to put aside their differences to survive?

This book is part of a series, but you don't need to read them in order to understand whats going on.  After really enjoying The Love Theorem, I quickly ran to request Love Quest as well.  I was not disappointed!   I was presently surprised by this book. It is action-packed and full of adventure.  There really wasn't a dull moment.  Winter is strong, stubborn, and determined.  Logan has a single focus, finding the lost city, and doesn't have time for distractions.  The book was a really quick read, and a lot of focus was on the task at hand.  I wouldn't have minded it being longer to really draw out the tension between the two characters. This was a great second installment, and I look forward to book three.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The perfect palate cleanser after finishing a heavy HistFic read, this book is SO MUCH FUN.

My thoughts:
Hilarious one-liners, a fast-paced plot that kept me turning the page; great supporting characters; well-written action sequences. This is a MUST READ for fans of Romancing the Stone and The Lost City. Can't wait to read more from this series.

Also:
I really don't understand the criticisms of Logan in some of the other reviews. He has a heart of gold and is a marshmallow under that gruff exterior. This comes to light around 1/4 into the book, so those are baffling comments, unless those readers didn't read the whole book - and even then, characters are layered and this author does a great job of fleshing out Logan with a detailed backstory and clear set of motivations and objectives.

Thank you to Boldwood Books, Camilla Isley, and NetGalley for a copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

As a photographer myself, I was DEEPLY intrigued by the cover, and description that the wonderful Winter was also a photographer! An adventure in Thailand with photographic elements... and ROMANCE?? Sign. Me. Up!

Logan and Winter are definitely opposites that attract. Logan is more of a grump who's very sexist and overall very unlikeable. I personally feel he never really redeemed himself in this story - and there are definitely some cliche and dramatic moments that took away from the overall premise for me.

This was a shorter book, and the fast pace made it easy to get through. The adventure aspect was fun, but overall I felt this one fell short.

The romance was fade to black, and their initial chemistry was off kilter. The funny moments and unpredictable thrill that came along with the story made up for this.

Read if you love:

-Adventure! Indiana Jones and Lara Croft Vibes

-Rom Coms

-Thrills

-Forced Proximity

-Opposites Attract

-Grumpy/Sunshine

-Dual POV’s

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review!

As a huge Indiana Jones fan, I was so excited for this book! This was a fun read with enemies to lovers and treasure hunting that made me fall in love with the Winter immediately while Logan had to grow on me. I ended up reading it in one sitting because it was short and sweet, and the life and death situations the characters get in kept me on the edge of my seat. I wish it was longer, and I didn't realize it's part of interconnected stand alones so I wish I read book 1 first. Overall if you're looking for a fun, adventure filled read then definitely pick this one up. Heads up it is fade to black which with a cartoon cover and the amount of times each MC talks about the others body was super disappointing to me.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved every second of this book, and couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting!

Logan and Winter meet on the cusp of a dangerous trek into the jungles of Thailand searching for a lost town of gold. As an archeological professor Logan is leading the trek; and Winter is taking photos of the journey.

Let’s just say along the journey this rom com turns into more of a thriller. Lost in the jungle, injured, and held captive by their own comrades. Logan and Winter must work together to rescue their friends and save the lost city of gold. Will sparks fly as they’re stuck alone in the jungle, supplies are dwindling down, and they’re awaiting rescue.

This story had it all; romance, comedy, suspense, and a HEA. Can’t recommend this story more!!

Love Quest by Camilla Isley is a romcom and the story of Winter and Logan.

Winter is a photographer and Logan is a professor of archeology and these two meet in Thailand when they must work together on a mission. These circumstances provided such a great forced proximity situation and these two find love when they least expect it. Logan oftentimes is this grumpy ass, but after a while I really started liking him. Winter is the polar opposite, and she is a bubbly and friendly person. And the two complement each other perfectly. Their romance is starting off slow, but it’s a very cute story. I also enjoyed seeing Winter‘s relationship with her friend Lana and her sister and I’m definitely interested in reading their stories as well.

The setting in Thailand was what made this book unique, and it was so cool. I loved seeing parts of this country and especially the jungle and temples bring out the adventure. I felt like I was right there with the characters and highly enjoyed that. If you want some Lara Croft and Indiana Jones vibes combined with a romcom, check out this book.

Overall, Love Quest is such a fun story filled with adventure and love. 4 stars.

Love Quest is a story that caught my eye because of the fun, colorful cover and the blurb promising enemies-to-lovers on a jungle expedition in search of a lost city of gold. And it delivered! This was a really fun, quick read that I finished in a day.

While I really enjoyed the story overall, I do have some mixed feelings as well. So let’s dive in with a pros and cons bullet list, shall we?

Everything I loved:

- The fun setting: An archeological jungle expedition in search of a lost city of gold… I mean, what’s not to like? I really loved this fun and unique setting.

- The adventure and fast pace: I read this in a day as it was a quick and easy read that was full of action, adventure and shenanigans from page 1, so I just wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next.

- The enemies-to-lovers / sunshine-grump trope: I’m a sucker for this trope and this was no exception. The banter between Winter and Logan was quite entertaining. Though I also had some issues here and there (see cons list), I still enjoyed it overall.

- Dual POV’s: We follow both our main characters, Winter and Logan, as they each get their POV and it really added to the reading experience. Though I LOVED Winter’s POV as she was very sassy and fierce, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this quite as much if it had only been her POV.

- Fun side characters: I liked getting to know the other members of the expedition, especially Archie and Tucker, who are also Logan’s best friends. Their banter was hilarious and I loved seeing the whole group develop a friendship throughout the story.

Everything I loved a little less:

- Logan’s introduction and reason for the enemies-to-lovers: Honestly, Logan came off as a real misogynist at first, someone who didn’t want women on his team as they would be a “distraction”. That part had my blood boiling a bit and it definitely impacted my enjoyment of the romance for a while. It got better near the end and I get that the author wanted to have a reason for our two main characters to be enemies, but I would have preferred if this was done in another way.

- I missed some depth: As I said, I do love that it was a quick, fun read, but on the other hand it was a bit too quick. I would have preferred it to have been a bit longer so that a few more layers could have been added to the characterization, motives, and romance as they all felt a bit one-dimensional and shallow now. Fun, but also easily forgotten.

So some mixed feelings, but still a highly enjoyable read overall. It was my first Camilla Isley but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more of her books. Though this story can be read as a standalone, it is actually the second book in a series of companion novels. Book one is The Love Theorem which features characters we briefly meet in this one. And book three will be coming out soon too, so I’m definitely intrigued as that will feature Archie, one of my favorite characters from Love Quest. But as I said, this can also easily be read as a standalone, so don’t let that stop you from picking up this book if you’re looking for a quick, enjoyable rom-com with a really fun setting.

This book was a no for me. A misogynistic hero is not my jam. Logan did not get better for me as the book progressed.

I was rather disappointed with this book as I could not get past how unlikeable Logan is, as a person. For me a strong female and male lead, a male lead that hates women does not make enemies to lovers. Logan is not at all the book boyfriend many romcom romance readers try and seek. The writing for me felt very lazy and the plot not quite thought through. I struggled over half way through this book where I did end up not finishing as it just felt flat and not for me.

I had no idea what to expect going into this, except maybe another cheesy love cliché book…but it was so much more! I flew through the pages as the action and the drama kept me engrossed and I couldn’t put it down! This was meant to be a 7 day buddy read with a friend but neither of us wanted to stop so it turned into just 3! I loved the sassy main character and the super grumpy, yet sexy guy…first book by this author and it won’t be my last!

I had high hopes for this book but I just couldn't get past how unlikeable Logan is a person. A strong female lead and a male lead that hates women doesn't equate to enemies to lovers, it's just lazy writing. Logan is misogynistic and not at all the book boyfriend many romance readers seek; overall a real let down for me. DNF.

Yikes... I really expected soooo much more then I got. I literally thought this was The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in book form and was super excited to recieve an ARC. Summer and Logan were BAD characters. I expected cute enemies to lovers but they were both immature, disrespectful and innapropriate. Summer is ogling a naked man without consent and Logan is mysoginisitic. If Logan was an older man in his 40/50 I would understand the culture of not wanting women around but he's a young character so it really didn't work to make him mysoginistic. The characters need full revision to make this a charming romcom.

Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley and the publisher for an EArc of Love Quest in exchange for an honest review!

I liked reading this one! The pacing was quick and the story was interesting! I wish there was some more romance to it but I also really enjoyed the story of being on an expedition together.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Logan’s idea of a woman being a burden in a workplace with other men. That threw me off a bit. The “enemies to lovers” trope between them didn’t feel…like true enemies to lovers. More like they were trying to convince themselves that they were enemies. With all of the men in here being completely “ripped”, there were definitely some clichés. And the romance scenes felt rushed. However the intro into the book had you wanting to continue on and the friendship/banter between Winter and Archie was great. I’m really looking forward to hopefully reading Archie’s romance story!

Overall, I enjoyed this! 3 stars. If you’re looking for a quick and easy read with some romance — pick up Love Quest :)

This turned out to be more fun than I was expecting. The plot is basically an Indiana Jones story if there was a romance mixed in. Once the archaeological trip gets going, they go from one adventure and near-death experience to another. It took a while to get going, but then I enjoyed it much more.

I read the earlier book in this series, The Love Theorem, and this struck me a bit similarly. The plot and characters were totally unbelievable, but I could still enjoy it once I totally suspended all disbelief.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I read and really enjoyed Isley's "The Love Theorem" so the publisher gave me access to this ARC also.

This one didn't do it for me though - it is in the same world/same cast of characters as "The Love Theorem," just focussing on Lana's best friend Winter.

However. The characters & their dialogue just felt really juvenile - it felt like 99% of the conversation early on was between the men on this expedition about how no one could possibly concentrate or get their work done becasue there was someone with boobs on the trip. Wow. Are you 12? I get we're trying to portray the male lead as a jerk to start with.... buuuuut, this just felt ridiculous. There were many repetative description's of Winter's physical appearance and clothing. At one point, Winter's internal thought is, "I feel like we're in the sixth grade." Yes, that's the feeling I had throughout.

It also felt borderline disparaging/dismissive of other cultures - as representated by the other members of the expedition who were not the main characters.

The adventure itself was also just a bit too wildly over the top - we find a whole vilage built out of gold and then the security team goes rogue and then we're bushwhacking through the jungle to save everyone. It will probably appeal to some, but I guess at the time I was reading I was just not engaged as the story was too zany for my taste.

So - "The Love Theorem" was a hit; "Love Quest" was a miss... May try another Isley someday!

Thank you @netgalley @bookandtonic for the ARC 💕

Winter is a travel photographer who was hired for an expedition in Thailand and is the only woman in the team. If it was up to Dr. Logan, she wouldn't even be there, but she doesn't know what she did to begin with that has him hating her so much.

Logan is finally close to discover the city of gold, his dream since he was young, so the last thing he needs is a distraction in Winter. When forced to face danger together in the jungle, can they resist the sparks?

It was a cute read 💕 I wish there was more tension between them before they gave in to their feelings for each other. The adventure to discover the gold city was great, and the plot twist was well done!

This book is out July 8th, and you'll like it if you like:

📚 Slowburn Romance
📚 Rom Com
📚 Hate to Lovers

"Love Quest" aimed to be a lighthearted and enjoyable book. Fans of romantic comedy will definitely appreciate this. The quest to discover the fabled city of gold was an exciting idea that added a bit of entertaining adventure. Unfortunately, it was not for me. It's probably adorable and fluffy to many, but I wouldn't recommend it. The main character was not likeable and there was no tension at all in the main couple. I wanted to adore this overall, but it felt just too convenient, simple, and cliché.

Sorry, I just don't find misogynists who objectify women all that sexy. There's a million ways to do an enemies to lovers plot without this man blaming a woman for the reactions of himself and the men around him.

Need a palate cleanser that is quick, cute, fun, and full of romantic adventure? Look 👀 no further - I read this one in a few hours 👏🏼

Anyone else obsessed with Harrison Ford - aka Dr. Jones aka Indi? 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ Add in a feisty, yet brilliant photographer / adventurer FMC and you have Love Quest.

Winter signs up for a photography expedition in Thailand, always jet setting to the next location no matter the mileage. Used to being the only female on many excursions, the instant disdain for Dr. Spencer (hot professor / archaeologist) comes at a full head even before the trekking begins.

All of Dr. Logan Spencer’s dreams of finding one of the oldest mythological cities in Thailand’s history could actually turn into a reality. But this grumpy leader is having his entire world shaken up with the arrival of the bombshell photographer. Will they even make it to the lost city before tearing each other apart?

okay i dont care if their romance was cliche or unrealistic I loved it. I didn't expect there to be action which was a present surprise, and I loved the setting

i just wish Logan wasn't misogynistic in the beginning, i feel there were other ways to make it enemies to lovers without him being a jerk
