I had really high hopes for this book. The premise was great, but the male main character was just…far too sexist for my liking. It felt very much like he blamed the woman for his team not being able to control themselves and I just wasn’t vibing with it. The adventure part made up for it a little, but not enough to make me love the book.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to read and review this book, it is a part of a series, but that wasn't advertised anywhere in the description and I did not have the time or means to buy and read all the books that came before this one, and I don't like reading booms out of order in a stand-alone series, even if you technically can. I always feel like I'm missing out on the full stories and nuances of the characters and their relationships.
Unfortunately, this was my least favourite out of the series, however it didn't mean it wasn't still a really fun and enjoyable read. The two leads were very complex and complete opposites but as they say, opposites attract! The storyline was less light-hearted compared to the others, as they ventured into a dangerous adventure that they were all lucky to have come out alive. I was really pleased with the ending given to everybody.
I didn’t love winter’s juvenile tone of her character and Logan was a misogynistic man. The overall premise of this book is what intrigued me. Always one to love Laura Croft and such I was hoping for much more than this book provided. It was an okay rom com but it didn’t fully provide a cohesive plot. It was a lot going on and nothing seemed polished. This was an arc and I’m voluntarily leaving this review.
Another fabulous read by the lovely Camilla! I just adore the writing style and I seem to fly through these books, they are so easy to read.
This book is about Winter, who we met in The Love Theorem, who goes on a work expedition in search of gold with a team of searchers. This is where we meet the brooding and slightly grumpy Logan. I loved the banter between the characters and again I really enjoyed the side characters part in the story too.
This one had a lot going on, it was definitely more action packed than I'm used to in a romance novel, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read!
Thank you to Camilla Isley for the ARC. The cover and blurb reeled me in, only for this to be just an okay read. I feel like there was a lot going on in 218 pages, but it wasn’t anything what I was expecting. The characters are a little meh. It wasn’t bad, just not great.
Ummm okay! This was a nice surprise! When I read the synopsis, it reminded me of the movie The Lost City with Sandra Bullock which I loved! It was such a fun read and I truly enjoyed the whole treasure quest and the life or death incidents lol. The majority of the characters, like Archie, Tucker and Winter, were fun and likable. Logan’s character was interesting to say the least, some of the things he would say was simply cringe. Winter and Logan’s romance started as an enemies to lovers, which I have a love/hate relationship with. I have to say that I was not completely convinced though, except for the cave scene, I thought that part was very cute and had me believing in them! But afterwards, it just felt rushed and simply physical, their relationship lacked depth and emotion. Just like their relationship, the ending was also a let down. It felt oddly rushed after all of the adrenaline inducing chapters. The reasoning behind this adventure was finding the treasure, but the ending made it seem like Logan was in no rush to go back for it. The overall book felt like a disappointing beat drop, and the reasoning behind my rating. As I mentioned before, it was an overall fun read and duo POV, which is a plus!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
spice: a few open-door spicy scenes
TWs: mild misogyny, kidnapping, claustrophobia, attempted murder. Cheating (not MCs)
standalone: book 5 in the First Comes Love series - can definitely be read as a standalone
final thoughts: a fun book that has plenty of action, adventure, danger, banter, and “will they/won’t they” angst. I did think there were some minor plot holes that didn’t fully round the book for me, but overall, it was a fast, easy, and good read. Some tense and scary moments but the relationship evolution was fun to follow

With great characters, a jungle and archaeological history!
Dr Logan Spencer is on a quest
He doesn't need a woman to put him to the test.
He's searching for a lost city of gold
He doesn't need a photographer who is sassy and bold!
Trekking through the jungle, wondering what they'll find
He doesn't need her occupying his mind!
But when the heat is on and there's danger, too,
What on earth will this pair do?
With family drama, betrayal and a jungle to explore
They won't have time for anything more.
But adversity can help pull folks closer, too,
When working together is what they need to do.

Camilla Isley’s Love Quest follows Winter, (Lana’s best friend from another one of Isley's books - The Love Theorem) as she sets off on a dangerous trip to Thailand. I don't mind Isley's writing style, but the constant discussion of Winter's body and how they all want her, did not hit for me (i.e. sexist behaviour). I do think Isley is able to get across that Winter is not a damsel in distress, despite finding herself in dangerous situations. She isn't relying on men to come to her rescue. Love Quest was a quick read, with fun moments, but I did just find the characters to fall flat. The enemies-to-lovers trope was okay....it felt like the romance was just shoved in out of nowhere.
Love Quest was a very quick read to get through and it had its fun moments. I also very much enjoyed the bits of action-adventure and the atmosphere of the book. Overall though, it was a miss for me.
The characters felt very flat. The enemies-to -lovers trope had some really unstable beginnings and so I never really believed it. The actual romance plot very shoved in and exploration out of nowhere. The MMC, Logan was also not a 'Grumpy" guy, he was a misogynist, and by the end I didn't really feel that he was longer harboring those feelings towards women in general, but only towards the FMC, which is still pretty ick, in my opinion.
The premise is what drew me in and the execution of it was predictable (which isn't always a bad thing), and pretty meh. I think if I read this when I was a teenager, I would have eaten it right up, said thank you and asked for seconds.
I've read other Camilla Isley books that I enjoyed so much more, so I'm not giving up on her completely!
Camilla Isley’s Love Quest follows Winter Knowles, (Lana’s best friend from The Love Theorem) as she embarks on a dangerous trip to Thailand. As a traveling photographer, Winter has encountered many obstacles in her career, but none quite like Dr. Logan Spencer. The two instantly butt beads over anything and everything. Will their inability to get along jeopardize their mission, or will they learn to put their differences aside once and for all?
Camilla Isley knows how to write strong female characters. Winter Knowles is no damsel in distress. While she finds herself in several dangerous situations through the course of the book, she doesn’t rely on men to come to her rescue. She is perfectly capable of saving not only herself, but other members of her team.

I couldn't finish this book. The author's writing style is fine it's just the constant discussion of her body, how all of them want her, etc. It just put me off for some reason.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
What a delighful romp thru the jungle. Very reminiscent of the classic film Romancing The Stone so it gave me solid feels and hit the spot.
This is book two in a 3 series set. Can't wait to read about Summer's journey.

I’ve really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a fun read that starts as it means to go on, I loved the way that Winter first see’s Logan, naked and shouting at a monkey who’s stolen his phone. Winter is a strong main character and I thought her and Logan were well matched. Logan is the perfect mix of broody and grumpy. I loved the banter between them. The storyline is fast paced and full of action and the writing flows beautifully. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.
I couldn't get through the sexist language and behavior from both the main character and the love interest and his friend. Within the first 20% of the book and we're still not on the expedition, just talking about how much each of the guys want to bone the heroine and how he doesn't think women should be allowed on his trip. And she's not much better either, watching him flail around naked while a monkey steals his phone. There's also a bunch of drama about a sister that is probably from the last book on the series, but I didn't read that, so I couldn't get invested at all. I was hoping for more.
I actually didn't expect this story would be this adventurous, but it is! I like how this book gives a Lara Croft x Indiana Jones crossover vibe with a cute romance-comedy twist on it. Dr. Logan Spencer and Winter Knowled literally has my heart!

Look, does this novel require some suspension of disbelief? Yes. There were moments during the mid-latter half of the book where I was incredulous because if you are "...in the face of danger" are you going to think and behave in some of the inane way these characters do? No. But if you are able to suspend your disbelief and want a fun, not to serious adventure romance, do I think you can enjoy this for what it is? Yes.
This was fun. I like the adventure aspect of the story and I was invested in the trek to find the lost city of gold. I enjoy enemies to lovers and this is very much the case with Logan and Winter. While I generally liked Logan in the end, I did not particularly like his character due to the unnecessary misogynistic take he has on having women on this expedition. I get why it's included as it has more to do with his ex-girlfriend rather than women as a whole, but in a romance I would like to root for the characters to end up together and it took me awhile to warm up to him. I hadn't read the previous novel featuring Winter's sister and her best friend and while I don't think it's necessary to do so before reading, I think it would provide a little more context since a situation in that book is mentioned a few times.
Generally, I think this was a solid adventure romance. I was looking for something light and breezy between heavier reads and this fit the bill.
Such an easy to read slow burn romance! Loved the adventure aspect of it and the cute cheesy romance between the characters
