I received a digital ARC copy of Love Quest via NetGalley to read and review.
This takes place after The Love Theorem but you don’t have to read that first to read Love Quest. I personally enjoyed Love Quest more. The adventure and action made it interesting to read. Winter and Logan’s banter help too of course. Logan is not happy that Winter is along on his super important expedition as a photographer and Winter knows it. They start off getting on each other’s nerves but that changes when their “security” detail goes rogue. Now they must rely on each other to survive.
Love Quest by Camilla Isley is a charming romantic comedy that follows the story of Winter, a travel photographer who is hired to join a team in Thailand in search of the Lost City. Logan, a handsome/sexy and somewhat acrimonious archeologist and Winter get off on the wrong foot. The book takes us on a journey through the jungles of Thailand with a (mostly) likeable group of supporting characters. The book is a light and enjoyable read that will appeal to fans of the genre.
This book is actually Camilla Isley's "From Thailand with Love" (First Comes Love #5).
One of the strengths of the book is its setting. Isley does an excellent job of bringing Thailand to life, describing the sights, sounds, and the heat in the jungle. It wasn't too descriptive to the point that you feel that you need the story to move on, but enough to set the scene well. This felt like something you'd see in an Indian Jones Movie.
The characters are also well-drawn and engaging. At least a couple of these characters do appear in other Camilla Isley novels. Winter is smart and ambitious, but also a bit vulnerable. Logan, meanwhile, is a bit of a mystery at first, but as the story unfolds, we learn more about him and his motivations. The chemistry between the two is palpable, and their banter is often humorous and entertaining.
Readers looking for a light and breezy romance will find plenty to enjoy here. Isley keeps things moving at a brisk pace, and there are enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged.
Overall, "Love Quest" is a fun and entertaining read. Camilla has a talent for creating likable characters, and fans of romantic comedies are sure to enjoy this book.
A sincere Thank you to NetGallery and the Publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So this, to me, was more like a movie than a book. And that is in no way a complaint.
Plot: A photographer (FMC), an archaeologist (MMC) and assorted others travel to Thailand in search of a lost golden city. Shenanigans ensue.
It started out fairly slowly but when it sped up -- oh boy, did it ever. My every flabber was gasted when shit went sideways the first time. My jaw dropped, and I didn't pick it up until the situation was resolved. Like I said, this felt more like an action movie with a splash of romance. It was giving very Indiana Jones, actually.
Anyway, I loved Winter, I liked Logan, I adored Archie and I'm gonna have to backtrack to the previous novel in order to get to know Lana and Summer better.

Favorite Quotes:
I can’t help not liking the man; he honestly gives me the creeps… he’s retained all his military bearing: buzz cut shorter at the sides, lean muscled body, and a hard face marked by a livid white slash. The ominous scar cuts from his left eyebrow to halfway down his cheek. And he probably enjoys frightening children with it in his spare time.
I try to resist, but quickly give in. Grabbing the ever-present camera dangling from my neck, I stealthily snap a few shots of my sweaty, muscular colleagues. Then I check the results on the small screen on the back of the device, and chuckle to myself. These pictures would look great on an erotica novel, probably one called something like: “Taken in the Jungle by the Three Archeologists.”
I’m not getting out of this tub for anything in the world. “I’ve ordered dinner,” Logan says. I don’t reply. “Burgers and champagne.” Okay, now he’s got my attention.
Did I overshare? Maybe I overshared. But when I’m nervous, I talk. When I’m tired, I talk. When I’m both, I crash into TMI land like a cannonball.
My Review:
This tale was more action-adventure than I was expecting but thankfully there was also a bevy of amusing accidents and observations as well as a budding romance to put a smirk on my face. I enjoy Ms. Isley’s deft writing style, wry humor, and colorfully written character descriptions. This busy volume to the series features an archeological expedition finding peril in the hot and sticky jungle filled with ravenous insects, and I’m still feeling itchy and dehydrated just from the highly evocative descriptions alone – I’m so suggestible!
I don’t think the tone was for me, I didn’t finish it. But I’m sure others might enjoy. I liked the MC but the LI just wasn’t for me.
hooked from the opening line, a true rom-com full of laughs and swoon-worthy feels. The adventure was well documented with a grumpy x sunshine trope and some added forced proximity. I loved everything from beginning to end, the chemistry between them was amazing.
"Winter is coming."
Winter is a travel photographer who has been hired to photograph and expedition in Thailand. Dr Logan is head of the jungle expedition on search for a long lost golden city. They both don't make the best impression when they first meet, Logan is grump and doesn't like the idea of woman being involved on the expedition as he things she will be a distraction. While Winter soon puts Logan in his place and won't take any nonsense.
I loved this book it included one of my favourite trope- grumpy sunshine and this book didn't disappoint. Even though it focus more on the adventure side rather than heavy on romance I was all for it. It was a nice change to have an Indiana Jones/Lara Croft style adventure for the book theme- one I don't think I have read about before. I read in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend if you are in a reading slump.
I loved the Game of Thrones references "And now the Khaleesi fantasy is complete."
The only thing I would mainly change but this is through my own hate for this phase is to get rid of "And a breath I hadn't known I'd been holding." - it seems romance authors always find a way to sneak these words in. I was enjoying the story until I read those words and then It took me a minute to carry on.
I will definitely ne reading more of Camilla Isley books, I have already got 'The Love Theorem' on my tbr pile to be read soon.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review

A photographer, an archeologist and a selected team go in search of a long-lost golden city. Will they find it or is it just a legend? And what if they find something else in the process?
This novel is the edited and refreshed edition of From Thailand with Love (First Comes Love, 5) and it is a standalone.
On the one hand, the characters are well written and entertaining. I especially liked Winter, the badass photographer that can shoot and doesn't take any crap from the rest of the group.
On the other hand, the plot focuses more on the search and its obstacles than it does on the love story. In fact, there is not al that much in that sense. I'd say it is a slow burn but there isn't a real and steady build up. There's nothing overly explicit and there are merely a couple of closed doors scenes.
Winter and Logan'a entire relationship is about their work and the banter. In my opinion, the "love" comes a little out of the blue.
To conclude, even though I would have preferred something more on the relationship, I'll say that this novel made me smile from the vary first page. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'll certainly read more by the author. For instance, I'm curious about Lana and Christian's story (First Comes Love, 4).
This short novella is action packed with archaeological discovery, betrayal and of course romance. At less than two hundred pages, it is the perfect read to get you out of a reading slump.
Ok, stay with me with this one. I really loathed Dr. Logan at the beginning: he is the ultimate misogynist. I do love a good Grumpy vs Sunshine and uncovering the reasons behind the grumpy exterior, but I Just didn’t gel with him at first. If you’re like me, stick with it, he does redeem himself throughout. Winter is the shining star, she’s strong, determined and very much holds her own.
Like with most Enemies to Lovers the tension between Logan and Winter is exceptionally intense. There are some great characters throughout; I loved Archie and can't wait for him to have his own book. Although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Read if you enjoy:
•Enemies to Lovers
•Grumpy Vs Sunshine
•Opposites Attract
•Forced Proximity
The absolute perfect enemies to lovers adventure romance! Sweet with heat!
An enemies to lovers adventure extravaganza. I adore to read love hate relationship books, but toss a thrilling adventure in and this novel has jumped to one of my all times favorite.
There was humor, action, tension, romance... this story really had it all!
I loved how feisty Winter was, how she didn't take any nonsense from Logan. And Logan was my kind of brooding, gorgeous hero. And best of all, his sidekick and best friend was just as charming and will be the leading man in the next novel! I can't wait to get my reading paws on that!!
Highly recommended, not for the faint of heart.
Perfect for fans of Something Wilder by Christina Lauren.
I absolutely loved this book ... if you enjoyed watching The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum (and a Brad Pitt cameo) you're going to love this book.
There's heat but not too much spice, there's adventure, humor, jungle, narrow escapes... only one sleeping bag!
Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope, and this one was done superbly. Add the adrenaline-jacking, heart-pumping adventure and this was the perfect book!
A total adventure of a story with danger, treasure and, of course, romance. I enjoyed the fiery start between Winter and Logan as they clashed over his misconceptions about her, with Winter determined to prove Logan wrong in the name of irritating him further. Starting off with sparks flying at the outset was a treat and then watching these two navigate (no pun intended) their relationship as they were forced into proximity on their quest was interesting. The thrill as things took a turn for the worse in the jungle gave this a lively narrative and a great opportunity to see this pair working together and surrendering to their feelings. This is quite a short book and I think this shows in the pacing, as Winter and Logan fall in love very quickly without knowing much of anything about each other, and having only known each other for a few short weeks. I would have liked to see their relationship develop properly, with them each opening up to each other and building chemistry but I felt by the time they were acknowledging their feelings their chemistry from the beginning of the book had fizzled out.
I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.
3.5⭐️ Mixed feelings on this one.
I loved the beginning (especially the monkey scene) and the adventure but idk.. Logan was kind of a dick for most of the book. He didn’t redeem himself in my eyes.
Archie was the highlight for me. I love his friendship with Logan but his new friendship with Winter was super cute.
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review with my honest opinion.*
Winter is a travel photograhper who meets Dr. Logan during their jungle expedition. They got off on the wrong foot.... but the attraction remains...
Funny, romantic and sweet at the same time. Love the characters... A light-hearted funny read.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, the publisher, and Camilla for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)
I have to share a secret. This is not my first time reading this book. I read it before when it was called "From Thailand with Love", 5th book of First Comes Love Serie (though you can read it as a stand-alone). And of course, I loved it again.
Winter is a travel photographer that has accepted an assignment on a tropical island. What she didn't know was that she was signing up for a brooding team leader who clearly prefer to run a boys-only club. But Winter is ready to show him she's no damsel in distress. Logan Spencer is an archeology professor and both Winter and he disliked each other at first sight. Stuck together into the wild, these two unwilling teammates will bicker and banter their way through a laugh-packed treasure hunt.
After years of searching, a new mapping technology has given Logan a clue to the location of the legendary Lost City of Gold. A discovery that could make his career. So the last thing he needs on this life-changing expedition is for his team to get distracted by a pair of long legs.
But when a treasure like no other is uncovered and ruthless enemies will want to keep it for themselves, it’ll be up to the two of them to save the day. Left alone to fight in the jungle, they will soon discover their lives might not be the only thing at stake—their hearts could be too.
*Enemies to lovers
*Forced proximity
*Workplace romance
*Only one bed (I mean... tent)
I enjoy this book so much this second time I read it. As always with Camilla's books I feel they're too short (I want, sorry, I NEED M O R E). It's perfect if you want to read and you have little time cause it is an easy read and you will finish it without noticing the time passing. So I definitely recommend it. Enjoy yourselves!
Note: This is part of a series, the first book is The Love Theorem, but this can be read as a standalone.
Winter is the main character in this one. She is a travel photographer on a job where the team is looking for a lost city of gold. The lead on the team, Logan, makes far from the best first impression.
This is a classic grumpy sunshine trope. It’s fun, sweet, and had tons of adventure. Very Indiana Jones. I loved Winter in the last book and was happy to see her have her moment. Logan took a while but he grew on me. The side characters were entertaining … and I am stoked that Archie is in the next book with a certain twin!
I was thrilled to see Lana and Summer cameos.
If you want a fun adventure romance, definitely give this one a shot. I can’t wait for the next book!
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an arc of this book.
