Look, does this novel require some suspension of disbelief? Yes. There were moments during the mid-latter half of the book where I was incredulous because if you are "...in the face of danger" are you going to think and behave in some of the inane way these characters do? No. But if you are able to suspend your disbelief and want a fun, not to serious adventure romance, do I think you can enjoy this for what it is? Yes.
This was fun. I like the adventure aspect of the story and I was invested in the trek to find the lost city of gold. I enjoy enemies to lovers and this is very much the case with Logan and Winter. While I generally liked Logan in the end, I did not particularly like his character due to the unnecessary misogynistic take he has on having women on this expedition. I get why it's included as it has more to do with his ex-girlfriend rather than women as a whole, but in a romance I would like to root for the characters to end up together and it took me awhile to warm up to him. I hadn't read the previous novel featuring Winter's sister and her best friend and while I don't think it's necessary to do so before reading, I think it would provide a little more context since a situation in that book is mentioned a few times.
Generally, I think this was a solid adventure romance. I was looking for something light and breezy between heavier reads and this fit the bill.

Such an easy to read slow burn romance! Loved the adventure aspect of it and the cute cheesy romance between the characters

A fun fast paced romance story. I enjoyed this book, it was different. it was also a short read, so perfect as a pallet cleaner

DNF
I just couldn’t get into this. The writing style felt very contrived/cliched what with the love interest being nicknamed ‘Satan’ by the FMC and the MMC stereotyping the FMC because he thinks women suck and will obviously be ill-equipped for the jungle.
I wanted to love this, but I was just bored.

Winter is on job as a photographer as part of an expedition to find a lost city. Her boss Logan is Satan. Not really but they don't exactly hit it off. But of course like every romance book soon it'll be come love.

First things first... The cover art for Love Quest is GORGEOUS. The Bright colors complement the story's overall feel, and the characters' depictions perfectly match what you read in the book. I am so glad that I judged this book on its cover!
Love Quest centers on travel photographer Winter as she joins in on a top-secret trip through the lush jungles of Thailand, where the rest of her crew is playing into the boys club stereotype led by Dr. Logan Spencer. This book emphasizes adventure with a side plot of romance, but that didn't bother me since the romance never felt forgotten about or neglected. With loads of adventure, this book plays into the enemies-to-lovers, and forced proximity tropes, with Logan being very serious about his work and not wanting anything to mess it up, especially not a woman.
Love Quest is a shorter read, and while I enjoyed its pacing and quickness, I would not have minded more backstory to the characters to see where some of their insecurities and inability to trust one another fully comes from. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light and comedic romantic adventure that will have you transported to the thick jungles of Thailand.

Thank you NetGalley UK and the publisher for the opportunity.
My review is very late but here I am.
So, this enemy to lovers story is set in an adventurous setting. Archeology, mysteries, love and treasures are promised.
However, there is little to the archeology. There is a place for sexism and misogyny though. I was really surprised by how sexist the male character was depicted. Is it really what people want now ? It was really despicable.
The storyline was focused on those two protagonists, whom I think have not chemistry, and their connection seems forced.
There are also a lot of characters introduced at the beginning and they are not that much in the story. Incomprehensible.
I would not recommend.

Oh dear! Where do I even begin with this book? The only positive I’ve taken from Love Quest is that the jungle is definitely not for me!
In the purest sense of a review I found the whole thing awful. If it wasn’t so short I would have DNFed early on. The plot was chaotic and not in a good way. Promising a meet-cute and delivering a far fetched thriller with little character development was a definite let down. And oh the misogyny and condescending nicknames for a women on an expedition (Snowflakes, Barbie - please!).
I also don’t buy that you’d be thinking about the physical attributes of your fellow camp mate while running for your life! Sadly not for me and I wouldn’t recommend.

A solid, swoony romance. Camilla Isley is one of those writers you know that you’re in good hands with. I was actually way more drawn into the action/adventure side of it than I thought I would be 😅 it really was pretty gripping. I feel a bit like it overshadowed the romance a bit though? And I am predominantly here for the romance 😂 B+ epilogue - pretty cute 🥰
What to expect:
- enemies to lovers
- forced proximity
- exotic jungle setting
- Indiana Jones vibes
- mild spice

Loved it more than Lana's book. Not really excited for Summer's one. This one is a beautiful little Lara Croft/Indiana Jones fade to black jungle adventure rom com.
3 stars

I loved this so much! I laughed from the start. It was fun and adventurous. I loved Winter and Logan. Enemies to lovers is always one of my favorite tropes! I thought the story was fun and the romance was sweet. I now have to go read everything the author has ever written. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

First, thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing to review this ARC with honesty.
I'd like to start by saying, this book gave the Lara Croft but more romance based storyline. A group of professionals decide they wish to uncover the Lost City of Gold. While that sounds like an interesting story plot on it's own, this leans more into the characters and adventures that delve around them.
I thought the book had funny moments, sweet moments and yes, cheesy/cliché moments that you will usually find in a rom-com. What you may not find, is danger, crazy escapes and wild chases.
I did find the book entertaining. I was not aware of a previous book in this series but it did not deter my reading experience with it being a stand alone.
Parts of the book had a ton of dialog and no connection as to who spoke which caused some confusion here or there that I had to backtrack to figure out who said what. Sometimes I didn't figure it out and moved on.
Overall, I had decent time with this and would read from the author again.
My Rating: 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (rounded up)

I enjoyed this adventure but I was slightly sad to learn that it was part of a series and I was dropped in the middle. Winter and Logan’s bickering was funny to read and it definitely gave romantic comedy vibes for sure. I reminded of the movie, “ The Lost City” slightly. While the adventure part was good I do wish they had spent more time in the city and in the history of it but that is more because I enjoy history than any other reason. This was also a very quick read and I read it in pretty much one sitting

Oh my I freaking loved this book. I flew through this rom-com so fast, I ignored my kids, laundry, and all the things to finish this in one sitting. I can't wait for the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that this one gave me a bit of Indiana Jones meets a rom com vibes. And I loved it. Who would have a thought and that a rom com that reminded me of Indiana Jones would be something that I loved.

This is the fifth book of the First Comes Love series and it is a delightfully fun addition!
It's an enemies to lovers story that will have you smiling and laughing out loud. Winter is an archaeology professor and looking for some fun and adventure. She is also a travel photographer and has been hired to photograph an expedition in Thailand. Dr Logan is the head of the expedition looking for a long lost golden city. He is looking to make a name for himself by using some special technology to help him locate this city. The two hate each other from the start and are constantly butting heads. But then as these two continue with the expedition and are forced to face danger together, they have no choice but to trust one another.
The story was full of adventure and action, which really got my heart racing, not to mention the chemistry and tension between Logan and Winter. I also enjoyed the fun and witty, sometimes sassy, banter between the two. These two were great characters and I really enjoyed the story and the exotic setting. This is a wonderful addition to the series!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and Boldwood Books and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Love Quest by Camilla Isley was a funny, entertaining, fast-paced romcom that totally delivered!
Humor: 😂😂😂😂😂
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Story: 📚📚📚📚📚
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, adventure/suspense, forced proximity, only one tent
I love an adventurous romance novel! Love Quest follows Winter (a professional travel photographer) who is hired by Logan (an Archeologist) to document the discovery of a lost city of gold in Thailand. It gives serious Indiana Jones vibes ❤️
There is plenty of head-butting, lusty interiority, and humor. My only wish is that the saucy scenes didn’t fade to black, but there is plenty of tension along the way to make up for it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for access to this ARC for an honest review. I loved reading Love Quest ❤️

This was such a cute little romcom and perfect for a beach read!! I loved the humor and adventure brought into the story!

Witty, romantic and original. I really enjoyed reading this, it was perfect escapism that I could not put down!

This book sounded good but unfortunately I found it to be just ok. My main issue was that even though this is an enemies to lovers trope I never warmed up to the male main character. He was so misogynistic the first half that I couldn't like him by the end.
